[Bug 1274795] Re: no way out of scrollback mode

2014-02-05 Thread Axel Beckert
Have you tried exiting with pressing Escape? Pressing Enter (copying an
empty string) twice also still works fine for me.

About ; and , specificly: These two now have a function in copy mode and
hence no more exit copy-mode. From the man-page:

; and , Repeat the last f/F/t/T command in the same/opposite
direction.

So it's still the case that characters not serving a particular function
exit scrollback mode as expected and documented:

All keys not described here exit copy mode.

Hence closing as invalid.

This is probably also the reason why resizing the window exits copy
mode: The terminal probably sends some ANSI sequences to screen.

[Bug 1268906] Re: cpu soft lockup running kvm

2014-02-05 Thread Stefan Bader
I wonder whether this could be remotely related to bug #1265841. I don'T have
any proof there. Just stumbled over some used_math check (followed by potential
init_fpu) right at the beginning of kvm_arch_vcpu_ioctl_run. There was a longer
thread on LKML about that ([PATCH] Make math_state_restore() save and restore
the interrupt flag).
Though in this case nothing is restored, and I don't see interrupts being
disabled. Also from the stack it seems we are usually later in that function.
So this more loud thinking and putting down notes, so I do not forget

[Bug 1268906] Re: cpu soft lockup running kvm

2014-02-05 Thread Stefan Bader
OK, its not related to the eager fpu stuff. Just reproduced the same lockup
with a test kernel that contained some potential fixes from upstream. The
interesting part of the backtraces is that the EIP is changing and often not in
a function that should be able to block.
So something seems to cause the __vcpu_run (called by kvm_arch_vcpu_ioctl_run)
to spin in a relatively busy loop without ever exiting. The failed RDMSR most
likely is harmless. Checking next what that zapping shadow pages might tell
us.
Does anybody recall when (which kernel) this worked last on i386?

Sadly the 14.12 files, which are what I needed to see, are not there.
Is there any chance you might have locally build a qemu-kvm package
and installed that in the past?

I'm going to mark this incomplete right now. This doesn't mean I'm
waiting for information from you in this case, but any other information
which might arise. Hopefully we'll get to the bottom of this at some
point.

Sadly the 14.12 files, which are what I needed to see, are not there.
Is there any chance you might have locally build a qemu-kvm package
and installed that in the past?

Uhm, I do not think so (99% sure).

2014-02-05 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks,

I suspect you can fix your issue by deleting /etc/subgid.lock, dpkg
--purge openssh-server nfs-kernel-server, then re-install the openssh-
server and nfs-kernel-server.

Can you attach your related /var/log/syslog and /var/log/syslog.1 (or
other files)? I'm curious how the subgid.lock file is locked but not
removed.

Thanks

[Bug 1267255] Re: [MIR] php5 (php5-fpm binary)

2014-02-05 Thread snafu109
** Description changed:

NOTE: I only saw that where the source package is in main reports are not
required after spending most of the day writing this up. It's my first MIR so
apologies if this isn't the correct process for promoting a binary of an
existing source package - I couldn't find documentation on what to do to make
that request.

From the PHP documentation: FPM (FastCGI Process Manager) is an
alternative PHP FastCGI implementation with some additional features
  (mostly) useful for heavy-loaded sites.

  Availability:

Available in Ubuntu universe in all currently supported Ubuntu releases.
Latest release builds on all architectures (amd64, arm64, armhf, i386,
powerpc, ppc64el)[1]. Also available on Debian Wheezy (it was not
included in Squeeze as FPM was introduced to PHP core too close to
  Squeeze's release[2]).

  Rationale:

Commonly combined with nginx, and can be used with all servers supporting
FastCGI (Apache, Lighttpd, etc). With some momentum behind adding nginx to
main[3] it would be nice to have something with security support that can be
paired with it to have comparable functionality to the common apache2 +
libapache2-mod-php5 combination. According to Ubuntu popcon php5-fpm is used
regularly by 950 people, which compares favourably to nginx (nginx-common)
which is used regularly by 639 people (according to Vote stats).

  Security:

php5 is already in main so this search is limited to security issues
affecting FPM specifically. PHP FPM is included with and supported as
part of the core PHP release in all currently supported versions (5.3.x,
5.4.x and 5.5.x). It therefore has security support from the core PHP
team. It also has security support from upstream Debian.

A search for fpm on cve.mitre.org and NVD returns only CVE-2012-0831. This
appears to have been disclosed responsibly and fixed promptly (NVD shows
vulnerability release date of Feb 10, 2012. It was fixed in PHP prior to this
disclosure on Feb 2, 2012.)
The USN with updated packages was released Feb 9, 2012.

There are currently no affecting CVEs listed in Ubuntu's security tracker for
php5 package[4].
There are currently four open issues listed in Debian's security tracker (not
counting unimportant issues for php5 package[5]:

  * CVE-2010-4657 per Ubuntu tracker can't reproduce on quantal+, so does not
affect Trusty.
  * CVE-2011-1398 fixed upstream in 5.4.0, so does not affect Trusty.
  * CVE-2011-4718 fixed upstream in 5.5.2, so does not affect Trusty.
  * CVE-2012-0789 fixed upstream in 5.5.0, so does not affect Trusty.

The php5-fpm binary is installed in /usr/sbin and installs a daemon. The
daemon by default is not public facing and starts a socket listening at
  /var/run/php5-fpm.sock.

Based on this an in-depth security review is required.

  Quality assurance:

The package is automatically started after installation. Provided a web
server is correctly configured it should be possible to use this package
without any further configuration to begin serving PHP pages.

There are no debconf questions asked during installation.

  Upstream PHP FPM bugs:
https://bugs.php.net/search.php?cmd=displaypackage_name[]=FPM+related
  Debian bugs: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?pkg=php5-fpm
  Ubuntu bugs:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/php5/+bugs?field.searchtext=fpm

- Ubuntu bug 1242376 must be fixed, as this affects reloading FPM when using
- Upstart.
Ubuntu bug 1230917 must be fixed, as this affects logrotate when using
Upstart and will send weekly warning emails from cron.
Other Ubuntu bugs either require more information or relate to PHP core or a
module, not FPM.

In Debian there are currently no outstanding bugs that can be actioned.

In PHP upstream there are several relevant open bugs:
  * 55508 - feature request to listen on IPv6 addresses (current support is
limited to IPv4 and sockets)
  * 62382 - access log format for FPM shows incorrect values for server time a
request is received
  * 51983 - pm.status_path not working when cgi.fix_pathinfo=1 (long-standing,
probably minor bug)
  * 53074 - looks like upstream version of Ubuntu bug 1242376
  * 53611 - fastcgi_param PHP_VALUE pollutes other sites (possible security
issue, long-standing). Possibly related to 61867 and 63965.
  * 60961 - Graceful Restart (USR2) isn't very graceful. Possibly related to
63395.
  * 61558 - Runaway spawning of children after pipe error
  * 62172 - FPM not working with Apache httpd 2.4 balancer/fcgi setup
  * 55322, 62279 - chroot issues
  * 64626 - PHP-FPM may segfault/hang on startup

Whether any of these are blockers is up to discretion of MIR approval
team. If any are blockers then please state which ones so they can be
  tracked for a future MIR.

In Debian PTS there are several Lintian errors and warnings for php5,
however php5-fpm is clean. There is a build warning on powerpc

No, it is not part of the core language (RFC 5228); it is optional.
Still, Dovecot Pigeonhole does support it, but it is not enabled by

No, it is not part of the core language (RFC 5228); it is optional.
Still, Dovecot Pigeonhole does support it, but it is not enabled by default
(may change in the future).

Pls fix it. If its only by me, pls tell me how i could fix it.

[Bug 1213035] Re: 8086:1502 [Lenovo ThinkPad W530] e1000e module sometimes prevents suspend to ram

2014-02-05 Thread Anton Piatek
Hi Christopher @penalvch, thanks for the update. Given the intermittent
nature of the bug (not every suspend is prevented from succeeding) it is
going to be incredibly difficult for me to reproduce on a livecd. Has
anything changed in this driver that makes you think it will be better
for me? It hasn't changed between raring and saucy.

Is there a possibility of trying only a newer kernel from trusty
perhaps, then I could use it for a week as normal and see if the issue
still presents itself?

Perhaps there is some debug output I could gather that might point to a
cause? This might help determine if undocking is involved as Tim
mentions

I have what I assume is the same problem. This only happens on 2 of my 3
machines that run Ubuntu 13.10. Both of these use the Nvidia
proprientary driver. The one is a GTX 560 while the other is a GTX610M.
I've attached a picture of what it looks like when it freezes. The mouse
pointer sill moves but there is no response to input. I can use ctrl-
alt-f1 to switch to a terminal though and restarting lightdm restores my
computer to a working state.

[Bug 1276442] [NEW] libreoffice Mysql connector fails over network

2014-02-05 Thread Tim Passingham
Public bug reported:

I am running xubuntu 12.04, 32 bit, fully up to date.
I installed libreoffice 4.2.0.4 from the ubuntu libreoffice standard ppa.
This includes:

 libreoffice-mysql-connector 1.0.2+LibO4.2.0~rc4-0ubuntu1~precise4

In libreoffice 4.1.4 this mysql(native) connector worked locally and
over my home network. In 4.2.0.4 it works locally but not over my home
network,. Nothing else has changed. Mysql(JDBC) still works.

The reported error is:

[code]
SQL Status: HY000
Error code: 2002

Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
[/code]

This is odd, since I am trying to connect over my network.

The Libreoffice team have said they do not support mysql connector, but
rely on distributions such as ubuntu.

It's not only a problem of storing the level, the USB headphone is
getting sound without being selected in the ubuntu sound Panel.

[Bug 1272294] Re: qtsensors crashes on desktop as there is no platform-api backend

2014-02-05 Thread Martin Pitt
location-api and platform-api have been fixed for the dbus-cpp change
and are buildable again in trusty, so I created an MP for platform-api.
As explained above, this is a prerequisite for the qtubuntu-sensors fix,
and can safely go into trusty by itself.

[Bug 1276464] [NEW] evolution-ews missing dependency to gnome-keyring

2014-02-05 Thread Daniel
Public bug reported:

The Evolution EWS plugin is not able to work without gnome-keyring-
daemon running. But evolution-ews (3.8.4-0ubuntu1) has no dependency to
the package gnome-keyring.

In my case, I wasn't able to use evolution-ews until I found this link:
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1278922

Problem without gnome-keyring being installed is as described:

[Bug 1276443] Re: Please merge poppler 0.24.5-2 from Debian experimental

2014-02-05 Thread Dmitry Shachnev
** Patch added: ubuntu-ubuntu.debdiff

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/poppler/+bug/1276443/+attachment/3969689/+files/ubuntu-ubuntu.debdiff

** Description changed:

Debian recently uploaded new Poppler with Qt 5 support and merged some
our changes. Also, Qt 5 support there is done more properly, i.e.
qt4-visiblity.diff was extended to Qt 5, and the symbols file was added.
Thus I have prepared yet another merge.

This also greatly reduces our delta, and will make next merges easier.
+
+ Upd: reuploaded debdiffs with correct changelogs merging.

[Bug 1276504] [NEW] Please drop 56MB off gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad

2014-02-05 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad has a lot of dependnecies everything from gtk2
to libopencv and etc. In total it takes about 56MB on the ubuntu touch
images. Can we please dropgstreamer1.0-plugins-bad from ubuntu-touch
seeds?

At the moment in the seeds it says:
* gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad# bad is needed because of h264parse and faad

Maybe we can split those two into a separate package? Can gstreamer1.0-hybris
be used instead?
Also note that h264 and faad are patent encumbered and thus we have avoiding
shipping them by default on our media.

[Bug 1276467] [NEW] keyboard layout changers from de to en after restarting gnome shell 3.10

2014-02-05 Thread FoCMB
Public bug reported:

If I start my Ubuntu 14.04 with Gnome Shell 3.10 the keyboard layout is
set to de (german qwertz-layout). After restarting the gnome shell via
ALT+F2 the keyboardlayout is set to the english layout (y instead of z
and so on). So Ihave to go to keyboardsettings and reset the layout to
de. This happens after every Gnome Shell Restart, not on computer
reboot.

I tested it with other Linux Distros like Manjaro or Mint with Gnome
Shell 3.10. There is no bug like this.

[Bug 1276144] Re: Pure-ftpd overwrite protection does not work if resume is used

2014-02-05 Thread Nicolas Le Bihan
If i'm right, such a KeepAllFiles option to yes should prevent any
deletion.

In fact most of the time it is. When i tried to overwrite a file it was
doing it's job by refusing, when trying to delete also.

But, when you're doing a resume of an upload (via Filezilla for
example), even if the file is already completly uploaded, this does not
matter, an error happens bnotifying that you do not got the right to do
it, BUT file is deleted.

So at the end, the KeepAllFiles option is not preventing file
modification (file is deleted).

I'm talking about the pureftpd internal stuff, not the file system protection.
Umask was only used to permit other ftp accounts to read only data when not in
their own directory.

According to me, the problem is within pure-ftpd and how it works with
KeepAllFiles option when used and about resuming function that can lead
to bypassing the KeepAllFiles protection.

[Bug 1273334] Re: ofono does not send messages to rild when terminating

2014-02-05 Thread Alfonso Sanchez-Beato
Steps to reproduce added in bug description.

** Description changed:

When ofono is stopped (stop ofono), some messages that are supposed to
be sent to rild to clean up resources are not really sent. This happens
due to the asynchronous nature of g_ril_send(): ofono never returns to
glib's main loop after having started the termination stage of the
process. The message that is not sent is

  RIL_REQUEST_DEACTIVATE_DATA_CALL

In some modems, this leaks call-id resources and no data call can be
established after a few start/stop ofono iterations.
+
+ To reproduce:
+
+ # stop ofono
+ # export OFONO_RIL_HEX_TRACE=
+ # export OFONO_RIL_TRACE=
+ # ofonod -n -d -p ril,rilmodem,provision,mbpi,nettime,mnclength,smshistory
/tmp/ofono_log.txt
+
+ * Check that we have an active data connection
+
+ # pkill ofonod
+
+ Taking a look at the log, we should see near the end:
+
+ ofonod[]: Terminating
+ ...
+ ofonod[]: [] RIL_REQUEST_DEACTIVATE_DATA_CALL (0,0)
+ ...
+ ofonod[]: [] RIL_REQUEST_RADIO_POWER (0)
+
+ DEACTIVATE_DATA_CALL and RADIO_POWER are the two messages that we are
+ trying to send to rild, but that are not really sent. We know that
+ because a message like:
+
+ ofonod[]: Device: (... some hex data ...)
+
+ should have been printed after the request trace because we have set the
+ environment variable OFONO_RIL_HEX_TRACE. The trace is printed right
+ after sending data in grilio.c::g_ril_io_write().

[Bug 1273386] Re: Neutron namespace metadata proxy triggers kernel crash on Ubuntu 12.04/3.2 kernel

2014-02-05 Thread Stefan Bader
I would rather think that is unrelated. The backtrace looks completely
different and I would think the other issue will trigger much more
reliable than this one. Also I think that the older occurrence that
Salvatore saw were before newer versions of ovs dkms were backported
into Precise.

[Bug 1276072] Re: Language selection always falls back to English

2014-02-05 Thread A. Scheuer
Well, after a few complementary tests, I found out that this is a
lightdm bug!

In fact, on one computer (using Xubuntu), the session's options, as
session's type (Unity, Gnome, xfce, openbox, ...) and language (!), are
not kept from one session to the next, as it used to be, and need to set
manually at each connection. On the other computer (using Lubuntu),
only the type option seems to be kept, not the language which has to be
set manually...

I did not find any bug report about lightdm. Can this bug be changed, or
should I create a new one?

[Bug 1276373] Re: invalid cross-device link

2014-02-05 Thread Oliver Grawert
this expected behavior and the reason why we do not support doing dist-
upgrades on the readonly images (even if you make them read-write).

dpkg uses hardlinks when replacing files. the nature of teh readonly
image is that the filesystem spans across multiple partitions and bind
mounts, the hardlinks do not get along with that.
