[Bug 1915674] Re: Sharing folder in Files: "net usershare" returned error 255
I see that the feature that it seems to conflict with is the `[homes]` section in /etc/samba/smb.conf (which makes it so that every user's home directory is exported as a share), so maybe commenting out that whole section and restarting samba might do the trick. See https://www.samba.org/samba/docs/current/man-html/smb.conf.5.html for more information about this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1915674 Title: Sharing folder in Files: "net usershare" returned error 255 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1915674/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1753655] [NEW] fwupd doesn't release hidraw devices
Public bug reported: fwupd doesn't release hidraw devices for unplugged peripherals, causing the kernel to keep allocating new hidraw devices until it hits HIDRAW_MAX_DEVICES. Steps to reproduce: 1. Ensure that fwupd.service is running 2. Plug in a Logitech Unifying Receiver (or any other thing that creates a hidraw device that fwupd recognizes) 3. Unplug it. 4. Repeat 2 and 3, and note that the allocated hidraw device number keeps increasing. 5. HIDRAW_MAX_DEVICES=64, so after /dev/hidraw64 is hit, no new hidraw devices can be allocated until fwupd is restarted 6. [Bug 1731420] Re: gnome-shell hangs (goes into key repeat runaway) when key repeat is used on chromium-browser's address bar
The key repeat runaway also happens occasionally in urxvt when the CPU is sufficiently loaded, but can be recovered by hitting the key in question again, and doesn't lead to GNOME Shell hanging. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1731420 Title: gnome-shell hangs (goes into key repeat runaway) when key repeat is used on chromium-browser's address bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1731420/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1731420] [NEW] gnome-shell hangs (goes into key repeat runaway) when key repeat is used on chromium-browser's address bar
Public bug reported: GNOME Shell running in Wayland completely hangs when the key repeat rate is sufficiently high and used inside Chromium and/or Google Chrome. Then GNOME Shell, at-spi's dbus-daemon, ibus-daemon, and chromium-browser all get stuck at 100% CPU. GNOME Shell's RSS also quickly increases to >2GB and continues climbing. Attempting to kill chromium-browser in a separate TTY either causes one of two things: - gnome-shell, dbus-daemon and ibus-daemon remain at 100% CPU and stuck; or - gnome-shell temporarily recovers, then crashes, taking the entire session with it and returning to the login screen. Steps to reproduce: 1. Set key repeat rates to a high value (these are my actual settings): $ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.keyboard repeat-interval 3 $ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.keyboard repeat true $ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.keyboard delay 180 2. Start chromium-browser 3. Focus the location bar in chromium-browser 4. Press and hold a key (e.g. a) for a few seconds (~10 should do) 5. Observe that gnome-shell probably has hung by this point. If it hasn't, proceed to step 6. 6. Press and hold the backspace button until the location bar has cleared, then continue for another few seconds (~10 seconds should do) This also affected GNOME Shell 3.24, but I was able to reduce the chances of it happening by renicing my chromium processes to +10, thereby giving GNOME Shell a greater chance at the CPU. [Bug 1719287] [NEW] libnss-resolve causes gnome-shell to hang when there's a high rate of getaddrinfo() calls
Public bug reported: I've been running a locust[1]-based web load test on my Ubuntu machine running GNOME Shell (wayland). When starting a new test with a client spawn rate of ~500/s, it issues a huge amount of getaddrinfo() calls. When using libnss-resolve, this causes a huge number of NameOwnerChanged events on the system bus: signal time=1506335482.865950 sender=org.freedesktop.DBus -> destination=(null destination) serial=227290 path=/org/freedesktop/DBus; interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameOwnerChanged string ":1.190697" string "" string ":1.190697" signal time=1506335482.868601 sender=org.freedesktop.DBus -> destination=(null destination) serial=227291 path=/org/freedesktop/DBus; interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameOwnerChanged string ":1.190697" string ":1.190697" string "" signal time=1506335483.305614 sender=org.freedesktop.DBus -> destination=(null destination) serial=227292 path=/org/freedesktop/DBus; interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameOwnerChanged string ":1.190698" string "" string ":1.190698" signal time=1506335483.310873 sender=org.freedesktop.DBus -> destination=(null destination) serial=227293 path=/org/freedesktop/DBus; interface=org.freedesktop.DBus; member=NameOwnerChanged string ":1.190698" string ":1.190698" string "" This in turn causes gnome-shell to spend a huge amount of CPU churning through these events, and if sufficiently starved of CPU (those load testing scripts also consume quite a bit) when interacting with Google Chome, it goes into key repeat runaway (similar to [2]). I'm not completely certain, but there were quite a number of other processes affected by this, and all of them start fighting over CPU time to handle these NameOnwerChanged events. As a workaround, disabling libnss-resolve in /etc/nsswitch.conf and just using the stub resolver fixes things. [Bug 1453655] Re: desktop icons disappear on Ubuntu 15.04 when clicking Open Dropbox folder
** Description changed: I've been using both Ubuntu and dropbox for several years. With Ubuntu 15.04 there is a new problem that my desktop icons disappear when I click on the dropbox icon in the status bar and choose Open Dropbox Folder. Then the desktop icons will disappear - but will remain visible in Files - Desktop. The only way I know to get the desktop icons back is to log out and then log back in again. The bug is 100% reproducible, and it never appeared before 15.04. I also have Copy on my status bar. Clicking on Copy - Open Copy Folder has no problems. Likewise I can use File with a right click and use Open a New Window and that too is OK. Only dropbox has a problem and only since 15.04 If I can help in any way, please contact me ilan.tal - at - gmail.com + + [Impact] + DE-agnostic programs that invoke nautilus using nautilus --no-desktop will make the nautilus-rendered desktop vanish. Dropbox is one such case. + + [Test Case] + 1. Launch nautilus, and make sure it is currently rendering the desktop. + 2. Run nautilus --no-desktop / + 3. As a worst case, --no-desktop would not function correctly in cases where nautilus is not already running (--no-desktop when nautilus is not already running means nautilus should not render the desktop at all). Just to make sure, this additional test case should be used: + + 1. Kill nautilus, and make sure it doesn't get relaunched. + 2. [Bug 1447956] Re: Banshee interface unresponsive after upgrade to 15.04
There are two approaches you can take for this: 1. Wait for it to enter vivd-updates. Now that it's been confirmed, this should happen soon. 2. Forcibly install it from vivid-proposed together with the libglib2.0-0 updates that it wants. For #2, the command in question should be something along the lines of sudo apt-get install banshee/vivid-proposed libglib2.0-0/vivid-proposed libglib2.0-bin/vivid-proposed. I haven't tested this command, but I think it should work. Otherwise, you could try to disable the pin that causes vivid-proposed to get a lower pin-priority in apt. This will cause a flood of -proposed changes (which may or may not introduce regressions), so I advise against this approach. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1447956 Title: Banshee interface unresponsive after upgrade to 15.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/banshee/+bug/1447956/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1453655] Re: desktop icons disappear on Ubuntu 15.04 when clicking Open Dropbox folder
The command is nautilus $HOME/Dropbox, not $HOME/Dropbox. And nevermind, I've figured it out. Dropbox launches nautilus using nautilus --no-desktop $HOME/Dropbox, which, in Ubuntu 15.04, turns off the desktop icon rendering. I think this is solely a bug in nautilus, because as far as I know, --no-desktop was supposed to just tell nautilus not to render the desktop *only* while launching. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1453655 Title: desktop icons disappear on Ubuntu 15.04 when clicking Open Dropbox folder To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1453655/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

As a non-administrative user, you're not able to add yourself to sambashare, and hence nautilus-share can't take care of this for you under your own account. This means the error message is valid, and you do need to ask your system's administrator to add you to sambashare.
