[Bug 1672950] [NEW] nautilus launched from Unity8 opens a 'Desktop' window
Public bug reported: nautilus launched from Unity8 opens a 'Desktop' window. It needs to be run with --no-desktop to avoid that. Even easier workaround for Mir/USC: Just default to clone mode instead of side-by-side, which is the problem in today's duplicate bug 1672793. [Bug 1553328] Re: Mir/Unity8/USC crashes/freezes on nouveau (nv50) in pushbuf_kref() especially with multiple monitors, webbrowser-app or system settings
Per comment #17 it might actually be easiest to build a workaround in Mir for now... Either disable secondary compositor threads, or build a SingleThreadedCompositor to replace MultiThreadedCompositor. In my spare time I'm working on an idea where post() could be made non- blocking. So that would eliminate the need for Mir's compositor to be threaded, and nouveau should then work (as well as it ever did for X). ** Changed in: mir Status: Invalid => Confirmed ** Changed in: mir Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Tags added: multimonitor ** Changed in: qtmir (Ubuntu) Importance: Critical => Medium ** Changed in: qtmir (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1553328 Title: Mir/Unity8/USC crashes/freezes on nouveau (nv50) in pushbuf_kref() especially with multiple monitors, webbrowser-app or system settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1553328/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1672401] Re: Lacks animated transition between greeter and session
OK, I see a couple of seconds of blackness on a Xeon desktop still (even after the dbus fix landed) so it's easy to extrapolate that a VM will have even more noticeable blackness. This is possibly related to Unity8 setting up/compiling QML things. Although it would be nice to have transitions in USC (and that's the whole point of it existing and the nested architecture), that's probably just a "nice to have" on the USC side. I would like to be responsible for that too, as native GL animation is something close to my heart and what I've been working toward in the Mir architecture for years. ** Also affects: unity-system-compositor Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity-system-compositor Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: unity-system-compositor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Summary changed: - Lacks animated transition between greeter and session + Screen is black for too long during login to Unity8 ** Tags added: black-screen -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1672401 Title: Screen is black for too long during login to Unity8 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1672401/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
