[Bug 1421559] [NEW] Should be able to silence alarm using power button

2015-02-13 Thread Jonas G. Drange
Public bug reported:

Reproduce:
1. Set alarm
2. Let alarm go off, but do not turn it off immediately—do not touch the phone
surface, wait until the screen goes black
3. Try to disable alarm

What happens:
You need to turn on screen, swipe, enter pin, press OK on alarm

What should have happened:
I should be able to silence the alarm using the power button—like on iOS.

Rationale: I set two alarms on weekdays, one at 07:07 and one at 09:07.
When I wake up at 07:07 and go to school, the 09:07 alarm goes off
during class. Removing the phone from my pocket, swiping, unlocking and
dismissing the alarm, always takes about 3-4 rings. People are starting
to notice.

Related to bug 1340329.

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2015-02-13 Thread Alex Botev
I have the same bug as described on my fresh install of Ubuntu 14.04, however
I'm with a newer kernel because of problems with my wifi drivers in previous
versions, which were fixed:
Linux
3.17.3-031703-generic
#201411141335 SMP Fri Nov 14 18:36:40 UTC
2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
14.04
trusty

The problem is reproducible multiple times. After closing the laptop lid
and going in suspend for a longer period, when opened the laptop
displays the welcome screen with my wallpaper, but does not have any
field to enter password. Clicking any sound/lang icons on the menu bar
does not help, but waiting for a bit of time does.

Diagnostics so far:
So I dig a bit myself and looked at the log of lightdm, with the problem
occurring here:
[+0.28s] DEBUG: Session pid=1224: Running command
/usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm-greeter-session /usr/sbin/unity-greeter
[+0.28s] DEBUG: Creating shared data directory /var/lib/lightdm-data/lightdm
[+0.28s] DEBUG: Session pid=1224: Logging to /var/log/lightdm/x-0-greeter.log
[+0.33s] DEBUG: Activating VT 7
[+0.33s] DEBUG: Activating login1 session c1
[+0.45s] DEBUG: Session pid=1224: Greeter connected version=1.10.3
[+0.60s] DEBUG: Session pid=1224: Greeter start authentication for alex
[+0.60s] DEBUG: Session pid=1283: Started with service 'lightdm', username
'alex'
[+1.67s] DEBUG: Session pid=1283: Got 1 message(s) from PAM
[+1.67s] DEBUG: Session pid=1224: Prompt greeter with 1 message(s)
[+3.49s] DEBUG: Session pid=1283: Authentication complete with return value 0:
Success

As can be seen the period 0.60-1.67 is just waiting for the PAM service
to respond (1 minute wait). I typed my password asap as it was
available, so my guess is it is connected with the PAM service. I will
look into it, but if someone has an idea why would be great. The
/var/log/auth.log does not contain any useful information for the why
the problem is occurring.

2015-02-13 Thread Unit 193
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to report a bug; however, you have
installed the package 'libsword' from an external source and therefore
will need to report the bug to them.

The package 'libsword-common' is trying to overwrite files from
'libsword'. This presumably happened because you are trying to install
'xiphos', which depends on 'libsword11', which depends on 'libsword-
common'. I would try to remove all of those packages and reinstall only
from the Ubuntu repository so you don't run into this problem.

If this is not the case, please feel free to change the status of this
report.

[Bug 1421581] [NEW] Please add GUI for pulseaudio system-wide audio equalizer to unity-control-center

2015-02-13 Thread N. W.
Public bug reported:

Hello,

in pulseaudio bug #932834 comment #25, Pascal de Bruijn (pmjdebruijn)
wrote:

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/932834/comments/25

As I've noted before, Trusty already has the equaliser module available
 in the standard pulseaudio package:

 $ dpkg -L pulseaudio | grep eq
 /usr/lib/pulse-4.0/modules/module-equalizer-sink.so

So at least in Trusty this is actually fixed.
All the critical hard to fix blumping is now in position.

Having a GUI frontend for it, is a completely different matter,
which has nothing to do with this bug,
and has nothing to do with pulseaudio (to which this bug applies).

If one were to have a proper equalizer GUI frontend in Ubuntu,
it would have to be integrated into unity-control-center's sound panel:

 $ dpkg -L unity-control-center | grep -i panels | grep -i sound
 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/unity-control-center-1/panels/libsound.so

So for that a feature request would have to be filed against
 the unity-control-center package.

Which is what I wanna do hereby.

Could you please add a GUI for the pulseaudio system-wide audio
equalizer to unity-control-center?

There already is a GUI tool available, which is called qpaeq, see:

http://www.webupd8.org/2013/03/install-pulseaudio-with-built-in-
system.html

Maybe it could simply be integrated into unity-control-center?

A user friendly system-wide audio equalizer is long overdue in Ubuntu
IMHO and would be much appreciated.

Regards

[Bug 1373560] Re: /etc/cron.daily/spamassassin calls sa-update with potentially incorrect umask

2015-02-13 Thread Rasmus Borup Hansen
I ran into this bug as well and checked if it's also present in Debian.
It appears that from spamassassin 3.4.0-2 the relevant code is:

# Update
umask 022
env -i LANG=$LANG PATH=$PATH start-stop-daemon \
--chuid debian-spamd:debian-spamd --start \
--exec /usr/bin/sa-update -- \
--gpghomedir /var/lib/spamassassin/sa-update-keys 21

When using start-stop-daemon to invoke sa-update the umask is not
changed, so updating to this version will fix the bug.

[Bug 1421575] [NEW] Desktop corruption when changing monitor config

2015-02-13 Thread Alan Pope 
Public bug reported:

Thinkpad X220 running vivid up to date.

Usually sits in docking station with external monitor.

Today I ran the laptop outside the docking station, and plugged it into
the dock while running (which worked fine forever on utopic) but today
it now freaks out.

I deleted ~/.config/monitors.xml to reset my display config

I restarted and logged in with both monitors active.

As soon as I change the display config doing the display corrupts,
flickers and becomes unusable.

[Bug 972604] Re: 168c:001c [HP Compaq Presario C700 Notebook PC] Wireless led button doesn't switch colors

2015-02-13 Thread cristian
I tried the second test kernel and the results are very similar to the
first test kernel: rfkill list output shows only phy0 interface, no
(back)traces in dmesg | tail output. If I press the wifi switch button,
network manager applet doesn't show any changes (no changes for rfkill

[Bug 1421375] Re: AttributeError when attempting to access _sys.maxint

2015-02-13 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Adam, or anyone else affected,

Accepted python-netaddr into trusty-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-
netaddr/0.7.10-1ubuntu1.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1420404] Re: Name entry in desktop file not localized

2015-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Ok, that was fun debugging, summmary of the issue

- g_app_info_get_display_name()  calls g_dgettext()
- g_dgettext() decides on the translation strategy based on the return of the
first call
- ubuntu-system-settings main.cpp calls initTr(I18N_DOMAIN, nullptr) with
I18N_DOMAIN = ubuntu-system-settings, so that's fine, but then when the
MainView component is initialized, the domain is overwritten with the
applicationName value, which is SystemSettings
- the first u-s-s call to g_dgettext() is made after that init, which has the
wrong domain and leads to d_gettext() settling for translations shouldn't be
active there

to add to the fun

- under unity7 the first call to g_dgettext() is made on start by
external component providing desktop integration (theme, appmenu, ...),
those calls success and enable translations, workarounding the
previously described issues ... those components are not enabled under
Mir though which explains why the bug seen only under unity8

In summary, changing applicationName to be ubuntu-system-settings (which is
what the documentation suggests, it states that should = desktop name) should
fix it, I'm submitting a fix for it

[Bug 1420956] Re: hard-coded to use OpenSSL TLSv1_method

2015-02-13 Thread Daniel Pocock
For trusty, the debdiff is a bit bigger because it includes all upstream
fixes between 1.9.6 and 1.9.7.

They are itemized one by one in the upstream Git branch for 1.9.x:

https://github.com/resiprocate/resiprocate/commits/resiprocate-1.9

The most critical of these fixes is:

https://github.com/resiprocate/resiprocate/commit/645c9f461ca6e2d9d5167cc9c0ca4781c3e7c19b

Without the fix, some connections are incorrectly closed if there are
outstanding issues in the OpenSSL error queue.

This is therefore a compelling fix for any trusty user.

[Bug 1420404] Re: Name entry in desktop file not localized

2015-02-13 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue I debugged, which is what Victor reported on IRC, is that the
name doesn't show translated in the notifications panel. Since that got
uses gappinfo to get the name it should get the translations through
gettext. We might still need to unstrip the .desktop as well though
because unity8 doesn't use gettext to get the display name iirc

[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2015-02-13 Thread Alex Botev
Also if you could answer the question in #108 this could help us a lot
to further debug if necessary the PAM module.

And to add, I'm also using a finger print reader (fprintd) as an authentication
before the password, but there are some interesting facts about it(before
anyone jump and point fingers there):
It has a timeout of 10s, the wait for the password text area is ~1 min
If I suspend the laptop manually and wake it it uses the fingerprint reader
normally.
If I close the lid and open it - the finger print reader authentication is not
available and the bug occurs.
Conclusion:
Possibly the fprintd.so library is not loaded for some reason on lid open, or
the PAM module encounters some problems, after which it falls back (somehow) to
the unix password. Again if you answer #108 would be most appreciated.

[Bug 1420601] Re: Systemd_218-6ubuntu1 and later cannot connect to network except via USB

2015-02-13 Thread Martin Pitt
It's actually very likely that this is due to bug 1421556. I'm going to
fix that soon; can you please test the next version as soon as I upload
it, and complain here if it still doesn't work?

If you want, you can also test this right away already, by replacing
/lib/systemd/system/ifup@.service with the attached file.

Thanks!

[Bug 1326739] Re: ubunutu 14.04 resume instantly from suspend mode

2015-02-13 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
leandro, you gave the wrong PC information in the Bug Description.

Despite this, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available
from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are
irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder)
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow
additional upstream developers to examine the issue.

If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into
the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test
the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once
you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Where XY and Z are numbers corresponding to the kernel version.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-3.XY-rcZ

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's
Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1421588] [NEW] Installer crashes on Dell Inspiron 17-5000

Public bug reported:

Windows 8.1 is pre-installed.
I disabled secure boot, windows fast start and legacy boot option.
I prepared 3 partitions using the Windows disk tool (Gparted crashes or freezes

- sda6 for grub (unusual for me, not used on my previous computers, but
required according some forums)
- sda7 for /
- sda8 for /home
Is something wrong in what I did ?

[Bug 1362848] Re: ubuntu 14.04 after install nvidia binary driver 331.89 black screen and freeze

2015-02-13 Thread Andrew Frolikov
@ajat-pandita I wouldn't say that  #15/#18 is a confirmed workaround. It's a
workaround for SOME people. I tried both approaches and some other (even tried
3.18 kernel). Problem still persist for my hardware (Intel + GT750). Seems like
something was broken with nvidia drivers since the moment my 14.04.1 had been
updated to 3.13.0-45 kernel. I even tried re-install system. It didn't help.
Maybe it's something in my ~/.config or another of such kind of directories
(because i keep my /home partition untouchable when i re-install system) - i
don't know.
If someone who's going to tackle this problem needs any logs i will gladly
provide them.

Best regards

[Bug 1421601] [NEW] Please update xserver-xorg-video-ati (xf86-video-ati) to the latest version

2015-02-13 Thread N. W.
Public bug reported:

Hello,

xserver-xorg-video-ati (xf86-video-ati) in vivid is still at version
7.4.0 (at the time of writing this), see:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/vivid/xserver-xorg-video-ati

But the latest version (at the time of writing this) is 7.5.0, see:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-ati/

Debian already has 7.5.0, see:

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=xserver-xorg-video-
atisearchon=namessuite=allsection=all
