[Bug 1741081] Re: zfs-import-cache.service fails on startup

2018-03-02 Thread Fabian Grünbichler
IMHO this is completely backwards, see
https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/pull/7259 for an upstream discussion
similar to this.

systemd service units are not the proper place to load modules - there
is {/lib,/etc}/modules-load.d/ which gets parsed by systemd-load-
modules.service early in the boot process, and ZoL even ships a
(disabled by default) snippet for /lib that supports. just flip that one
to enabled (admin can override via /etc) and you don't need to introduce
bogus services.

[Bug 1752817] Re: grub2 shows both theme-styled menu and text-based menu

2018-03-02 Thread Timur Nitt
You can ignore the last warning I wrote. The edited text works in both cases,
if you set 'GRUB_THEME' or not.
For me, I changed

  terminal_output --append ${GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT}

to

  terminal_output ${GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT}

in file '/etc/grub.d/00_header' and exe'ed an 'update-grub' - that's
all.

[Bug 1629251] Re: Some app-indicators not showing menus

2018-03-02 Thread dino99
@Simon

If you think understanding that report, tell me why 'importance' & 'assigned to
' are still not set by devs ?
When that report have been opened (2016), there was a transitional time where
many users have hit the problem, then only a few (with rolling systems/mixed
install/...)
About xenial, it will never receive 'cosmetic' fixed but only 'security' ones
and maybe some SRU/backport; nothing related to such report.

So you can still spend your time to undo what i have set, its useless
and does not help to get solutions nor 'makes ubuntu better'.

[Bug 1752817] Re: grub2 shows both theme-styled menu and text-based menu

2018-03-02 Thread Timur Nitt
There's a workaround to hide the ugly text-based menu: I've checked the
/boot/grub/grub.cfg file and find out, if you change the line and its
content

  'terminal_output --append gfxterm'

to

  'terminal_output gfxterm'

in paragraph '00_header' the text-based menu won't be shown.

Paragraph '00_header' is part of file '/etc/grub.d/00_header', which is
part of package 'grub-common'.

Warning: Editing the line and its ensuing behavior is checked while
'GRUB_THEME' is set to a theme file only.

[Bug 1629251] Re: Some app-indicators not showing menus

2018-03-02 Thread Simon Quigley
> Unity is dead; nobody will spend time about it.

You're wrong there, Unity is still maintained and will be for the rest
of the 16.04 cycle at minimum.

Also, about the "mixed install" part of this, that shouldn't matter, as
this is reported against appmenu-qt.

Please, stop marking the status to Invalid. Let's keep it at New where
it belongs.

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Lately one of my boxes reproducably freezes when I copy data from
internal hard disk to an USB device (USB hard disk or USB key). It looks
like it works at first, than the "wait for IO load" in the system
monitor applet rises to max and the system does no longer respond to
input, only hard reboot brings it back to life.

When booting the previous kernel 4.13.0-32 all is fine. Do I boot to -36
  the error is back.

I append a lshw dump as text file.
  The hardware basically:

[Bug 1613737] Re: Proftpd - MLSD lines not properly terminated with CRLF

2018-03-02 Thread Simon Quigley
Unsubscribing ~ubuntu-sponsors for now because this is not ready to
sponsor quite yet.

Please fill out the bug report as requested for SRUs in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates and resubscribe once that
is done. Also, in your debdiff, please use the version "1.3.5a-1.1"
instead of "1.3.5a-1build2"; the Security Team has a nice page
describing version numbers in stable releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/UpdatePreparation#Update_the_packaging
- and I would also exclude mention of that from the DEP-3 header (thanks
for that!).

Thank you for your contribution to Ubuntu, and I look forward to getting
this sorted!

[Bug 1592405] Re: plymouth hook in initramfs needs font but doesn't Depend on it

2018-03-02 Thread Jb
Earlier in the install I see that it says it lists "fonts-deja" as a
*suggested* (but not installed) package. fonts-deja includes fonts-
dejavu-core and fonts-dejavu-extra.

Simple fix is to bump "fonts-deja" to be a dependency?

[Bug 1752906] Re: Error in execution of

2018-03-02 Thread Andrew Ziem
I see you are using the old BleachBit 1.10. Please note that Ubuntu
repositories often have ancient versions of BleachBit because they do
not update them except with a new Ubuntu release. The latest Ubuntu
release will have a new version of BleachBit, but the older Ubuntu
versions have old versions of BleachBit.

This is problematic because Ubuntu updates the browsers, and new
versions of browsers sometimes require code changes in BleachBit to
support them.

Sorry if this is a rant. :)

Anyway, the error about moz_favicons was fixed in the new release:
https://www.bleachbit.org/news/bleachbit-20 . This site always has the
latest version of BleachBit, and it has .deb packages for easily
installation on Ubuntu.

[Bug 1741081] Re: zfs-import-cache.service fails on startup

2018-03-02 Thread Richard Laager
zfs-load-module.service seems to have a Requires on itself? That has to
be wrong.

Also, zfs-import-cache.service and zfs-import-scan.service need an After
=zfs-load-module.service. They're not getting one automatically because
of DefaultDependencies=no (which seems appropriate here, so leave that
alone). Scott, can you try this? I think it will fix your issue, since
zfs-mount.service already has After=zfs-load-cache.service and After
=zfs-load-scan.service.

The proposed package, with the changes above should fix the issue I'm
reporting.

However, LP #1672749 says, "Since zfsutils-linux/0.6.5.9-4, zfs module
is not automatically loaded on systems that no zpool exists, this avoids
tainting everyone's kernel who has the package installed but is not
using zfs." Is this still an important goal? If so, wasn't that lost
with ubuntu-load-zfs-unconditionally.patch? Or perhaps something is
keeping zfs-import-scan.service from being enabled by default?

[Bug 1752481] Re: Regressions in 2.39.2 in xenial-updates in classic snaps (relative to 2.35)

2018-03-02 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Nish, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapcraft into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapcraft/2.39.3+really2.35 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-xenial to verification-done-xenial. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-xenial. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1753020] [NEW] High CPU usage in gnome-shell, occurs randomly

2018-03-02 Thread pierre
Public bug reported:

I am running 17.10, and once in a while, for no apparent reason, I am
getting high CPU usage from gnome-shell. So much so that the system
becomes unusable and the only solution is to restart.

I'm using two monitors if that makes a difference, the laptop is on a
dock , one external monitor is in landscape mode, and the other one is
in portrait mode.

Not sure what else to provide, I have run the `ubuntu-bug gnome-shell`
command so hopefully there will be debug info attached.

I'm going to reboot now because the laptop is very noisy and slow.

```
