Guys i'm not sure what causes this to happen, i was not able to fix it for sure i have display_errors off , phpinfo() says also i have it off, for sure this was not happening in older ubuntu versions, the legacy code is a mixture of opencart and custom code so it's really not that is to be sure why this is happening. So i will leave this issue as is and if somebody has the same problem maybe can tell more. Why don't upstream have it enabled by default already? Is this because there are negative consequences for some proportion of users? If this were a no-brainer, it'd be enabled by default upstream, right? libvirt-bin will pull in libvirtd, which will configure a virbr0, etc. I'm not sure we want to do that by default. I presume this is the original rationale for Suggests rather than Recommends or Depends. I can see that libvirt might be installed on a different machine though, so perhaps we want virsh available but not libvirtd installed and configured. Raphaël, does this sound reasonable and is this what you need? After adding hyperv feature, the guest freezes regularly. This happens on both and Windows 7 64-bit and Windows 2012 R2 guests. When removing the hyperv feature the guest acts normally, but fails with a blue screen as before. [Bug 1321354] [NEW] open samba shares become unresponsive if unused for 15 minutes
Public bug reported: I am running a windows file server with several shared folders. I access them from my Ubuntu machines on a gigabit ethernet local area network using nautilus and save the ones I need as bookmarks. I also have text files on the server that remain open so I can modify them during the day. I have done this succesfully for the last 4 years using Ubuntu clients 10.04, 12.04. I recently did clean installs on 3 of my office machines to 14.04. All 64 bit. Establishing the shares and saving them as bookmarks works as expected. I have the shares open across several workspaces. Leaving the shares open in their own windows will work only if I continue to use them. If I take the focus off the open window with the share for 15 minutes, the window becomes unresponsive if I attempt to do anything in it. I get the error message: Oops! Something went wrong. Unhandled error message: Software caused connection abort I then have to close the open window with the share which takes longer than normal to close and trying to reopen the share from nautilus also can take up to 15-20 seconds to re-open. The share will then work normally until I again stop using it for about 15 minutes, which causes a repeat of the problem. It is very consistent. Once any of the shares is made to work again, they all start working normally until the next time there is a problem. Thinking it was a Nautilus problem, I tried using both Nemo and Thunar. They also exhibit the same problem, but instead of throwing an error message, they turn their window grey for 15-20 seconds and then start working again. My current work around is to open a terminal and enter the command: sudo watch smbstatus which causes the samba server to get pinged every 2 seconds. As long as I do this, the shares all seem to work as expected again. I have 1 Ubuntu 12.04 machine in my office that continues to handle samba shares normally. 3) What you expected to happen: I expect open samba shares to remain responsive and usable no matter how long they are not the focus of activity. 4) What happened instead: Instead, if the share does not remain the focus, the share becomes unresponsive and must be restarted. [ Impact ] Nova 2014.1 was released a regression that prevented LXC containers and Xen domains from working when trying to start the container. When a user tries to start a container they will get the above traceback in the error log. This is due to libvirt-lxc/libvirt-xen not supporting the VIR_CONNECT_BASELINE_CPU_EXPAND_FEATURES feature in libvirt. [ Test Case ] 1. Install nova. 2. Configure nova to run with libvirt_type=lxc 3. Start an instance, it should be able to start with this fix applied. The /etc/init.d/samba script appears to try and start smbd/nmbd
improperly. If a user types service samba restart here is the
behavior:

I tried to track down the problem a bit by putting set -x on the init

The /etc/init.d/samba script appears to try and start smbd/nmbd
improperly. If a user types service samba restart here is the
behavior:

I tried to track down the problem a bit by putting set -x on the init
script:

So the nmbd init script appears to be exiting improperly without any

Can we PLEASE get this resolved very soonish, in an important LTS version, of all things holy? [Bug 1321415] [NEW] Big performance difference between debian and ubuntu guest
Public bug reported: Ubuntu trusty on trusty is substantially slower in apache benchmarks than debian on trusty. You can use PTS to see the difference here: http://openbenchmarking.org/result/1405191-PL-1405196PL73 I tested several releases and it does appear to be an Ubuntu vs Debian issue as opposed to a specific version. It also appears to be true if Debian is the host instead. The hosts have all been virtualized themselves (EC2, Virtualbox, kvm) 0. Started with m1.large image on canonistack (can give access if internal ip:10.55.60.136) 1. Install lxc and create an ubuntu trusty and debian jessie images, start them both. a. sudo lxc-create -t download -n ubuntu-trusty -- --dist ubuntu --release trusty --arch amd64 b. sudo lxc-create -t download -n debian-jessie -- --dist debian --release jessie --arch amd64 2. Download and install PTS on both machines (I used lxc-attach...) apt-get update; apt-get install wget; wget http://phoronix-test-suite.com/releases/repo/pts.debian/files/phoronix-test-suite_5.0.1_all.deb; dpkg -i phoronix-test-suite_5.0.1_all.deb; apt-get -f install 3. On both phoronix-test-suite install apache. 4. Then one at a time have one run: phoronix-test-suite benchmark apache and choose to upload the results. I confirm this bug, using gnome-shell in Ubuntu-GNOME 14.04. I found a simple workaround though: just launch the display properties from gnome control center and change the resolution, then change it back to the normal resolution. Yes, this issue has been fixed in 14.04LTS. The qemu-user-static:i386 works better on other embedded system (armhf and sh4 in my case). It does cause the system to hang, the user have to remove the qemu package from console to recover the system.
