[Bug 529379] Re: in Lucid, automonting devices doen't work with pcmanfm
I've just come across this same problem booting from the Lubuntu Lucid Alpha 3 LiveCD on my Intel MacBook Pro. One of the features I most appreciate about pcmanfm is the way all connected volumes are detected and listed in the side pane of the pcmanfm window, where a simple click allows the relevant volume to be mounted and browsed. What first caught my attention was the lack of an entry for the MacBook's own internal HDD in the pcmanfm side pane. I then tried plugging in a variety of USB sticks, again without any of them showing up there (or anywhere else in the gui). So, yes - we're back to the command line if we want to actually mount anything. I think this might have something to do with the move from pcmanfm 0.5.2 to pcmanfm 0.9.0 (see http://blog.lxde.org/?p=616) and the deprecation of HAL in favour of gvfs (http://blog.lxde.org/?p=538). That said, the LXDE blog http://blog.lxde.org/?p=616 cited above does list 8. Basic auto-mount (provided by gvfs) as of the Major improvements offered under pcmanfm 0.9.0... [Bug 496908] Re: Not clear what update this installer will do
I actually thought it meant, check for an updated version of this installer i.e. clicking the button would simply check for (and, if found, install) a newer version of ubiquity - *not* any of the other software updates that might otherwise be dealt with post-installation. [Bug 352179] [NEW] trackpad scrolling poor in Acer Aspire One 10.1
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics With the 10.1 inch version of the Acer Aspire One, scrolling using the trackpad is difficult to use. It would appear to be restricted to a very narrow border of the trackpad and cannot be achieved reliably. This has been seen with Jaunty alphas 4-6 and with daily-live from 24/03. [Bug 212028] Re: Xubuntu 8.04 beta not mounting my other partitions
Don't know if this is a bug as such, more of a wishlist item perhaps? The wish being that Xubuntu liveCDs should detect internal hard drive partitions and iconify them in the gui, allowing the user to graphically mount and then browse them. If I put an Ubuntu (i.e. Gnome) liveCD in my machine, click on Places Computer, Nautilus opens a window containing an icon for the partition on my machine's internal hdd on which my regular, everyday version of Ubuntu is installed. Clicking on this icon gives me the option to mount this, which in turn allows me to browse the entire installed filesystem on this internal hdd using Nautilus. Ubuntu liveCDs from Feisty onwards have enabled this procedure. (As I recall, the original Warty liveCD allowed graphical access to internal partitions - by an icon on the desktop if I remember correctly - but such access was not available from liveCDs from Hoary-Edgy inclusive.) However, even the latest daily build of the Xubuntu Hardy liveCD does not enable the above gui-based procedure - as belovedmonster discovered when trying to access Windows partitions using the beta version. What makes this odd is that I *can* access the internal hdd partition on my machine using another xfce-based liveCD - ZenwalkLive 5.0. This would appear to automount the partition under /mnt, which I can then browse graphically using Thunar (by clicking on the /mnt icon in the 'Filesystem' window - this icon being slightly differently from the rest, indicating I guess that something of interest is indeed mounted there). So why should Xubuntu not allow graphical access to the contents of internal partitions? N.B. this is not necessarily a request that Xubuntu should automount them as ZenwalkLive does - merely that it should match the functionality of Gnome-based Ubuntu liveCDs in allowing the user to choose to mount them graphically. -- Xubuntu 8.04 beta not mounting my other partitions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/212028 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 131611] Re: [Tribe 4] Progress bar isn't aligned with the logo
Hi, This looks like the same bug I filed the other day (#134768). And, yes, it's still there on Tribe 5. But my observation is that the whole progress bar is oversized - too long, too thick and too blurry (compared with my normal Feisty install) - with all the extra length going to the right, hence the *appearance* of its being misaligned to the right. -- [Tribe 4] Progress bar isn't aligned with the logo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/131611 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: usplash When booting either Tribe 4 or Tribe 5 desktop cd, in both i386 and amd64 variants, progress bar is outsized (on my screen, extends over 16.8cm rather than the usual 10.5cm and is 1 or 2 mm taller) and is displaced to right of screen (i.e. it starts on the correct place + extra length is all to the right). [Bug 99538] Re: Feisty usb stick Cannot eject volume
Some of the recent postings here have prompted me to re-test some of the assertions I made in my March 31st bug report. I first of all try unmounting the following devices from the gui (BEFORE trying Martin Pitt's suggestion): External USB hard drive: PROBLEM REPLICATED. Right-click on desktop icon; left click on item 10 on context menu (which reads Eject): problem re-occurs. USB Pen Drive: NOT REPLICATED. Right-click on desktop icon; left click on item 10 on context menu (which reads Eject): device successfully unmounted. CD-ROM: NOT REPLICATED. Right-click on desktop icon; left click on item 10 on context menu (which reads Eject): CD successfully unmounted and ejected. I THEN try Martin's suggestion: sudo mv /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/10-storage-policy.fdi ~ followed by rebooting. THIS SOLVES THE PROBLEM WITH EXTERNAL USB HARD DRIVES: Right-click on desktop icon; left click on item 10 on context menu (which now reads Unmount Volume): device successfully unmounted, with NO ERRORS REPORTED. I next move the .fdi file back to /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/, and reboot: The USB External Hard Drive Problem RETURNS. I then repeat Martin's suggestion, moving the .fdi file back to my /home directory, and try again - this time WITHOUT REBOOTING: the USB External Hard Drive Problem is ONCE AGAIN SOLVED. Finally, I check the properties of the (now much-traveled!) 10-storage- policy.fdi file: it was modified on Fri 30 Mar 2007 at 19:22:05 BST, which is completely consistent with when this bug started affecting me. Curious that for me at least, this problem (prior to implementing Martin's workaround) now seems to be confined to External USB Hard Drives. I'm still pretty sure that back on 31st March, I was having these problems trying to unmount all kinds of removable devices / other media from my AMD64 system. Seems that other people have been having more general problems too... -- Feisty usb stick Cannot eject volume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99538 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 99538] Re: Feisty usb stick Cannot eject volume
Right through this evening I've been encountering what seems to be the same bug each time I try to unmount/eject any type of removable drive or removable media (including a cd-rom as well as couple of usb hard drives) from my AMD64 version of feisty (see screenshot below). This problem occurs whether the devices are mounted singly or in multiple. As far as I recall, this was not happening yesterday evening, so I'm tempted to attribute this to something I picked up as part of this morning's regular updates - in particular, my suspicions center around the new gnome-mount_0.5-2ubuntu6_amd64.deb package (Modified: Fri 30 Mar 2007 20:03:45 BST) now sitting in my /var/cache/apt/archives directory. Could this be the culprit here? ** Attachment added: Screenshot http://librarian.launchpad.net/7095551/Screenshot.png -- Feisty usb stick Cannot eject volume https://launchpad.net/bugs/99538 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
