[Bug 1955321] Re: Lock screen bypassed on wake from sleep
apport information ** Description changed: This could be similar to Bug #1768352, but I noticed that with Mate 21.10 (upgraded from 20.04) the lock screen gets bypassed on wake. I suspend the laptop while connected to an external display, on wake from the laptop panel (disconnect the external monitor) the lock screen is bypassed. It takes a minute and boots right into the desktop. If it helps the external monitor is a full HD panel while the laptop has a strange resolution of 3x2. I think while the xserver tries to draw everything in the different resolution it skips the lock screen. Normal just lock or power throttle all work fine. [Bug 1780296] Re: [SRU] Update to bugfix 2.0.5 in Bionic
Thank you for taking the time to file this bug report and make Ubuntu better. We apologize that we're not always able to get to bug reports in a timely manner as most bug triage is done by volunteers. This appears to be an attempt at an SRU, however, it does not follow the prescribed SRU procedure. If the reporter does not have upload rights, a fix will need to be sponsored by a member of the Ubuntu Core Development team. Proper SRU procedure is outlined here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Procedure As of this comment, this bug has yet to be fixed. Realistically, the likelihood of this fix happening is lessening as 18.04 (Bionic) reaches End of Regular Support in April 2023, meaning that nearly four of the five-year regular support span has already lapsed. The best method of resolving this is to upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or, when it releases April 2022, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Additionally, the likelihood of an SRU happening is slim due to this: > * libtracker-direct: Majorly rewritten Any major rewrites usually constitute a rejection of an SRU. However, I am not on the SRU team, so YMMV. ** Changed in: tracker-miners (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: tracker (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: tracker (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: tracker-miners (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1780296 Title: [SRU] Update to bugfix 2.0.5 in Bionic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tracker/+bug/1780296/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1959465] [NEW] Mudlet not respecting user-selected server data encoding setting
Public bug reported: When connecting to MUME with Force CHARSET negotiation enabled (box NOT checked under Special settings), and UTF-8 selected for Server data encoding in general settings, encoding is changed to ISO 8859-1 during negotiation with the server. It appears that, during this negotiation, the server offers several options, and Mudlet is choosing the first compatible option in the list (ISO 8859-1) rather than the user selected preference (UTF-8), which is also available. I was able to use UTF-8 by turning Force CHARSET negotiation off and manually setting UTF-8 in the MUD using the command line. I think the expected behavior (at least the behavior I expected) is that, if I have Force CHARSET negotiation on, and have chosen a particular encoding, Mudlet would enforce that encoding with the server, if it is available. Here are the packets that are exchanged during the negotiation: From Mud to MudletP: a8 a1 59 24 c5 05 60 5f 8d 05 ba f2 08 00 45 00 ..Y$..`_..E. 0010 00 6f d3 f7 40 00 2f 06 13 5e c1 86 da 62 c0 a8 .o..@./..^...b.. 0020 07 a2 10 92 94 32 78 00 8c b4 7c ca 98 fc 80 18 .2x...|. 0030 01 fc a2 12 00 00 01 01 08 0a d7 7b b5 a4 f1 35 ...{...5 0040 5c a1 ff fa 18 01 ff f0 ff fa 2a 01 3b 49 53 4f \.*.;ISO 0050 5f 38 38 35 39 2d 31 3a 31 39 38 37 3b 49 53 4f _8859-1:1987;ISO 0060 2d 38 38 35 39 2d 31 3b 55 54 46 2d 38 3b 55 53 -8859-1;UTF-8;US 0070 2d 41 53 43 49 49 ff f0 ff fa 56 ff f0-ASCIIV.. [Bug 1870597] Re: libinput says "your system is too slow"
I'm getting spammed by libinput messages about the system being slow. [Bug 1959348] Re: Linux Mint kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, & -27 Induce Laptop Screen Crash
apport information ** Description changed: + **UPDATE 1,28/2022, 1500 PST** + + I have edited the original posting to keep the description of the + problem only in the body of the report. I have moved all the System Info + outputs to attached comments below, as well as all the other output + reports for the terminal commands I was recommended to execute. + + The reports and info are from terminal command outputs while running + Linux Mint 20.3 with Cinnamon DE on kernel 5.13.0-27. + Please accept my apologies up front for any inefficiencies this format may induce, as I'm a very casual user who has just started to scratch the surface of Linux distro usage. I have read the instructions on the report submission page and I believe I am following the guidance, but if I'm not it's because of unfamiliarity and general ignorance. I beg for your patience and understanding. For the listed kernels in the summary line (kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, and -27), my Acer Swift 3 laptop's screen crashes/reverts to snow/white noise immediately whenever the following conditions are met: 1) Any video peripheral is connected to the laptop via the HDMI port directly or through a USB-C hub with HDMI input AND 2) The "Mirror" selection is toggled in the Display Manager GUI OR 3) The HDMI cable is removed from the HDMI port/USB-C hub I can confirm that: 1) The HDMI cable is not the culprit because this issue doesn't manifest itself with Win10 or with Manjaro Linux, and 2) running Linux Mint 20.3 with the 5.11.0-46 kernel does not manifest any of the described screen crash issues listed above. That is to say, the laptop and peripheral HDMI display run stably/without issue while - running Linux Mint 20.3 kernel 5.11.0-46 - - For your diagnostic consideration: - - System Info: - [code] - System:Kernel: 5.11.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 - wm: muffin dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal - Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: Swift SF314-42 v: V1.10 serial: - Mobo: RO model: Kona_RN v: V1.10 serial: UEFI: Insyde v: 1.10 date: 05/13/2021 - Battery: ID-1: BAT1 charge: 15.4 Wh condition: 49.2/47.8 Wh (103%) volts: 10.9/11.2 - model: LGC AP18C8K serial: status: Discharging - CPU: Topology: 8-Core model: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics bits: 64 type: MCP - arch: Zen rev: 1 L2 cache: 4096 KiB - flags: avx avx2 lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm bogomips: 31938 - Speed: 1397 MHz min/max: 1400/2000 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 1397 2: 1397 3: 1396 - 4: 1397 5: 1908 6: 1761 7: 1736 8: 2286 - Graphics: Device-1: AMD Renoir vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: amdgpu v: kernel - bus ID: 03:00.0 chip ID: 1002:1636 - Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: amdgpu, ati unloaded: fbdev, modesetting, vesa - resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz, 1920x1080~60Hz - OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.0.3 compat-v: 3.1 - direct render: Yes - Audio: Device-1: AMD vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel - bus ID: 03:00.1 chip ID: 1002:1637 - Device-2: AMD Raven/Raven2/FireFlight/Renoir Audio Processor - vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_rn_pci_acp3x v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.5 - chip ID: 1022:15e2 - Device-3: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel - v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.6 chip ID: 1022:15e3 - Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-46-generic - Network: Device-1: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 driver: iwlwifi v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0 - chip ID: 8086:2723 - IF: wlp1s0 state: up mac: - Drives:Local Storage: total: 931.51 GiB used: 28.05 GiB (3.0%) - ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Western Digital model: WDBRPG0010BNC-WRSN size: 931.51 GiB - speed: 31.6 Gb/s lanes: 4 serial: - Partition: ID-1: / size: 183.37 GiB used: 28.03 GiB (15.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/nvme0n1p5 - USB: Hub: 1-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 - Device-1: 1-4:6 info: Intel type: Bluetooth driver: btusb rev: 2.0 chip ID: 8087:0029 - Hub: 2-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 - Hub: 3-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 - Device-2: 3-1:2 info: LighTuning EgisTec EH575 type: driver: N/A - rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1c7a:0575 - Device-3: 3-4:3 info: Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse with Tilt Wheel type: Mouse - driver: hid-generic,usbhid rev: 2.0 chip ID: 045e:00d2 - Hub: 4-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 - Sensors: System

[Bug 1959348] Re: Linux Mint kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, & -27 Induce Laptop Screen Crash
** Description changed: Please accept my apologies up front for any inefficiencies this format may induce, as I'm a very casual user who has just started to scratch the surface of Linux distro usage. That is to say, the laptop and peripheral HDMI display run stably/without issue while running Linux Mint 20.3 kernel 5.11.0-46 For your diagnostic consideration: System Info: [code] - System:Kernel: 5.11.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 -wm: muffin dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal - Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: Swift SF314-42 v: V1.10 serial: -Mobo: RO model: Kona_RN v: V1.10 serial: UEFI: Insyde v: 1.10 date: 05/13/2021 - Battery: ID-1: BAT1 charge: 15.4 Wh condition: 49.2/47.8 Wh (103%) volts: 10.9/11.2 -model: LGC AP18C8K serial: status: Discharging - CPU: Topology: 8-Core model: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics bits: 64 type: MCP -arch: Zen rev: 1 L2 cache: 4096 KiB -flags: avx avx2 lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm bogomips: 31938 -Speed: 1397 MHz min/max: 1400/2000 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 1397 2: 1397 3: 1396 -4: 1397 5: 1908 6: 1761 7: 1736 8: 2286 - Graphics: Device-1: AMD Renoir vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: amdgpu v: kernel -bus ID: 03:00.0 chip ID: 1002:1636 -Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: amdgpu, ati unloaded: fbdev, modesetting, vesa -resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz, 1920x1080~60Hz -OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.0.3 compat-v: 3.1 -direct render: Yes - Audio: Device-1: AMD vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel -bus ID: 03:00.1 chip ID: 1002:1637 -Device-2: AMD Raven/Raven2/FireFlight/Renoir Audio Processor -vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_rn_pci_acp3x v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.5 -chip ID: 1022:15e2 -Device-3: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel -v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.6 chip ID: 1022:15e3 -Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-46-generic - Network: Device-1: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 driver: iwlwifi v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0 -chip ID: 8086:2723 -IF: wlp1s0 state: up mac: - Drives:Local Storage: total: 931.51 GiB used: 28.05 GiB (3.0%) -ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Western Digital model: WDBRPG0010BNC-WRSN size: 931.51 GiB -speed: 31.6 Gb/s lanes: 4 serial: - Partition: ID-1: / size: 183.37 GiB used: 28.03 GiB (15.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/nvme0n1p5 - USB: Hub: 1-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 -Device-1: 1-4:6 info: Intel type: Bluetooth driver: btusb rev: 2.0 chip ID: 8087:0029 -Hub: 2-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 -Hub: 3-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 -Device-2: 3-1:2 info: LighTuning EgisTec EH575 type: driver: N/A -rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1c7a:0575 -Device-3: 3-4:3 info: Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse with Tilt Wheel type: Mouse -driver: hid-generic,usbhid rev: 2.0 chip ID: 045e:00d2 -Hub: 4-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 - Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 41.8 C mobo: N/A gpu: amdgpu temp: 40 C -Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A - Repos: No active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list -Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list -1: deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg arch=amd64] https: //brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main -Active apt repos in:
[Bug 1959458] [NEW] Lock screen disabling needs updating
Public bug reported: The release upgrade process is supposed to disable your lock screen so that if something goes wrong you still have access to the system. However, this seems to be broken for upgrades to at least Jammy. DistUpgradeQuirks.py has code to kill gnome-screensaver and poke xdg- screensaver, however neither of those processes are running on my Impish system. There is a /usr/libexec/gsd-screensaver-proxy process but killing that didn't stop the screen from locking. ** Affects: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: Confirmed ** Tags: rls-jj-incoming ** Tags added: rls-jj-incoming ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New => Confirmed ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1959458 Title: Lock screen disabling needs updating To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1959458/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1958592] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in mieqEnqueue() from queueEventList() from QueueKeyboardEvents() from xf86PostKeyEventM() from xf86PostKeyboardEvent()
Today I got sent back to the login screen in the same way, same symptoms, same circumstances as last time (writing text into Firefox using Plover), and this is after upgrading to 21.10. However, I can't see a crash file from Xorg, only a _usr_bin_lxqt-panel.1000.crash. [Bug 1959348] Re: Linux Mint kernels 5.13.0-21, -22, -23, -25, & -27 Induce Laptop Screen Crash
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected una ** Description changed: Please accept my apologies up front for any inefficiencies this format may induce, as I'm a very casual user who has just started to scratch the surface of Linux distro usage. That is to say, the laptop and peripheral HDMI display run stably/without issue while running Linux Mint 20.3 kernel 5.11.0-46 For your diagnostic consideration: System Info: [code] System:Kernel: 5.11.0-46-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: N/A Desktop: Cinnamon 5.2.7 wm: muffin dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal Machine: Type: Laptop System: Acer product: Swift SF314-42 v: V1.10 serial: Mobo: RO model: Kona_RN v: V1.10 serial: UEFI: Insyde v: 1.10 date: 05/13/2021 Battery: ID-1: BAT1 charge: 15.4 Wh condition: 49.2/47.8 Wh (103%) volts: 10.9/11.2 model: LGC AP18C8K serial: status: Discharging CPU: Topology: 8-Core model: AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics bits: 64 type: MCP arch: Zen rev: 1 L2 cache: 4096 KiB flags: avx avx2 lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm bogomips: 31938 Speed: 1397 MHz min/max: 1400/2000 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1: 1397 2: 1397 3: 1396 4: 1397 5: 1908 6: 1761 7: 1736 8: 2286 Graphics: Device-1: AMD Renoir vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: amdgpu v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.0 chip ID: 1002:1636 Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.13 driver: amdgpu, ati unloaded: fbdev, modesetting, vesa resolution: 1920x1080~60Hz, 1920x1080~60Hz OpenGL: renderer: llvmpipe (LLVM 12.0.0 256 bits) v: 4.5 Mesa 21.0.3 compat-v: 3.1 direct render: Yes Audio: Device-1: AMD vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.1 chip ID: 1002:1637 Device-2: AMD Raven/Raven2/FireFlight/Renoir Audio Processor vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_rn_pci_acp3x v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.5 chip ID: 1022:15e2 Device-3: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: Acer Incorporated ALI driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus ID: 03:00.6 chip ID: 1022:15e3 Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.11.0-46-generic Network: Device-1: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 driver: iwlwifi v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0 chip ID: 8086:2723 IF: wlp1s0 state: up mac: Drives:Local Storage: total: 931.51 GiB used: 28.05 GiB (3.0%) ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Western Digital model: WDBRPG0010BNC-WRSN size: 931.51 GiB speed: 31.6 Gb/s lanes: 4 serial: Partition: ID-1: / size: 183.37 GiB used: 28.03 GiB (15.3%) fs: ext4 dev: /dev/nvme0n1p5 USB: Hub: 1-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 Device-1: 1-4:6 info: Intel type: Bluetooth driver: btusb rev: 2.0 chip ID: 8087:0029 Hub: 2-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 Hub: 3-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 4 rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1d6b:0002 Device-2: 3-1:2 info: LighTuning EgisTec EH575 type: driver: N/A rev: 2.0 chip ID: 1c7a:0575 Device-3: 3-4:3 info: Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse with Tilt Wheel type: Mouse driver: hid-generic,usbhid rev: 2.0 chip ID: 045e:00d2 Hub: 4-0:1 info: Full speed (or root) Hub ports: 2 rev: 3.1 chip ID: 1d6b:0003 Sensors: System Temperatures: cpu: 41.8 C mobo: N/A gpu: amdgpu temp: 40 C Fan Speeds (RPM): N/A Repos: No active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list 1: deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg arch=amd64] https:
