[Bug 1700318] [NEW] [Satellite L745, Conexant CX20585, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2017-06-24 Thread Geoffrey P.
Public bug reported:

1) Description: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:16.04

2) alsa-base:
  Installed: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5
  Candidate: 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu5
  Version table:

500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I expected to have working sound. On an upgrade from 14.04 LTS I
would get an occasional pop or intro sound as Ubuntu booted up and then
it would be silent. I worked through all of the sound guides I could but
nothing worked. Actually, now I don't even get any sound at all.

4) Silence will fall when the question is asked, happened.

2017-06-24 Thread Snwint-g
Thanks a lot!

Then, AIUI, the only thing left is to recognize the video mode as 32bit even
though it's advertised as 24bit, right? Can we do that by adding up the
rgb+reserved bits and use this if the sum is > than bits_per_pixel?

If you mind adding a workaround for broken VGABIOS, yes that's the
solution.

Please note that the bpp is correctly advertised in SeaBios git.
With the next stable release this issue will be fixed, too.

Please not for me this bug prevents me from performing updates to system.
i can only run Ubuntu, with Linux 4.8.0-54-generic.

If i run the 4.10.0-24 or 4.10.0-22 the system will halt at a black screen and
go no farther.
Also if i attempt to install updates or repair anything in the system; the two
above linix version loaders change. Originally they were 4.10.0-10 and
4.10.0-13.

Sorry, I've been away from the computer for a while. Hope this helps.

Incidentally, running Software updater now responds "Failed to download
repository information - Check your internet connection" Internet is
fine immediately before and after each attempt.

Thanks

[Bug 1700297] [NEW] urjtag-0.10 : xpc_int/xpc_ext 'detect' produces urjtag warning : TDO seems to be stuck at 1

2017-06-24 Thread Jason Mours
Public bug reported:

urjtag-0.10 is having problems executing 'detect' with the following
output after ~several min.

jtag> cable xpc_int
firmware version = 0x0517 (1303)
cable CPLD version = 0x0012 (18)
jtag> detect
urjtag warning : TDO seems to be stuck at 1
jtag> print
error: illegal state: Run "detect"first
jtag>

or

jtag> cable xpc_ext
firmware version = 0x0517 (1303)
cable CPLD version = 0x0012 (18)
jtag> detect
urjtag warning : TDO seems to be stuck at 1
jtag> print
error: illegal state: Run "detect"first
jtag>

I'm trying to use a Xilinx DLC9G to jtag to a wpe72nx. I have the usb
drivers and binaries from the 14.7SDK installed and the udev rules are
in place. It lights up when plugged in. The firmware loads xpc_int or
xpc_ext inside jtag. Then no joy.

Other Xenial kernels (linux-image-4.8.0-56-generic, linux-

I am sorry, there is a typo (a semicolon where should be none) in the
for loop of the workaround. The correct command should be:

$ for a in rmid java keytool jjs pack200 rmiregistry unpack200 orbd
servertool tnameserv jexec ; do sudo update-alternatives --auto "$a" ;
done

[Bug 1700292] [NEW] Removing package openjdk-9-jre-headless does not delete/change links in Debian Alternatives System

2017-06-24 Thread mrkramps
Public bug reported:

This issue affects Ubuntu 16.04.

When having openjdk-8-jre-headless (8u131-b11-0ubuntu1.16.04.2)
installed and installing openjdk-9-jre-headless (9~b114-0ubuntu1) all
links in the Debian Alternatives System are changed pointing to JRE 9:
