[Bug 1242185] Re: [regression] cups-daemon hard-depends on avahi-daemon
That's awesome, thanks for figuring out how to make it work cleanly for everyone. There is a problem with the testing request, though. [Bug 1175944] Re: getstream quits with SIGABRT when ANY of the tuners loses signal
UPDATE: Progress! The stall was traced to a the while loop in dvr_input_ts ( dvr.c:68 ) When psi_reassemble does not increase off, it gets called again with the same arguments - inf-loop I believe that that can happen only when section-len == 0. I have no idea where is that coming from nor why. Getstream itself? Kernel? USB DVBT tuner's firmware? Tuner's hardware? Actual content of the signal? The .patch attached does _NOT_ fix the cause of the aborts. It only makes sure that psi_reassemble either makes progress or returns errors and prevents the inf-loop. I am not even sure that PSI_RC_LENFAIL is the correct return code for the situation. PSI_RC_NOPAYLOAD? PSI_RC_CORRUPT? I also attach a pack with on-abor/lockup stacktraces I collected. I'll let it run for a week and see, whether it actually worked. So far the attached not-fix successfully replaced all abort lines with warning lines in the logs, making getstream useful again. I don't think that the patch is ready for upstream, but at least it allows me to use getstream I hope it helps someone more involved than me to actually fix the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175944 Title: getstream quits with SIGABRT when ANY of the tuners loses signal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/getstream/+bug/1175944/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1175944] Re: getstream quits with SIGABRT when ANY of the tuners loses signal
correction: If the multiplex from the *affected (signal loss)* tuner was streamed somewhere. Well, the watchdog is really necessary. The event loop gets stuck eventually when one of the tuners has poor signal (and perhaps when I attempt to watch it?). So far it seems that increasing the watchdog timeout from 1s to 2s reduces the abort rate dramatically. [Bug 1170117] Re: [gm45] Xv video corruption when obstructed by shaped windows (corner case)
It was a bit harder to figure out the position of the topright fbrun this time.. So far it seems to always work when the topright fbrun obstructs one of the red blinking lights. I was unable to reproduce easily with vlc, likely because of it's bottom status bar preventing easy placement of the bottom-down fbrun But I wasn't even able to reproduce with original mplayer! I forgot to mention that I was using mplayer2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170117 Title: [gm45] Xv video corruption when obstructed by shaped windows (corner case) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1170117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1170117] Re: [gm45] Xv video corruption when obstructed by shaped windows (corner case)
a copy of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg- video-intel/+bug/1162046/comments/10 The fix arrived with the updates today. Most of the corruption is gone. Almost all the frames now get though undamaged. Thanks for the fix. BUT Some of the video frames still get damaged when drawn. However, it does depend on the video content (and possibly on (absolute) window positions) I attach a short captured dvb-t video to be played with mplayer2 using Xv output and a picture with the example fbrun dialogue positions. Steps: Fluxbox with a round-cornered theme. mplayer2 with the testcase.ts file, pause it as soon as it starts fbrun #1, so it's bottom-left corner perfectly matches with the mplayer2's bottom-left corner fbrun #2 somewhere in the video area, preferably far from the fbrun #1 unpause mplayer. I observed damage between fbrun #2 and the right edge of the Xv video. Notes: fbrun's windows don't seem to be resizeable, mplayer opens a window 1:1 to the input (so, exactly defined again) It seems to depend a bit on the position of the Xv window on the screen. It does rarely work when the Xv is close to screen edges = preferably position the Xv window somewhat in the middle of the screen. PS: Alternatively you can start mplayer with -fixed-vo -loop 0 as arguments for mplayer instead of pausing/unpausing That will give you a continuous loop in the same Xv window. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1170117 Title: [gm45] Xv video corruption when obstructed by shaped windows (corner case) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1170117/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1162820] Re: [eCryptfs on ext4] Delete files and Remove leaks HDD space
The HDD space leak makes it hard to debug.. I tried with a more precise approach this time and installed no updates between downloading and removal. The file I removed had 30MB, Free space before removal: 47M, Free space after removal: 47M Is there anything in particular that I should try? I don't like wasting my precious HDD space on random attempts. removing transmission-downloaded files with rm restores the free space as one would expect. System info: Using 13.04. The file was present both in $path and $cryptopath (checked by ls -lSrh and comparing timestamps and sizes) df -h reported 47M of free space Started transmission-gtk and selected Delete files and Remove, confirmed The file was gone from both directories, BUT df -h still reported 47M of free space Terminated transmission.. 47M of free space shutdown and new startup.. 47M of free space forced fsck..discovered that the free space and free inode counters were wrong, I actually have only 46MB of free space. ** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Release: 13.04 Raring Package: transmission-gtk 2.77 (14031) Package: ecryptfs-utils 103-0ubuntu2 Kernel: 3.8.0-14-generic x86_64 + apport: 2.9.2-0ubuntu5, does not work Using ecryptfs = Yes + ext4 mount options: rw,nodiratime,relatime,discard,errors=remount-ro This used to happen on 12.10 Quantal as well. download something. - (Wait a year, install updates.. - My ecryptfs directories now contain shorter and longer encrypted/hashed names, perhaps there is an error in there?) OOPS.. I just found out what is happening. Transmission established a folder called ~/.local/share/trash and moved the file there instead of deletion! This is a serious issue. How was I supposed to know that one application decided that I want to keep my garbage? The button should be renamed from Delete to something else to indicate that. [Bug 1162046] Re: [gm45] Xv video falls apart and flickers when obstructed by 2 windows
Did that help? PS: pekwm's default theme also has round corners. PS2: The video can be even in a paused state. (in VLC that doesn't even stop the flickering, while in mplayer2 it does. But the way how the frame is damaged changes with the position of the obstructing windows) For very small dialogs of fluxbox's fbrun it doesn't seem to matter where are they positioned, as long as they are completely inside the Xv window and don't overlap each other. This might be related to the fact that fluxbox automatically puts it in the topmost above dock layer. xterm's windows seem to be a bit more picky -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1162046 Title: [gm45] Xv video falls apart and flickers when obstructed by 2 windows To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1162046/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Xv video does not paint properly when partially obstructed by multiple windows in certain places. (see the attachment) Note that one of the obstructing windows depicts my attempt to use apport-bug. I tried with mplayer2 and vlc as Xv video players. [Bug 1155926] [NEW] GeForce FX 5700 - Digital DVI output turned off on boot, X11 does not see the output at all.
Public bug reported: I upgraded to Raring and lost my digital video output. The computer has 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation NV36.2 [GeForce FX 5700] (rev a1) video card. The card has two connectors (VGA and DVI-I) and provides THREE video outputs (2x analogue, 1x digital) The card's bios correctly detects which outputs are connected and uses them. I can see BIOS and GRUB on digital. But then the kernel boots and turns the DVI-I:Digital output off (and turns on DVI-I:Analogue) I am planning to reinstall that machine, so I don't mind running unverified kernels on them.
