Re: [Bug 1460365] Re: 3.19 kernels in 15.04 do not work on my 32bit system
Thank you, Christopher Penalver, for your prompt response. I updated the BIOS from 5.16 to 5.22 as you directed via the Windows Vista partition. All aforementioned Ubuntu Linux kernels, old, new official 15.04 and upstream now boot properly on the machine [and even the Debian partition kernels] :) The BIOS update successfully worked around the kernel bug. On 31 May 2015 at 23:27, Christopher M. Penalver christopher.m.penal...@gmail.com wrote: Bryan Cebuliak, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. As per http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP- Pavilion-a6700-Desktop-PC-series/3823602/model/3830446 an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (5.22). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then please mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1453185] Re: resolvconf: updates are not enabled right after installation
Thanks Thomas for the review! I cleaned up the three issues you mentioned. Out of interest, do you plan to keep /etc/resolvconf/run in Debian? To me this has always appeared to be a transitional thing in Debian, as going through that indirection is a bit confusing and also cluttering of /etc. +- debian/postinst: Make /etc/resolv.conf a relative symlink so that it + works when setting up chroots. [Bug 1460629] Re: no access with 9p qemu-kvm filesystem
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1460629/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1374166] Re: Document how to add swap space on Azure resource disk
Daniel, Defining swap with cloud-config will not result in a persistent swap space across shutdown and restart sequences on Azure. In general, the cloud-config disk setup and/or filesystem stanza will not result in a persisting ext4 ephemeral disk in before mentioned sequences, in which the ephemeral disk often (but strangely, not always) returns to ntfs format. The above suggests (on the one hand) an impossibility to use ephemeral disk space for swap purposes and (on the other hand) a bug in the Azure fabric, causing defined swap spaces to be lost when returning to the ntfs format. Naturally, an added (non-ephemeral) disk can be used for swap purposes, but this is not adviceable. Furthermore, configuring the waagent.conf variables ResourceDisk.Format=y would resolve the Azure fabric issue. In conclusion, cloud-init and the Azure fabric are not really interacting properly, with respect to swap spaces. Any advances on the cloud-init front? Kind regards... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374166 Title: Document how to add swap space on Azure resource disk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1374166/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If it has the old usr.sbin.mysqld (and an uninstalled dist file) you have hit the bug The old apparmor (5.5) profile cannot work with the updated (5.6) mysqld. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-5.6 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1455773 Title: mysql will not start after 5.5 to 5.6 upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.6/+bug/1455773/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 1453185] Re: resolvconf: updates are not enabled right after installation
Hey THomas, Thomas Hood [2015-06-01 8:35 -]: Is there something we should do to silence those insserv warnings? insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (2 3 4 5) of script `resolvconf' overrides LSB defaults (S). insserv: warning: current stop runlevel(s) (0 1 6) of script `resolvconf' overrides LSB defaults (0 6). It looks like your installation still has rc[2-5].d/ start symlinks for resolvconf? insserv won't override them on upgrade. So perhaps an older version of insserv used to call update-rc.d with specific runlevels and priorities, that was cleaned up later to use LSB headers, but they didn't match? For that case you need a postinst snippet to correct the links before the (debhelper generated) update-rc.d call, if you care. [Bug 1460618] [NEW] package ubuntu-extras-keyring 2010.09.27 failed to install/upgrade: underprocessen installerade post-installation-skript gav felkod 2
Public bug reported: Got a large number of W: GPG-errors: http://security.ubuntu.com trusty- security Release: The following signatures could not be verified to open the open key that is not available: NO_PUBKEY 40976EAF437D05B5 NO_PUBKEY when trying to sudo apt-get update. Tried to dowload them all again, but didn''t help. Then i tried to sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-extras-keyring, but then this happened, and tthere was an error trying to reinstall that package, so now that install is incomplete. It told me that the subprocess installed post-installation- script returned error code 2, and E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) Note that some of my error-messages are in swedish, so some of this is just a rough translate. If you could help me resolve this, that would be much appriciated.. I can be reached at p...@niklaswallenius.se for more info. Flagged as a security vulnerability as I am now forced to install packages without authentication.
