[Bug 1883175] Re: missing support for python3.8 language features

2020-06-30 Thread Ted Kern
** Description changed:

Python 3.8 language features include some syntax that python3-flake8
  3.7.9-2 registers as an error.

flake8 3.8.x is now available, released after Focal. The minor version
matches the supported python version, so a release from the 3.8.x series
should be ported to Focal. This version bump requires dependency
pycodestyle >= 2.6.0, which is where the bugfix occurs.

  [Test Case]
  Create a file test.py
  Use python3 language features, e.g.
  ```
  while (a := float(input())) < 10 :
  print(f'{a=} is too much!')
  print(f'{a=} works fine')
  ```
  Run `python3 -m flake8 test.py`

  Result:
"pyflakes" failed during execution due to "'FlakesChecker' object has no
attribute 'NAMEDEXPR'"
Run flake8 with greater verbosity to see more details
  test.py:1:9: E203 whitespace before ':'
  test.py:1:10: E231 missing whitespace after ':'

  `echo $?` shows a return value of 1

With the 3.8.3-1 version of the package proposed for Groovy
  (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-flake8/3.8.3-1) `test.py`
produces no output and returns 0

  [Regression Potential]
Potential is minimal as this is a minor version bump, which upstream defines
as only offering additional, optional checks and not breaking backward
compatibility. No reported breakages between 3.7.9 and 3.8.3 are shown in
upstream issue tracker.

+ Any regressions would appear as unexpected errors emitted when running
+ the linter on previously error-less, valid python code.
+
  Upstream QA:
  https://flake8.pycqa.org/en/latest/internal/releases.html#process
outlines the required tests a release must pass, all of which completed
  in https://gitlab.com/pycqa/flake8/-/pipelines/154124695

[Bug 1881588] Re: pre-seeding lxd on Core appliances breaks console-conf user creation

2020-06-30 Thread Michael Hudson-Doyle
IIRC one of the reasons console-conf-wrapper is implemented in shell is
because some of our target platforms were too slow / memory constrained
to run python as part of the boot process? Is that still true? Because
this is starting to get a little complicated for shell now...

might be asked by kernel engineers to test various things. If you're no
longer using the offending driver then that could be annoying. It's up

My only concern is whether there will be issues with updates and upgrades
to my box in the future.
Other than that, I am fine with "won't fix".

[Bug 1885529] Re: Gnome "Activities" button in inconsistent location when the Places menu is enabled

2020-06-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
That's a tricky situation. If there's a bug in any command or app in
19.10 to do upgrades then that command or app also reaches end of life
this month. Meaning we can't fix upgrades for you either. :(

If you want something that works long term with upgrades then I suggest
staying to LTS releases only. And if you want to use intermediate Ubuntu
releases then you will need to either upgrade away from them before they
reach end of life [1], or just reinstall anew [2].

[Bug 1885824] [NEW] haskell-incremental-parser cannot migrate

2020-06-30 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
Public bug reported:

In 0.4.0.2-1build1 haskell-incremental-parser introduces dependency on
haskell-rank2classes

However haskell-rank2classes is not available on as many architectures
as haskell-incremental-parser is.

Leading to uninstalability.

Either haskell-incremental-parser should drop the dependency, or
haskell-rank2classes get fixed to build everywhere.

[Bug 1885610] Re: enlarged components on lock/login screen

2020-06-30 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Oops. Come to think of it the login screen runs as a different user and
that's a system extension. So disabling anything in the GUI won't
work... Please try:

1. Uninstall the user-theme extension and any other non-Ubuntu
extensions.

2. Reboot.

[Bug 1876286] Re: Evolution reports "Error performing TLS handshake: Internal error in memory allocation."

2020-06-30 Thread James
Thankyou tamille1

I followed you instructions and added the repository to 16.04lts.

Evolution now downloads email from yahoo:993.

I had to deselect 'Pre-released updates' from the developer options in
update manager to get rid of the extra updates, but it worked. I
couldn't find the repository in my list to remove it. I know that I
added it, but it just wasn't showing.

I am still having trouble downloading email from one of my ISP's:
Bestweb.net. It might be a transient issue on their end. I'll give it a
few days.

[Bug 1877108] Re: Ubuntu Dock appears on the display opposite to that indicated on Appearance tab

2020-06-30 Thread Paul White
I started gnome-control-center to verify I was still seeing the bug and
then enabled -proposed and updated to version 1:3.36.3-0ubuntu1.

I restarted gnome-control-center and saw the drop-down now correctly
shows on which display the dock is being shown. All three settings work
as they should as the dock can be moved between displays, or shown on
both displays and the drop-down always shows the correct text unlike
previously.

Marking as verified.

[Bug 1885819] Re: Can't upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04

2020-06-30 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

Upgrades from the prior LTS release (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) won't be offered
until after the release of Ubuntu 20.04.1. To force it before then, you
need to use the development release option. This helps ensure LTS or
long-term-support users keep maximum stability.

(this comment is made because of your 'prerelease version' description)

[Bug 1877633] Re: libseccomp 2.4.3 (and 2.4.2) is not correctly resolving (at least) the getrlimit syscall on arm64

2020-06-30 Thread Alex Murray
I am not sure how packages.ubuntu.com generates its list but they were
published for all architectures on launchpad:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libseccomp/2.4.3-1ubuntu3.20.04.2

Also the debs are present on ports.ubuntu.com: http://ports.ubuntu.com
/ubuntu-ports/pool/main/libs/libseccomp/libseccomp-
dev_2.4.3-1ubuntu3.20.04.2_armhf.deb and listed in the focal-security
Packages.gz as expected.

So I suspect this is some artefact of packages.ubuntu.com perhaps only
taking into account the contents of the security / updates pocket on
amd64/i386 - but again I am not certain. However as far as apt is
concerned, these packages exist and should be installed automatically by
unattended-upgrades etc.

[Bug 1817721] Re: autopkgtest success rate in Bionic reached an unusable amount

2020-06-30 Thread Thadeu Lima de Souza Cascardo
So after some investigation on systemd failures on ppc64el triggered by
the kernel on eoan, I noticed some coredumps on processes when running
under qemu inside the ADT environment.

As one of these processes is sleep, I am pretty confident this is caused
by the lack of emulation or rather the failure to ignore mffsl extra
bits, aka LP: #1847806.

I am not sure this is the right bug as it mentions lots of other
upstream failures across all arches. But it looks like the ones we are
seeing, and as we are referring this bug in our results, I thought it
was worht mentioning.

Cascardo.
