[Bug 1876415] Re: [nvidia+modeset] Fonts in the GNOME shell not shown.

2020-05-08 Thread Cornelius Huber
I am having this bug again right now. You advised me in my other bug report to
post a file with the contents of journalctl -b0 if this bug reappears, since I
was told both are related, I was wondering if the same applies for this one
here. Link to other bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-440/+bug/1875957

One thing to note: I would prefer to send the file via Mail, if possible.

[Bug 1872527] Re: Clipboard doesn't work 100% of the time in Ubuntu 20.04 (in KVM guests)

2020-05-08 Thread w
I have issues with copy and pasting on KVM too. In fact, it freezes the
IDEs (vs code/intellij) when i tried to copy and paste. Sometimes it
cause vs code to crash too.

After searching around, I found another person who has the exact same issues
albeit on Red Hat:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1600798

I tried disabling copy paste on spice-vdagent via virt as suggested in
the link, and I no longer have any freezing issues.

Seems like there's a bug with spice-vdagent. Do let me know if i should
create a separate issue for this.

[Bug 1877700] Re: Backup crashed during folder selection. Backup was failing to execute because could not get write permission

2020-05-08 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

You have stated the issue relates to a backup, not getting permission
for a drive, but have tagged `ubuntu-release-upgrader` package (which is
the package that will bump your 20.04 release to 22.04 or 20.10). I
don't see any evidence of trying to bump your recent install to either
20.10 so it could just be the wrong package was marked.

If the program crashed, you'll likely find a crash report in /var/crash/ which
will have the date & time stamp of the crash. You can submit that using
`ubuntu-bug /var/crash/[package-name.crash]`
(no back-quotes, and replace [package-name.crash] with the name of the file)

Please clarify what program you were using for backups (

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1844808] Re: Can't delete file from desktop by clicking it and hitting delete key

2020-05-08 Thread Adam Dingle
This bug still exists in Ubuntu 20.04. It's particularly insidious
because it's easy to delete a file by mistake: if a Nautilus window has
focus and you click on a desktop icon and press the Delete key, then
Nautilus will delete the file (which you might or might not notice).

2020-05-08 Thread Serhiy Zahoriya
Ok, copying my workarounds here and closing the other report:

Volume Group metadata had to be upgraded manually with

vgck --updatemetadata yourvgname

The VG name was somehow changed from lvm-name to just name and I had to
edit /etc/crypttab and update-initramfs -u -k all

Also cryptsetup-initramfs package was deleted for some reason, had to
re-install it in chroot. Maybe it happened because I have disabled
installing recommended and suggested packages or maybe because none of
*buntu-desktop packages are installed on my system. Not sure if I have
to report it as a separate problem, please advise.

2020-05-08 Thread Logan Rosen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to help make
Ubuntu better. However, it seems that you are not using a software
package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this
the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please
report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

[Bug 1870189] Re: initramfs does not get loaded

I don't know how to escalate attention to this issue. Is emailing the
author of commit 6a814c759e10feafb40c3669be30aa51eb5ce39b, which seems
to have introduced the issue, acceptable? I'm surprised it's not causing

[Bug 1877704] [NEW] File get-uid-gid.js is missing

2020-05-08 Thread Bold Flair
Public bug reported:

The Git repository [https://github.com/npm/uid-number/tree/v0.0.6] has a
get-uid-gid.js file which isn't included in the 0.0.6 versions of this
package.

This effectively breaks this package as functionality doesn't work
without that file. Placing the git-uid-gid.js into /usr/lib/nodejs/uid-
number/get-uid-gid.js seems to fix the issue.

[Bug 1876334] Re: [Focal] zsys does not clear out old snapshots, potentially filling up bpool

2020-05-08 Thread satmandu
Here's what I did:

sudo zpool set listsnapshots=on bpool
zfs list -o space -r bpool

That gave me a list of snapshots on pool and told me how big they were,
and then I was able to go in and delete the right snapshot to get space
back.

Hopefully garbage collection will realize this happened and fix
everything for me? :)

[Bug 1877696] [NEW] [MIR] openscap

2020-05-08 Thread Seth Arnold
Public bug reported:

Hello, the Ubuntu Security Team would like the libopenscap8 binary
package from openscap promoted to main. libopenscap8 is incorporated
into the CVEscan snap: https://github.com/canonical/sec-
cvescan/blob/master/snapcraft.yaml

One wrinkle is that we'd like libopenscap8 from an existing release
moved into main, so that it can be used by the snapcraft build process.
I don't know the snap ecosystem well enough to know if CVEscan can be
ported to the core20 world or if it must remain in core18 world. So we
may like openscap from 18.04 LTS or openscap from 20.04 LTS
retroactively promoted to main.

[Availability]
openscap is in universe.

[Rationale]
The Ubuntu Security Team would like the libopenscap8 binary package from
openscap promoted to main. libopenscap8 is incorporated into the CVEscan snap:
https://github.com/canonical/sec-cvescan/blob/master/snapcraft.yaml

[Security]
As the intention is to use libopenscap8 in security software, it may make sense
to require a security review. However, the package has no executables, no
setuid or setgid files, does not daemonize or otherwise itself run a persistent
service, and does not open listening ports.

[Quality assurance]
- No configuration is necessary to use the library, though applications that
use this library will need to be configured.
- grep -ri debconf returns no results.
- The Debian package appears to be in an unfortunate state:
  - Still provides a python2 package, no python3 package:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=937211
  - A segfault with upstream fix has been ignored:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=932120
- The upstream fix for the segfault was intermingled with an unrelated new
feature:
- Upstream bug tracker has many open issues, some security relevant issues open
for years.
- The Ubuntu bug tracker has very few open issues; the most important one is
the segfault that has been ignored in Debian. The SRU appears stalled:
- tests are not run (see debian/rules)
- debian/watch exists
- lintian messages:
 E: openscap source: source-is-missing xsl/xccdf-resources/bootstrap.min.js
 E: openscap source: source-is-missing xsl/xccdf-resources/openscap.js line
length is 263 characters (>256)
 W: openscap source: python-foo-but-no-python3-foo python-openscap

[Dependencies]
All dependencies of the libopenscap8 library are in main. The source package is
less happy:
Build-Depends:
- dh-python
- python-defaults
- swig

[Standards compliance]
- I didn't spot FHS problems in the libopenscap8 binary package.
- Unknown Debian policy compliance.
- Quilt package

[Maintenance]
Security team will subscribe to bugs.

[Background information]
SCAP is an assertions language that is popular in the security communities for
standardizing data streams. It can be used both for encoding information about
vulnerable packages (as our OVAL data currently describes) as well as providing
rules to measure compliance with published security standards.

Thanks

Okay the common denominator in this issue is Yahoo mail.

[Bug 1404172] Re: lightdm: PAM unable to dlopen(pam_kwallet.so): /lib/security/pam_kwallet.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

2020-05-08 Thread Daniel Richard G.
This issue persists in lightdm 1.30.0-0ubuntu3.1 in Ubuntu focal.

I see the warnings not only for pam_kwallet.so, but also its successor
pam_kwallet5.so, as well as pam_gnome_keyring.so (which I do not have
installed). All three of these are referenced in /etc/pam.d/lightdm and
/etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter as "optional" modules.

I attempted to eliminate the warnings by replacing the "optional"
keyword with "[success=ok module_unknown=ignore default=ignore]", but
that had no visible effect.

The entries referring to these modules need to be removed from LightDM's
PAM config files. If libpam-gnome-keyring is installed, it will already
make itself known to PAM via a pam-auth-update profile, which is the
correct approach. The libpam-kwallet5 package has no pam-auth-update
profile, but that is an issue for that package, not this one.

[Bug 1860986] Re: openvswitch: same tcp session encapsulated with different udp src port for ovs vxlan tunnel

2020-05-08 Thread Kelsey Margarete Skunberg
Before back porting commit bd1903b7c4596 ("net: openvswitch: add hash info to
upcall"), a couple points should be addressed:
- xenial backport is skipping one netlink attribute, which will
introduce an ABI incompatibility
- Needs a test case

[Bug 1877695] [NEW] Hangs system: System Program Problem Detected

2020-05-08 Thread whitis
Public bug reported:

The System Program Problem Detected popup apparently causes system to hang.
You can't switch to a terminal.
You can't move a window.
You can't interact within windows.
Ctrl-alt-del took more than a minute to respond and then you have 30 seconds to
answer cancel during which the system is also non-responsive.

This is not the only popup that causes this. The Program Not
Responding Wait or Force Quit dialog has the same effect. It was
disabled entirely. Ctrl-alt-del cancel method sometimes worked for
that one.

Appears to be related to grabbing mouse pointer.
xwininfo said it could not grab mouse pointer (probably because apport already
grabbed it).

Actual dialog box was burried.
Window had no title bar, it was hidden under top bar (top bar set to autohide).
Showed "update-notifier" as program name. Was able to quit from the pulldown
menu on top bar. After which, system became usable again.

Data was almost lost in seamonkey composer because of the difficulty
saving. I was using firefox at the time of the problem. Although
firefox's memory utilization had been quite high, I had killed tabs and
its memory usage was under 2GB.

[Bug 1867705] Re: [SRU] ubuntustudio-controls crashed with TypeError in __init__(): Argument 1 does not allow None as a value

2020-05-08 Thread Erich Eickmeyer
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Users of the default Ubuntu GNOME desktop are experiencing an
+ immediate crash upon launch unless first run from terminal
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * With a clean Ubuntu 20.04 LTS installation, install ubuntustudio-
+ controls and attempt to run it from activities launcher. It will crash,
+ crash is reproducible.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * In order to fix this, some elements of a future UI for wacom tablet
+ config had to be removed. Those plans may have been dropped, but this
+ has yet to be completely evaluated. As such, since UI elements were
+ removed, the probability of other UI elements to be missing exists, but
+ that probability is slim to none.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * This should be the final bugfix prior to migration to distro-agnostic
Studio Controls, which is developed by the Ubuntu Studio team in cooperation
with other distributions, namely Fedora.
+
+
+ Original bug report follows:
+
+
Ubuntu Studio Controls will not launch within regular Ubuntu desktop.

[Bug 1877686] [NEW] Mouse lags since 20.04 update

2020-05-08 Thread jantje dropveter
Public bug reported:

After installing ubuntu 20.04, I have an issue with my mouse pointer
lagging a lot.

It happens on my trackpad, physical mouse, wacom tablet, and trackpoint.

It's only a graphical issue (ie: The underlying whatever is actually
moving. The visible pointer just isn't).

Other mouse moving related actions do not exhibit the same behaviour.
Window dragging is smooth. Applications that use custom mouse pointers,
such as krita, work smoothly.

The issue persists both on nVidia graphics and intel integrated
graphics.

I am using a lenovo thinkpad p50.

The issue persists constantly when I am using the in built laptop
screen. However, when I connect a second monitor, it only happens
occasionally.

I installed ubuntu 20.04 from a usb drive, keeping my home partition
from 18.04.

[Bug 1874075] Re: rabbitmq-server startup timeouts differ between SysV and systemd

2020-05-08 Thread Dan Streetman
@james-page, it looks like elixir-lang in groovy has exceeded the limit
that rabbitmq-server wants to build with; since our rabbitmq-server is
newer than Debian, I'm not sure what your merge process from upstream
is. Can you do another upstream merge please so rabbitmq-server is
buildable in groovy? That should also pick up the fix for this bug, as
well.

Thanks!

Re: [Bug 1877504] Re: new version of libmysqlclient21 8.0.20-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 causes mythtv-set, mythbackend and mythfrontend to segfault on exit.

2020-05-08 Thread Kim Tyler
After the release of Focal, I did a fresh install with mariadb server.
I did a mysqldump backup of the existing mythtv (bionic) mariadb
database and installed mythtv (mythbackend + mythfrontend + plugins) and
configured it to work with the current setup.

This all worked almost perfectly, just needing minor tweaks.

I have been installing updates to the system mostly when they are
available.

I noticed that after an update to the system just recently, the
mythfrontend was giving a segfault when exiting, causing the crash to be
detected and mythfrontend to restart.  Further investigation showed
indications that libmysqlclient was involved.

I downgraded to the previous version of libmysqlclient, and the problem
ceased. All was working as previously.

Upgrading to the latest (security fix) caused the problem to start
again.  I downgraded again and locked the version, and the problem went
away again.  I don't have any external facing mysql connections, so
security is not an imperative at the moment, but it does make me nervous
not to have security updates.

To cause the problem :- install the latest mysqlclient

To workaround the problem : downgrade the mysqlclient

If you need me to test anything, please let me know.

Good luck, and thanks,

Kim

[Bug 1874275] Re: focal package doesn't contain executables, only manpages

2020-05-08 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Jacob, or anyone else affected,

Accepted mailnag into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mailnag/1.2.1-1.1ubuntu2.1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 1877676] Re: update crashes on password protected server

2020-05-08 Thread Pedro de Oliveira
** Description changed:

  Hello,

The current version of Subversion on Ubuntu Bionic has a bug related
  with gpg-agent.

The problem is when you run "svn up" with multiple directories and/or
files as arguments on a already checked out repository. This only
happens on a UN/PW protected Subversion repository via https.

  Steps to reproduce:

rm -rf ~/.subversion [if you don't do this its harder to reproduce]
  cd private_repo
  svn up dir1 dir2/foo dir3/bar myfile.txt

  Output:

The version on bionic is 1.9.7. So went digging in the Subversion source
code and tried to see if it was fixed in newer releases of this same
  branch.

I built every version from the 1.9 branch until I found it was fixed in
version 1.9.10, so I used git bisect to figure out which commit fixed
  it.

  Its this one:

https://github.com/apache/subversion/commit/aa731718d6ff24dfcf5a3260d8988cee34ce2be1

In that commit it mentions r1691952 of the Subversion repository:

- And that one mentions a bug in the subversion bug tracker:

To submit this bug I tried to follow this:
  https://packaging.ubuntu.com/html/fixing-a-bug.html

But in the process of running: pbuilder-dist bionic
  ../subversion_1.9.7-4ubuntu2.dsc

The compilation fails with some other unrelated problem:

/bin/bash: /usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin/javah: No such file or
  directory

From what I've found javah has been deprecated -

[Bug 1877677] [NEW] Disco update: upstream stable patchset 2020-05-08

2020-05-08 Thread Kamal Mostafa
Public bug reported:

SRU Justification

Impact:
The upstream process for stable tree updates is quite similar
in scope to the Ubuntu SRU process, e.g., each patch has to
demonstrably fix a bug, and each patch is vetted by upstream
by originating either directly from a mainline/stable Linux tree or
a minimally backported form of that patch. The following upstream
stable patches should be included in the Ubuntu kernel:

[Bug 1877676] [NEW] update crashes on password protected server

2020-05-08 Thread Pedro de Oliveira
Public bug reported:

Output:

Updating 'dir1':

The version on bionic is 1.9.7. So went digging in the Subversion source
code and tried to see if it was fixed in newer releases of this same
branch.

I built every version from the 1.9 branch until I found it was fixed in
version 1.9.10, so I used git bisect to figure out which commit fixed
it.

Its this one:
https://github.com/apache/subversion/commit/aa731718d6ff24dfcf5a3260d8988cee34ce2be1

In that commit it mentions r1691952 of the Subversion repository:
https://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision=1691952

And that one mentions a bug in the Subversion bug tracker:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SVN-4584?issueNumber=4584

I tried that patch (the github one) on 1.9.7 and it fixes the crash.

--

To submit this bug I tried to follow this:
https://packaging.ubuntu.com/html/fixing-a-bug.html

But in the process of running: pbuilder-dist bionic
../subversion_1.9.7-4ubuntu2.dsc

The compilation fails with some other unrelated problem:

/bin/bash: /usr/lib/jvm/default-java/bin/javah: No such file or
directory

>From what I've found javah has been deprecated -

[Bug 1877678] [NEW] add sdmp plugin as a separate package

2020-05-08 Thread Oliver Kurth
Public bug reported:

Version 11.1.0 adds the sdmp plugin, see
https://marketplace.vmware.com/vsx/solutions/vrealize-operations-
service-discovery-management-pack?ref=search

This should be in an optional separate package. Attached is a patch for
the Debian scripts that would create this package. This has been used in
our internal testing. Note that there is an additional runtime
dependency on net-tools for netstat.

Also at Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=960065

Thanks,
Oliver

[Bug 1877504] [NEW] new version of libmysqlclient21 8.0.20-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 causes mythtv-set, mythbackend and mythfrontend to segfault on exit.

2020-05-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

You have been subscribed to a public security bug by Seth Arnold (seth-arnold):

after upgrade libmysqlclient21 from 8.0.19-0ubuntu5 to
8.0.20-0ubuntu0.20.04.1, mythtv-setup, mythfrontend, mythbackend and
mythpreviewgen all segfault when exiting.(and probably others) In
particular, mythfrontend will restart after "crash" (segfault).
Reverting libmysqlclient21 back to version 8.0.19-0ubuntu5 fixes the
problem.

The latest version is a security fix, so presumably this is a security
issue as we can't install it without myth segfaulting.

[Bug 1596381] Re: [X555UA, Realtek ALC256, Mic, Internal] No sound at all

2020-05-08 Thread Gaetano Canepa
On my ASUS Rog GL703VD-GC028T Notebook, I was able to use both microphone and
sound adding the line
options snd-hda-intel model=laptop-dmic,headset-mic,auto
to /etc/modprobe.d

and modifing the line
#load-module module-alsa-sink control=xxx
with
load-module module-alsa-sink control=PCM
and modifying the line
load-module module-udev-detect
with
load-module module-udev-detect ignore_dB=1
to /etc/pulse/default.pa file

I'm not sure all the modifications are essential. Check the ubuntu sound
setting for output
