[Bug 1428808] [NEW] Keyboard Shortcuts overlay font size practically unreadable
Public bug reported: As with other areas of Unity, it seems the Keyboard Shortcut overlay (visible when holding in the super key) is not properly rendering fonts at the correct size. Please see the attached screenshot. The numbers that appear on top applications in the unity launcher are very difficult to read because they are so small. (Launcher width is set to 36px, but even when set at the default of 48, they are still difficult to read because of how they blend with the background icons. They need to be bigger, fill up the entire area of the shaded, rounded square, and have a black outline or something to make them stick out more. The text of the actual Keyboard Shortcuts help window is so small that I have to get very close to the screen to read it, and even then the words are not very clear at such a small size with only a 128 DPI screen. There is so much empty space on this screen, I can think of no reason not to make them all bigger to at the very least fill up the space! ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: Screenshot from 2015-03-05 12:50:33.jpg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1428808/+attachment/4335451/+files/Screenshot%20from%202015-03-05%2012%3A50%3A33.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1428808 Title: Keyboard Shortcuts overlay font size practically unreadable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1428808/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1392176] Re: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug
Can you explain what the patch does ? This will help us figure out why its not working. The pach is: implement -M to support skip mounting certain controllers So you need to start cgmanager with -M cpuset to get the behavior you are looking for. The changelog entry said: This doesn't change the default, so may not suffice for powerpc, but at least offers a workaround. (LP: #1392176) So it is a starting point and gives you a workaround. It seesm to me that this is something that should be configurable in the kernel. It also seems worthwhile for cgmanager to watch for cpu hotplug events and do something when it gets those. But exactly what it should do and how this is best implemented is not clear to me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1392176 Title: mounts cgroups unconditionally which causes undesired effects with cpu hotplug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cgmanager/+bug/1392176/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in the application being used for the package installation process. Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package again? This process will create a new bug report so I am marking this one as Invalid. Thanks again for helping out! [This is an automated message. [Bug 1428853] [NEW] Need automated tests to help find issues when setting up and starting unity8-lxc
Public bug reported: There are many moving pieces to getting a Unity 8 session running in an LXC. Adding automated tests aimed at exercising the main parts of the whole process will help in detecting any issues. Areas that should have automated tests: 1. Making sure unity8-lxc-setup can download the Ubuntu Next ISO and successfully create LXC config and the rootfs. 2. Making sure the unity8-lxc can start successfully and obtain an IP address. 3. Making sure the Unity 8 session itself can start from LightDM login. Exercising those 3 areas will go a long way of assuring any issues will be detected along the way. Ideally, there should be daily smoke tests for the intended targets as package updates to the host and changes in the ISO itself can cause failures. Intended targets are supported Ubuntu release and the current development release as hosts and the daily Ubuntu Next ISO found at http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-desktop-next/daily-live/current/ as the LXC rootfs. ** Affects: unity8-preview-lxc Importance: High Assignee: Christopher Townsend (townsend) Status: Confirmed ** Affects: unity8-lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Christopher Townsend (townsend) Status: Confirmed ** Also affects: unity8-lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity8-preview-lxc Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: unity8-lxc (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed ** Changed in: unity8-preview-lxc Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: unity8-lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: unity8-preview-lxc Assignee: (unassigned) = Christopher Townsend (townsend) ** Changed in: unity8-lxc (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Christopher Townsend (townsend) ** Changed in: unity8-preview-lxc Milestone: None = 1.0.4 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1428853 Title: Need automated tests to help find issues when setting up and starting unity8-lxc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity8-preview-lxc/+bug/1428853/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1428811] [NEW] Trusty hwe kernel (utopic) gpio shutdown trigger for ProLiant m400 cartridges
Public bug reported: This is an additional change following after the m800 bug (LP: #1347776) and m400 bug (LP: #1354306), udev/systemd needs a rule to cover triggering a graceful shutdown on the HP Proliant m400 Cartridge when running the utopic hwe kernel in trusty. [Impact] Currently, graceful shutdown via the iLO works when running the base trusty kernel, but if the hwe kernel is installed, it stops. [Test Case] Initiate a graceful shutdown via the iLO. [Regression Potential] The new rule is pretty tightly bound to the m400 system - so the risk of this rule matching and impacting behavior on a different platform is minimal. This will presumably cause new code to run and read /proc/device-tree/model on other platforms - but this is already done for the m800 system in both utopic and trusty as well as the 3.13.0 kernel m400 rule. ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1428811 Title: Trusty hwe kernel (utopic) gpio shutdown trigger for ProLiant m400 cartridges To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1428811/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1425803] Re: Driver problem with USB chipset VIA VL812-B2
Kernel 4.0-rc2 tested. Problem remains. In rc2 there was a minimal fglrx driver in the kernel so I was able to get a more usual desktop and use the graphical system monitor app. The manifestation of the problem is slightly different now. Total CPU usage still goes to 24 - 25% when a USB 3.0 hub is plugged in, but the khubd process does not seem to take excessive CPU time. Instead, the kworker and ksoftirqd processes take it all up. The kworker thread(s) take in total about 17% and the ksoftirqd thread(s) about 7%. The problem remains the same in all other aspects. It is present with hubs using the VIA or Genesyslogic chipsets. Excessive CPU usage continues even after the external hubs are disconnected. The cure remains to unbind and then bind the xhci_hcd driver serving the internal USB 3.0 hub. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425803 Title: Driver problem with USB chipset VIA VL812-B2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1425803/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The machine type used by the instance I tried to live migrate is 'pc- i440fx-1.5'. This means the source 'pc-i440fx-1.5' mahine type is not compatible with the destination 'pc-i440fx-1.5' machine type. A workaround has been introduced in QEMU 2.0 to allow incoming qemu-kvm instances (pc-1.0) to be properly translated to pc-1.0-precise) using the allow_incoming_qemukvm libvirt config. But since the default machine type changed between QEMU 1.0 (pc-1.0) and 1.5 (pc-i440fx-1.5), the above workaround doesn't work for people running QEMU 1.5 introduced by UCA.
