[Bug 1170801] [NEW] puppet needs to use ruby1.8

2013-04-19 Thread Tim Spriggs
Public bug reported:

On a new raring install I have added puppet (which brings in facter) but
puppet won't start:

# service puppet restart
 * Restarting puppet agent

/usr/lib/ruby/1.9.1/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require': cannot load
such file -- facter (LoadError)
from /usr/lib/ruby/1.9.1/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require'
from /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/puppet.rb:9:in `top (required)'
from /usr/lib/ruby/1.9.1/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require'
from /usr/lib/ruby/1.9.1/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require'
from /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/puppet/application.rb:272:in `initialize'
from /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/puppet/util/command_line.rb:60:in `new'
from /usr/lib/ruby/vendor_ruby/puppet/util/command_line.rb:60:in
`execute'
from /usr/bin/puppet:4:in `main'

Looking at facter, it is apparent that it is only available under
ruby1.8:

% dpkg-query -L facter | grep -c ruby/1.8
83
% dpkg-query -L facter | grep -c ruby/1.9
0

However, /usr/bin/puppet is set to use ruby-1.9.1. Manually changing it
to use ruby1.8 allows puppet to start.

Additionally, puppet (3.x) is known to only run on ruby 1.9.x.

[Bug 985489] Re: nova-compute stops processing compute.$HOSTNAME occasionally on libvirt

2013-04-19 Thread You, Ji
Description of this problem

I have met this problem before. This bug is mainly caused by libvirt
openstack-compute driver for libvirt.

When you meet this problem. You may type command.

$ virsh list --all

If this command get stucked, you may face this problem. Another
interesting appearance is that, if you type

$ ps aux | grep libvirtd

You may find two libvirtd service is running. Such as,

.. /usr/sbin/libvirtd -d
../usr/sbin/libvirtd -d

You kill one process, then libvirt will be ok. But sometimes later, the
bug will come out again.

Reasons of this problem

Why this bug comes out?
1 This bug mainly caused by libvirt. The older verion of libvirt has
multi-process/multi-threads lock bugs. Sometimes, when multi-processes access
libvirt/libvirtd services by libvirt-api, this error will happen. Especially,
if you access libvirt from differe process or threads, then this bug will come
out. All accesses of libvirt will get stucked.

2 The driver of libvirt in OpenStack, access libvirt/libvirtd service
too frequently. Especially, when you have a lot of vms running on
libvirt.

Solutions for this bug:

1 You have to update you libvirt/libvirtd services. My advice is your libvirt
version should 0.9.13.
2 We may have some methods to get lower frequent of these accesses.

I think I can fix this Bug. ^_^. I have fix it in my env of openstack.

[Bug 992603] Re: [Lenovo E525, L430, 490Ms, b490, b580] Touchpad can become disabled after suspend/resume

2013-04-19 Thread Haitao Zhang
After installed Raring daily build 2013-04-17 image on E525,
1. S3 test failed into black screen without AMD's fglrx binary driver.
2. after installed default fglrx in current Raring distro, version
2:9.010-0ubuntu2, there is a Unsupported hardware watermark and S3 test still
failed.
so we plan to open a separate bug to track AMD's fglrx issue on Raring, cause
it will block status for this bug on Raring.

It happens every time NM tries to connect,

after that I have to put in /etc/NetworkManager/system-
connections/connectionname

add line:
password=password
#otherwise NM would prompt me for password by it won't connect

after adding line I need to restart NM:
sudo service network-manager restart

What do you think about that? Maybe I should report it as another bug of
NM (it is stopping on other step of connecting)

[Bug 1170584] [NEW] installer unresponsive after attempting grub installation on partitionable raid

2013-04-19 Thread Tuomas Heino
Public bug reported:

1. boot to livecd (desktop)
2. a) $ sudo apt-get install mdadm # not certain whether this part was needed
2. b) $ sudo mdadm -C /dev/md_d2 -l 1 -n 1 -f -x 2 /dev/vd[abc]
3. run installer, tell it to use entire md_d2 disk for lvm

Results in:
Executing 'grub-install /dev/vda' failed.
This is a fatal error.

Somewhat related to bug #1058129 and bug #1068137.

After looking around a bit and possibly mounting things that were not mounted:
$ sudo grub-install --root-directory=/target /dev/md_d2
Installation finished. No error reported.

[Bug 385869] Re: MS Outlook webmail locks up in firefox.

2013-04-19 Thread j
I'm using Ubuntu 12.10 and Firefox 20.0 and I think I have the same
problem:

When I login on Outlook2010 Webmail, the browser greys out for some time, then
gets back to normal for some seconds and greys out again and so on. It is not
possible to do anything but close and reopen firefox.
I don't have this problem on Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows.

[Bug 1170589] [NEW] [raring] wicd-daemon fails to start

2013-04-19 Thread Thomas-Karl Pietrowski
Public bug reported:

When starting wicd via sudo wicd -foe, I noticed that the daemon does
not find the backup symlink in it's backup_location.

Replacing line 1705 in wicd-daemon.py with:
if not (os.path.exists(backup_location) or
os.path.lexists(backup_location)):

Fixes the problem as it is checking now whether a backup file and backup
symlink is existing.

[Bug 831768] Re: aptitude cannot handle conflicts with multiarch enabled

2013-04-19 Thread Sven Berkvens-Matthijsse
The newly uploaded 0.6.6-1ubuntu1.2 version works perfectly for me on a
reasonably complicated Precise server with a mixture of i386 and amd64
packages.

Upon starting aptitude, it immediately started complaining about broken
packages and all sorts of fixes that it wanted to apply to fix all sorts
of problems, so I was skeptical at first. However, this turned out to be
because of some pending actions that aptitude still remembered from the
last time that I ran aptitude (months ago, just to test whether the
problem with multiarch had been fixed without me noticing). Telling
aptitude to forget all pending actions got me a perfectly clean system
according to aptitude.

Thanks for all the efforts, I love aptitude very much, although I've
gotten used to using apt-get as well now :-) Aptitude is much easier to
use for selectively upgrading packages, though, which is sometimes
necessary on my servers to minimize downtime caused by package upgrades.

[Bug 1071928] Re: isc-dhcp-server-ldap (4.2.4-1ubuntu10.1) is not capable of ldap

2013-04-19 Thread Stéphane Graber
I couldn't easily test this against an actual LDAP server, but I
confirmed that the LDAP and non-LDAP binaries are no longer identical
and that the LDAP version appears to look for the extra config options.

So even if it doesn't actually work, we're already infinitely better
than where we were before (and I'm pretty confident that it'll actually
work provided an LDAP server with the right schema).

[Bug 1170584] Re: installer unresponsive after attempting grub installation on partitionable raid

2013-04-19 Thread Tuomas Heino
Error message most likely was a result of mdadm missing from /target.
But UI shouldn't hang then.

$ sudo mount --bind /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf /target/etc/resolv.conf
$ sudo chroot /target apt-get install mdadm
$ sudo chroot /target grub-install /dev/md_d2
Installation finished. No error reported.

... that is still missing something to actually boot. Might be trying to
boot off one of them virtual disks that have not been synced yet though.

[Bug 1170609] [NEW] No french translation for choqok 1.3 in kubuntu 13.04 although it is translated in french

2013-04-19 Thread ti_tux
Public bug reported:

OS: Kubuntu 13.04 32b
package: choqok 1.3
KDE: 4.10.2

There is no french translation for choqok 1.3 in Kubuntu 13.04 although
this app is fully translated in french. Moreover a french .po file is
provided in the source tarball of choqok 1.3.

So if we can make adjustment it will be good!

Since the script you are attempting to invoke has been converted to an
Upstart job, you may also use the stop(8) and then start(8) utilities,
e.g. stop network-manager ; start network-manager. The restart(8) utility is
also available.

erm since you keep highbank as an optional kernel in the db with
your former patch from the other bug, shouldn't the isinstallable script
also keep highbank and just get generic added as an additional option ?

Rhythmbox used to have an Open to system tray option in the menu.
There is also still an option flag '--hide' in the rhythmbox-client
manpage which hasn't worked for some time, it reports Unknown Option
