[Bug 853373] Re: does not import RW2 raw-images
Romano, the gphoto bug has been fixed in the latest libgphoto, version 2.4.12. That version is not yet available in Ubuntu Precise, but should appear there soon. We're still not completely sure whether that will solve the RW2 problem in Shotwell, however; see http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/3428 for details. What, specifically, do you feel is dangerous? It looks like you imported photos from a folder and expected Shotwell to copy them, but they stayed in place. That has nothing to do with RW2, so if you're concerned about that behavior in Shotwell you should open a separate bug to discuss it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/853373 Title: does not import RW2 raw-images To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libgphoto/+bug/853373/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 915087] [NEW] critical assertion: GDK_IS_WINDOW(window) failed
Public bug reported: I'm running Nemiver 0.9.1 on Ubuntu Precise (12.04) alpha. Every time I launch an application for debugging from within Nemiver, I get this critical assertion: Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_pointer: assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed This behavior is specific to Ubuntu; I don't see the assertion when I run the same version of Nemiver on Fedora, for instance. I've seen similar assertions when running various GNOME programs under Unity. In this case, though, the assertion is harmful - here's why. I sometimes want to run a debugged program with G_DEBUG=fatal-criticals so that it will break into the debugger when it hits a critical assertion of its own. [Bug 797117] Re: Import of photos to be COPIED does not work correctly
The bugs are not the same. This bug (797117) does not involve missing photos, and as I explained in comment #6 it's not actually a bug according to the Shotwell designers. It's simply how Shotwell works, though we could possibly display more helpful messages to explain what's going on (as proposed in http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4502). [Bug 797117] Re: Import of photos to be COPIED does not work correctly
Daisy, first, to be clear, there are no symbolic links involved in this situation. Shotwell simply imports the photos in question into its database in their current filesystem locations. (Shotwell will never, in fact, create a symbolic link). In earlier versions of Shotwell we referred to this behavior as linking, but people found that confusing so we now call it importing in place. I can understand that it may not have been obvious why the copy/no copy dialog didn't appear for you. I've created a ticket upstream (http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4502) for possibly displaying a dialog as you suggest. Also, I think that before long we may display a set of options on every import, and once we're doing that we could simply disable the copy option in this situation; that might make things a little clearer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/797117 Title: Import of photos to be COPIED does not work correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/shotwell/+bug/797117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 797117] Re: Import of photos to be COPIED does not work correctly
This behavior is expected if the photos you're importing are already in the library directory: in that case Shotwell won't copy them (and, in recent versions of Shotwell, won't ask you whether you want the photos copied). So if Shotwell doesn't seem to be copying your photos, you should check your library directory setting in Shotwell's Preferences dialog. [Bug 845174] Re: Second monitor doesn't work on MacBookAir3, 1 with nvidia-current driver
To chime in here, as I mentioned above I have a newer Macbook (a MacBook7,1) and am still seeing this behavior running Oneiric with all the latest updates. More specifically: 1. I start my laptop with an external monitor connected. After I log in, the external monitor is still blank. 2. I run nvidia-settings and select X Server Display Configuration on the left. nvidia-settings shows both the laptop display and the external monitor. I select the external monitor and choose Configuration: TwinView. 3. I press Apply. The laptop display flashes briefly, but nothing else changes. The external monitor is still blank. 4. I press Apply a second time. Now I briefly see garbage on both displays. After a few seconds it goes away, and I see a dialog box on the external monitor asking me whether I want to accept the display change. I click OK. 5. Unfortunately, at this point Unity is no longer running (the sidebar and panel have vanished) and so I can't run any programs. I have to switch to a different terminal console and reboot. [Bug 885324] Re: Completely replace lcms1 by lcms2 in Ubuntu
Till: Yes, there really is a libraw. :) You're not seeing it because on Ubuntu Shotwell is built using libraw as a static library, so libraw is compiled into the Shotwell executable. It would be nice to use a shared library instead, but we can't do that at the moment because libraw.so currently lives inside libraw-dev, which we can't expect end users to install. Shotwell itself does not use lcms; it uses libraw, which depends on lcms1 in Ubuntu. Note that libraw 0.13.8 (present in Oneiric) can build using either lcms1 or lcms2. [Bug 822924] Re: Changing directory structure does not do anything
John, the tree view in the side panel does not correspond to the directory hierarchy on disk. Instead, the side panel displays your events arranged by year and month. This is completely independent of the on- disk hierarchy: even if all your photos are all in the same directory, for example, the side panel will display events by year and month. The option you mentioned affects only the on-disk structure. This is all by design. We are, however, considering adding a folder tree to the sidebar in the future (see http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/1594). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822924 Title: Changing directory structure does not do anything To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/822924/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 822924] Re: Changing directory structure does not do anything
Well, your original post said directory structure. A directory is an on-disk entity, and so the sidebar tree has nothing to do with the directory structure. [Bug 822924] Re: Changing preferences for side panel structure does not do anything
To make things even more clear, here are answers to each of your questions in #11: - if there are no preferences for the events, then how come the events tree represents exactly the Year/Month/Day structure? It's purely a coincidence that the event tree hierarchy happens to be similar to the directory hierarchy which Shotwell uses by default. They are not tied together in any way. - if the dropdown menu in the prefs IS supposed to change the events tree (which I suspect it is supposed to do), then how is calling it directory structure correct? The dropdown menu in the prefs is *not* supposed to change the event tree in any way. Its name is correct since it affects only the on-disk directory structure. - if whats in the prefs is correct, changing Directory structure should change the directory structure on the disk, which is does not and is certainly neither what it is supposed to do nor what I want it to do Changing the directory structure preference affects only the locations of photos which you import *after* you change this preference. It has no effect on the locations of photos which you have already imported. As Jim mentioned back in comment #3, we'd like to enhance Shotwell to be able to rearrange your existing photo files into a new directory structure, but it can't do that yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822924 Title: Changing preferences for side panel structure does not do anything To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shotwell/+bug/822924/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 821915] Re: shotwell drag photo or video to pitivi does not work
Vincent, If we want this sort of drag and drop to work, Shotwell will need to keep an on-disk copy of each photo including all edits the user has made. Today, Shotwell only keeps the originals on disk, and applies the user's edits on the fly each time the user opens a photo. As a result, fixing this will be a large change to Shotwell. I was just burned by this too. In Thunderbird, I installed an add-on called Zindus. I opened the Zindus Configuration Settings dialog, then pressed Add to add an account. [Bug 807627] [NEW] URL is unreadable while page is loading

[Bug 797941] Re: shotwell prints filename on all photos
Shotwell's search capability does not current match the names of folders that pictures are in. This might be a reasonable idea, though I have some concern that it might yield mysterious matches for some users. Feel free to file a ticket at trac.yorba.org if you'd like us to consider this for a future release. Note that searching in Shotwell *does* match tag names. So in the example you gave above, you don't actually have to rename each individual picture: instead, you can tag all those pictures with oliver. Today, when you import photos into Shotwell it doesn't pay attention to the folder hierarchy containing those photos, though some users would like us to derive events automatically from that hierarchy; see http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2108 . That might also solve your problem, since Shotwell searches do match event names. Shotwell does have a plugin system but today it can only be used to add publishing destinations and new slideshow transitions, not filters or effects. It would be nice if Shotwell's plugins allowed arbitrary photo transformations, but we're not there yet.
