[Bug 875440] Re: Cannot authenticate with saslauthd and mysql
I have tried all possible solutions and only working one is downgrading to version .23. I did build .25 deb packages for oneiric from upstream source and can say that this does not help. It not only affects authorization with mysql but also ldap does not seem to work. To me it seems libsasl2 can not find correct conf file and it does not meter where you place it. I have tried all possible places that are defined where it should look for. Since reverting to 2.6.32 I've also gone back to using hgfs, and have not seen the invalid argument issue. Fixes bug 934534. The launch_index column in the database is used as the ami-launch-index value provided by the metadata service. If launch_index is not specified it defaults to 1. [Bug 941922] [NEW] do-release-upgrade races puppet for file contents
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is something of a larger problem with configuration management, but if puppet is running while do-release-upgrade runs, puppet may re-assert contents of files that the package manager has just changed. Puppet allows you to key off of the currently running distro release, so one could imagine boot-critical configuration (filesystems, etc) being set to e.g. Lucid versions just before a reboot into Precise. If the reboot succeeds, puppet would subsequently deliver the Precise versions and things could sort themselves out, but the reboot could well be stymied by older Lucid versions. The canonical-memento puppet manifests include a lot of safety features to prevent precisely this scenario: we insist that /etc be maintained in bzr, and we halt all configuration management if there are uncommitted changes there. This means that once the package manager changes any file in /etc, puppet refuses to run. Not everyone will be as careful as we are, and even our system is not atomic. This is of course not specific to do-release-upgrade, and it's a problem any time you upgrade a package. It's just most dangerous during d-r-u, because of the breadth and depth of changes. The upgrade could shut down the puppet agent before upgrading, but once puppet itself is upgraded that will trigger a restart. It's probably best to do `puppet agent --disable` before shutting down puppet. Once this is done, it may be worth warning the sysadmin at the end (perhaps while advising a reboot) that puppet was running before the upgrade, and that something like `puppet agent -t --noop` is useful for seeing what changes puppet would make. Of course, it's an architectural flaw in puppet that --noop runs still upload exported resources to the database, and that's just a hazard of puppet administration these days. ** Affects: puppet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: dist-upgrade -- do-release-upgrade races puppet for file contents https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941922 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 941922] Re: do-release-upgrade races puppet for file contents
It seems that this isn't really an update-manager (or package management in general) issue at all, but rather puppet should be shipping an apt.conf.d snippet with DPkg::Pre-Invoke and DPkg::Post-Invoke hooks to stop and start the puppet daemon before and after any operations are done. ** Package changed: update-manager (Ubuntu) = puppet (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941922 Title: do-release-upgrade races puppet for file contents To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/+bug/941922/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 927805] Re: t1.micro instance defect after dist-upgrade
Hi, I'm sorry, but there is just not enough information to make any sort of diagnosis on what caused the issue. The 'grub-probe' error messages in the upgrade can be ignored. They're there only because grub-pc package is installed, but it is not being used. The pv-grub aki from amazon is loading the image. Can you please collect a get-console-output of a failed instance? Alternatively, you are welcome to give me access to the ami that you upgraded and failed, and I can try to look. Without one of those bits of information, we really can't make any progress on this bug. As Ben noted, the issue does not occur on current AMIs. Without being able to reproduce or see information on a failed state, we simply cannot help. I've tried to reproduce by launching a t1.micro instance of 'ami-311f2b45' (eu-west-1 ebs/ubuntu-lucid-10.04-i386-server-20110201.1). That is the oldest ami available that uses the pv-grub kernel you reported this issue on (aki-4deec439). I then ran 'sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade'. After that was successfull, I rebooted. The system came up fine into the kernel 'vmlinuz-2.6.32-342-ec2' (which is shown in your output). ** Attachment added: console output showing boot into 2.6.32-312 and reboot into 2.6.32-342 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/927805/+attachment/2795080/+files/console-output.txt ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Importance: High = Medium ** Changed in: cloud-init (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/927805 Title: t1.micro instance defect after dist-upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/927805/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 943208] Re: package sysstat 10.0.3-1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Thanks for submitting this bug report, and sorry you had trouble. Looking at the /etc/default/sysstat in stock ubuntu, I don't see any unterminated strings. A trial do-release-upgrade from oneiric to precise, with sysstat installed, worked fine for me. Had you edited the /etc/default/sysstat file at any point? Unfortunately since you purged and re-installed, we can't look at the old defaults file to see what the problem actually was. That makes this problem unreproducible and un-debuggable, so per the status definitions I will mark it invalid. ** Changed in: sysstat (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to sysstat in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/943208 Title: package sysstat 10.0.3-1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sysstat/+bug/943208/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 937706] Re: Oneiric unpredictable crashes straight out to login screen
Hello Fabio, Another crash this morning. I really cannot afford to keep losing work like this :-( Unfortunately the crash happened before I had checked the debuggin options. Would the report still be useful? Also, I ran xdiagnose and it said that it might be sending sensitive information such as hostname so I'm not sure whether to press the send button in Apport or not? [Bug 943113] [NEW] Screen lock not working reliably
Public bug reported: I'm using 11.10 with Unity. I have observed that lock screen does not behave consistently after the machine has been idling for a while and resuming from screen saving. Same applies to resuming from suspend. Types of behavior is one of: - From screen saver to login screen (expected, ~50%) - From screen saver to desktop for a few secs (sometimes allowing interaction) then login screen (not expected, ~30%) - From screen saver to desktop without login (not expected, ~20%) This has actually been reported by another user on ubuntuforums. I am experiencing the exact same problem. I am opening a bug since I really need a machine that locks reliably. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/943113 Title: Screen lock not working reliably To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/943113/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 940085] Re: 12.04, Compiz Wall plugin default shortcut keys are incorrect
FYI clicking the little restore to default icon next to the key combo in CCSM sets it correctly back to the preferred default we all know and love AND MISSED! Trying to set the combo manually by doing key grabs does not work for some reason. pressing ctrl is not registered in the capture at all, and if you try and set it and close the app the combos don't work very well. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. We understand the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. [Bug 833383] Re: FFe: [MIR] gnome-contacts
When I looked at g-contacts closely before Oneiric's release, it did not do anything empathy's contact list could not do, and it was very rough still. I installed 3.3.90, and I must say I'm shocked how poorly designed this program is. When you start it the first time, you get a totally unintelligible setup screen with two unobvious choices where to keep your contacts, and two misplaced buttons which at first appear to be a menu. (attaching screenshot). The main window has a very poor layout, tons of empty entries, and it does not show much information. (attaching screenshot). Frankly, this is not an app I want to see in our default install. Evolution has a much better UI to manage contacts. If the new empathy needs this, I strongly suggest to keep the current empathy version and backport some bug fixes, or revert the removal of empathy's builtin contact list. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/833383 Title: FFe: [MIR] gnome-contacts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-contacts/+bug/833383/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
