2012-03-07 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it
would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be
corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO
files you download. Could you please visit
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions
and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Thanks in
advance.

[Bug 928501] Re: Precise will ship totally broken ebox packages

2012-03-07 Thread James Page
General comments:

It would be nice if all debian/copyright files conformed to:

http://www.debian.org/doc/packaging-manuals/copyright-format/1.0/

but that is optional.

All packages are defaulting to source format 1.0; its a minor change to
upgrade each to soure format 3.0 (native) and it makes it clear that
this is a native package:

[Bug 646724] Re: not all files show up in files-place

I think using the locate command as an intermediate solution to this
problem is sensible. However, the locate command does not find files
within an encrypted home directory (one of the many things that
encrypted homes break), so this will continue to be a problem for many
users.

[Bug 948913] [NEW] some applets don't adapt theme colors properly on Precise

2012-03-07 Thread dronus
Public bug reported:

I am using Gnome Classic session for gnome-panels with the Ambiance
theme. After upgrading to Precise Beta, the window switcher and clock
applet apperars embossed dark on the dark background, barely readable.

When I switch the theme from Ambiance to Radiance, the clock appears
correclty. However, then the battery and speaker icon appear bad. Some
things (eg the network indicator) are working fine. Maybe there are
multiple bugs.

Summary:
-The network indicator works ok, it changes color theme according to theme.
-The clock applet always appears dark like Radiance needs it
-The window switcher window titles always appears dark like Radiance needs it
-The battery and speaker indicators always appear bright as Ambiance need it.

what a mess :-)

[Bug 948918] [NEW] Install (entire disk with encryption) fails to boot after installation

2012-03-07 Thread Lars Noodén
Public bug reported:

Following this test case:
http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/204/builds/13085/testcases/1173/results

The installation runs smoothly, but the machine will not boot when
restarted. Instead it shows the grey screen that is normal after power
cycling the machine. After a while a blinking icon of a folder with a
question mark comes on the screen.

It is possible to boot to the newly made partition (or the old one) by
booting first to the installation CD and then choosing boot from first
hard drive. In this way the grub menu can be reached. Running update-
grub has no effect.

This seems somewhat similar to #948823

Workarround:

1) download the https certificate using you browser.

3) import the downloaded certificate as a Trusted Certificate (not CA)
4) try to load the console

It will still ask for the console certificate (not the http one) but
this one will work as expected.

[Bug 820485] Re: ubiquity stops installation at 'Configuring target system'

2012-03-07 Thread Ma Xiaojun
I haven't used Ubuntu 11.10. However, I also meet exactly the same issue
in Ubuntu 12.04 Beta1.

Anyway, is there a live fix for the issue?
I mean when the installer go wrong, can we issue some commands in root shell to
fix it. We can get root shell from virtual terminals. Ctrl+Alt+Fn (n=1,2,...,6)

[Bug 325074] Re: Window redrawing does not work properly with KDE4 taskbar tooltips.

2012-03-07 Thread Roman
I have just installed KUbuntu 12.04 (beta), and I can confirm that this
bug is gone in this release. I also verified this with the Clemens
Eisserer's testcase available in the Freedesktop report (Bug 22566).
This testcase no longer leaves any trash on the screen.

[Bug 928501] Re: Precise will ship totally broken ebox packages

2012-03-07 Thread James Page
General feedback:

Quite a few packages have upstart configurations prefixed with ebox:

./zentyal-users/debian/ebox.slapd.upstart
./zentyal-users/debian/ebox.ad-pwdsync.upstart
./zentyal-users/debian/ebox.slapd-frontend.upstart
./zentyal-users/debian/ebox.slapd-replica.upstart
./zentyal-users/debian/ebox.slapd-translucent.upstart
./zentyal-core/debian/ebox.redis.upstart
./zentyal-core/debian/ebox.event-daemon.upstart
./zentyal-core/debian/ebox.loggerd.upstart
./zentyal-ntp/debian/ebox.ntpd.upstart
./zentyal-dns/debian/ebox.bind9.upstart
./zentyal-squid/debian/ebox.dansguardian.upstart

Not sure whether these should be renamed or not - guess that depends on
how zentyal actually uses them.

I don't think this is a blocker - it was just a little confusing.

[Bug 946608] Re: Trying to install from a USB flash drive.

2012-03-07 Thread Fabio Marconi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

The CDROM is the alternate install CDROM for Kubuntu 11.10.

[Bug 948944] [NEW] after upgrade from oneiric python applications may use the wrong version of wxpython and fail as a result

2012-03-07 Thread sanktnelson
Public bug reported:

I am using the printrun utilities from ppa:richi-paraeasy/ppa. Upon
upgrade from oneiric pronterface, which uses and depends on wxpython
2.8, fails to run due to missing attributes even though both wxpython
2.6 and 2.8 are both installed. It turns out that it is actually using
2.6, since removing 2.6 results in the error changing to import wx: no
such module. This seems related to python-wxversion since removing and
reinstalling python-wxgtk2.6 and 2.8 did not help. What helped was
removing both as well as python-wxversion, and then reinstalling only
2.8 and wxversion. Presumably other packages and third party
applications using wxpython will run into similar problems.

[Bug 948941] [NEW] wally for Gnome

2012-03-07 Thread Le Gluon Du Net
Public bug reported:

You could have two compiled version of Wally: one depends on KDE libs and the
others on Qt only libs.
The package in official Ubuntu Precise repositories depends of KDE libs. Or if
you are using Unity/Gnome and install Wally, you'll install all the kdelibs
stuff...a waste of hard disk for a gnome user. On the official Wally site you
could find a package specially for gnome, without kdelibs stuff, why it is not
present in official repo, with a name like this: wally-gnome?

Thanks for your help.

[Bug 948938] [NEW] Mouse input (warp and clipping) broken in Wine 1.4rc6

2012-03-07 Thread Loris Zinsou
Public bug reported:

Mouse warp and clipping are broken with Wine (tested with Wine 1.3.37 to
1.4rc6) and Ubuntu 12.04.
It works fine with Ubuntu 11.10 and the same versions of Wine.
The bug is present with both xserver 1.11.x and 1.12rc.
I tried on a desktop and a laptop (with mouse and touchpad), same result.

Any application needing these functionalities is unusable (this includes many
3D apps, mostly games).
Either the cursor moves too quickly (Crysis, Bioshock), or to the opposite
direction it was expected to go (Mass Effect). It may depend on the way the app
handles mouse input.
Reports confirm that Mass Effect, Crysis 2 and Bioshock are broken (they
wereworking fine on Ubuntu 11.10), as long as some 3D level design tools.

Here is the bug report on Wine bug tracker :

[Bug 923552] Re: no way to create logical volume within lvm

(Preferably with a current daily build, too, just in case we fixed this
and I forgot about it.)

[Bug 923552] Re: no way to create logical volume within lvm

2012-03-07 Thread Colin Watson
Hm, that's not what your most recent partman log indicates. I couldn't
reproduce this in an alternate amd64 installation with a blank disk.

Since you can reproduce this in a VM, though, it should be a matter of
sufficiently exact instructions, so ... Could I have exact directions
on how you're starting qemu, including the qemu-img command that creates
the disk, and the full qemu command line?

[Bug 939450] Re: ubiquity crashed with TypeError: argument of type 'NoneType' is not iterable in ubi-partman.py

2012-03-07 Thread Bob
Is there a work-around available? I'm setting up a new system, and
REALLY wanted to start with 12.04, even though it's still in Beta. I've
got a partition on the disk I want to save, which is why I selected
Something else.
