Re: [Bug 1460365] Re: 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system

2015-06-01 Thread Bryan Cebuliak
Thank you, Christopher Penalver, for your prompt response. I updated the
BIOS from 5.16 to 5.22 as you directed via the Windows Vista partition.
All aforementioned Ubuntu Linux kernels, old, new official 15.04 and
upstream now boot properly on the machine [and even the Debian partition
kernels] :) The BIOS update successfully worked around the kernel bug.

On 31 May 2015 at 23:27, Christopher M. Penalver
christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com wrote:

 Bryan Cebuliak, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
 better. As per http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-
 Pavilion-a6700-Desktop-PC-series/3823602/model/3830446 an update to your
 computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (5.22). If you update to
 this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it
 change anything?

 If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide
 the output of the following terminal command:
 sudo dmidecode -s bios-version  sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

 For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
 .

 Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
 posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
 have to create a new bug report.

 Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
 please mark this report Status Confirmed.

 Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1448548] Re: OpenJDK 8 Apt-Get Install Doesn't Generate openjdk-8-java.desktop File

2015-06-01 Thread Josep Pujadas-Jubany
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (32  64 bit) up-to-date
Lubuntu 14.04 LTS (32  64 bit) up-to-date

No openjdk-7-java.desktop file at /usr/share/applications

However, jar files are associated to openjdk-7-java.desktop at
/usr/share/applications/defaults.list
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache

At Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (32  64 bit) up-to-date file openjdk-6-java.desktop
exists.

Workaround. Create  /usr/share/applications/openjdk-7-java.desktop
similar to /usr/share/applications/openjdk-6-java.desktop

The contents should be:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime
Comment=OpenJDK Java 7 Runtime
Exec=cautious-launcher %f /usr/bin/java -jar
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Icon=openjdk-7
MimeType=application/x-java-archive;application/java-archive;application/x-jar;
NoDisplay=true

Many people are claiming for this problem. Yo u can search it at Google:

missing openjdk-7-java.desktop

[Bug 1453185] Re: resolvconf: updates are not enabled right after installation

2015-06-01 Thread Martin Pitt
Thanks Thomas for the review! I cleaned up the three issues you
mentioned.

Out of interest, do you plan to keep /etc/resolvconf/run in Debian? To
me this has always appeared to be a transitional thing in Debian, as
going through that indirection is a bit confusing and also cluttering of
/etc.

+- debian/postinst: Make /etc/resolv.conf a relative symlink so that it
+ works when setting up chroots.

This also seems useful in Debian?

[Bug 1460539] [NEW] Transparency windows on gramps software

2015-06-01 Thread Yionel
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I have vivid version and with old or new kernel, I have a transparency windows
on gramps software. It's difficult to use it.
I found solution here :
http://askubuntu.com/questions/485987/how-do-i-stop-system-monitor-from-being-transparent

With dconf setting : gsettings set com.canonical.desktop.interface
scrollbar-mode normal

Scrollbar affects transparency, I don't know why (compiz or other stuff)
but it's problematic.

Thank you
Lionel

[Bug 1448548] Re: OpenJDK 8 Apt-Get Install Doesn't Generate openjdk-8-java.desktop File

2015-06-01 Thread Josep Pujadas-Jubany
/usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache has a line:

application/x-java-archive=file-roller.desktop;

and should be:

application/x-java-archive=openjdk-7-java.desktop;file-roller.desktop;

In fact, in a 12.04 LTS system with openjdk-6-java.desktop the line is:

application/x-java-archive=openjdk-6-java.desktop;file-roller.desktop;

I don't know if it is a bug or somebody decided not to permit the
double-click for java files.

[Bug 1457038] Re: Builing the -dbgsym packages for cpl-plugin-* fails

2015-06-01 Thread Martin Pitt
This is a packaging bug in cpl-plugin-*:

override_dh_gencontrol-indep:
dh_gencontrol
[...]

If you want to do that (-indep), you also have to call dh_gencontrol
with -i.

Anyway, I'll add a workaround into p-c-d.

[Bug 1460629] [NEW] no access with 9p qemu-kvm filesystem

2015-06-01 Thread Ulli Horlacher
Public bug reported:

I have a KVM host and a guest (VM), both with Ubuntu 14,04
I want to mount a filesystem from the host by the VM via 9p.
When using the setup described in
http://www.linux-kvm.org/page/9p_virtio
I can mount the host directory:

root@flupp:/# mount | grep /spool_
/spool_mapped on /spool_mapped type 9p (rw,trans=virtio,version=9p2000.L)
/spool_passthrough on /spool_passthrough type 9p
(rw,trans=virtio,version=9p2000.L)
/spool_squash on /spool_squash type 9p (rw,trans=virtio,version=9p2000.L)

but when I try to access files I get errors:

[Bug 1460629] Re: no access with 9p qemu-kvm filesystem

2015-06-01 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1460629/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

In general, the cloud-config disk setup and/or filesystem stanza will
not result in a persisting ext4 ephemeral disk in before mentioned
sequences, in which the ephemeral disk often (but strangely, not always)
returns to ntfs format.

The above suggests (on the one hand) an impossibility to use ephemeral
disk space for swap purposes and (on the other hand) a bug in the Azure
fabric, causing defined swap spaces to be lost when returning to the
ntfs format.

Naturally, an added (non-ephemeral) disk can be used for swap purposes,
but this is not adviceable.

Furthermore, configuring the waagent.conf variables
ResourceDisk.Format=y would resolve the Azure fabric issue.

In conclusion, cloud-init and the Azure fabric are not really
interacting properly, with respect to swap spaces.

Any advances on the cloud-init front?

Kind regards...

[Bug 1455773] Re: mysql will not start after 5.5 to 5.6 upgrade

2015-06-01 Thread km
Can't be sure, but I think its a general problem. If you want to try and
reproduce it try:

* Start with 14.04 with mysql server installed, configured, and running.
* /etc/apparmor.d should contain a profile file usr.sbin.mysqld
* Do the upgrade first to 14.10 and then to 15.04
* When doing the upgrades you will be asked if you want to supply a password
for mysql server. Just say continue
(motivation, you are not trying to change mysqld password)
* check /etc/apparmor.d. If it has the old usr.sbin.mysqld (and an uninstalled
dist file) you have hit the bug

The old apparmor (5.5) profile cannot work with the updated (5.6)
mysqld.

Re: [Bug 1453185] Re: resolvconf: updates are not enabled right after installation

2015-06-01 Thread Martin Pitt
Hey THomas,

Thomas Hood [2015-06-01  8:35 -]:
 Is there something we should do to silence those insserv warnings?
 insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (2 3 4 5) of script `resolvconf'
 overrides LSB defaults (S).
 insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 6) of script `resolvconf'
 overrides LSB defaults (0 6).

It looks like your installation still has rc[2-5].d/ start symlinks
for resolvconf? insserv won't override them on upgrade. So perhaps an
older version of insserv used to call update-rc.d with specific
runlevels and priorities, that was cleaned up later to use LSB
headers, but they didn't match? For that case you need a postinst
snippet to correct the links before the (debhelper generated)
update-rc.d call, if you care. However, this is of course a bit
brittle to get right in all corner cases..

[Bug 1460586] Re: Unpredictable drag and drop copy/move

2015-06-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please

[Bug 1370017] Re: Unity Lockscreen shows unlocked desktop while shutting down

2015-06-01 Thread Margarita Manterola
This bug is still present in Trusty with the latest Unity version
(7.2.5+14.04.20150521.1-0ubuntu1).

The verification instructions were wrong and this bug never actually got
fixed.

[Bug 1446177] Re: Nodeinfo returns wrong NUMA topology / bad virtualization performance

2015-06-01 Thread Stefan Bader
Ok, the first round of packages is there at:
[http://people.canonical.com/~smb/lp1446177/ ]. Download the two debs
and install them with dpkg -i *.deb. Then go through the following
commands (to get a cleaner log):

sudo service libvirt-bin stop
sudo cp /dev/null /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log
sudo service libvirt-bin start

After that, please attach a copy of the /var/log/libvirt/libvirtd.log to
the report. Thanks!

[Bug 1460365] Re: 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system

2015-06-01 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Bryan Cebuliak, just to clarify, if you updated your BIOS and a problem
went away, then the bug was in the BIOS, not the kernel. Despite this,
this bug report is being closed due to your last comment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1460365/comments/35
regarding this being fixed with a BIOS update. For future reference you
can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status
in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the revealed drop
down box. You can learn more about bug statuses at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status. Thank you again for taking the time
to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please submit any
future bugs you may find.

[Bug 1460618] [NEW] package ubuntu-extras-keyring 2010.09.27 failed to install/upgrade: underprocessen installerade post-installation-skript gav felkod 2

2015-06-01 Thread NiklasW

security Release: The following signatures could not be verified to open
the open key that is not available: NO_PUBKEY 40976EAF437D05B5 NO_PUBKEY

again, but didn''t help. Then i tried to sudo apt-get install
--reinstall ubuntu-extras-keyring, but then this happened, and tthere
was an error trying to reinstall that package, so now that install is
incomplete. It told me that the subprocess installed post-installation-
script returned error code 2, and E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned
an error code (1)

Note that some of my error-messages are in swedish, so some of this is
just a rough translate. If you could help me resolve this, that would be
much appriciated.. I can be reached at p...@niklaswallenius.se for more
info.

Flagged as a security vulnerability as I am now forced to install
packages without authentication.
