[Bug 1176318] [NEW] Unity Greeter lock screen is not available on Ubuntu 13.04

2013-05-04 Thread Buddhika Perera
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am quite new to ubuntu and I have been trying to find the solution to
this on the ubuntu blogs, which I have found quite usefel (on a side
note). I am unsure if this is the right place to inquire about this,
soory if it isnt.

I used to have the Unity Greeter as my Lock screen on 13.04 just a few
days ago but after a fresh installation, the unity greeter lock screen
is not available. Instead now I get the old styled white lock dialogue
box.

Attached a screenshot from a website of what I am talking about.
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/new-lightdm-lockscreen.jpg
http://www.iloveubuntu.net/unity-greeter-021-released-improved-theming-ubuntu-1204-lts

I have also tried several commands such as to no avail,
sudo apt-get build-dep unity-greeter command
sudo apt-get install --reinstall lightdm
sudo apt-get install --reinstall unity-greeter
as mentioned on,
http://askubuntu.com/questions/281420/cant-compile-unity-greeter-13-04-1-on-ubuntu-12-04

Has this functionality been stopped or is it a system setting that needs
to be changed on 13.04? How can I activate this on my system?

I would be grateful for any help, because I have looked on several
websites and there is active discussion on this but no resolution.

Thanks in advance!
B

[Bug 449260] Re: empathy needs a persistent new message indicator

2010-01-10 Thread Buddhika Siddhisena
Another +1 vote to fixing this annoying paper cut. Ideally change color
depending on the messenger which is less annoying than something
blinking and on the pop up dialog show the number of pending messages
against the service.

I too am still having this problem with the latest Ubuntu 9.10 where my
ipod 5.5g video isn't detected. It is detected in Rhythm Box. The issue
seems to be with podsleuth in detecting the ipod

[Bug 355851] Re: [Jaunty] OpenOffice prints off top of sheet (Letter vs A4 problem?)

2009-04-08 Thread Buddhika Siddhisena
I am having the same problem. When I selected Legal size it chops off
text at the top about 1.5 inches. A4 size seems to print ok. This
happens on openoffice and pdf document viewer. I've tested with hp
laserjet (foo2zjs) 1020 and hp laserjet 2015 (hpijs).

This seems work fine with Ubuntu 8.10 so its a new bug introduced in
9.04.

[Bug 63450] Re: acpid install fails (because of hal running)

2008-11-01 Thread Buddhika
Ricardo,

Your problem is unrelated to this bug. You appear to have a non-Ubuntu
version of the update-rc.d program installed, which is normally
provided by the sysv-rc package. In Ubuntu, versions
2.86.ds1-14.1ubuntu2 and above of sysv-rc support a multiuser option
to update-rc.d; since your update-rc.d does not support this, you
evidently aren't using the Ubuntu package.

You should correct this by installing the sysv-rc package from the
Ubuntu archive in place of the non-Ubuntu one you currently have
installed.

You have solved my problem. Thanks a lot :)

[Bug 98688] Re: Firefox hangs when closing a page with flash running

2007-12-16 Thread Buddhika
OK, I think my issues was corrected after some steps. Seems like the
reason for my FF problem is caused by a clash between Flash-non free
plug-in and Gnash player. After unstalling both from synaptic and
installing only flash plugin solved my FF issue.

Cheers,
Buddhika

[Bug 98688] Re: Firefox hangs when closing a page with flash running

2007-12-15 Thread Buddhika
Hay,

I'm facing the same issue but in my case it's worse. FF hangs in the
first time of loading a flash clip. This is a real headache.

My specs are,
Linux 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 21:45:15 GMT 2007 x86_64 GNU/Linux

If there's any thing I can help to fix this bug will glad to provide it.
