[Bug 741877] Re: Cannot remove one RSS feed subscription

2018-08-26 Thread drunken monkey
I checked, and the feed is not in my subscriptions anymore (I'm also on Arch
now), so apparently I succeeded in removing it at some point.
Closing with “Fix Released” seemed the most appropriate, hopefully that's
correct.

Wow. Thanks for getting back to me.
No, this has been working again for years now, I can't even remember it
starting to work again.
Anyways, sorry for not reporting back to this issue at that time.
But thanks again for getting back, and apparently attacking the issue backlog!

[Bug 1366357] [NEW] Banshee freezes shortly (about 5–10s) between songs

2014-09-06 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

Two days ago, I made some small changes to my music library in Banshee,
removing some songs, adding others, etc. But not on a large scale.

Anyways, since then I have the problem that after every song (I'm
playing a playlist, in shuffle mode) Banshee freezes for several
seconds, the window graying out after a few of them, until playback
resumes normally with the next song. The same upon initially starting
playback and when skipping ahead to the next song.

I activated --debug and got the following output when Banshee freezes:

[5 Warn 18:24:58.416] Executed in 18321ms SELECT
CoreTracks.Rating,CoreTracks.LastStreamError,CoreTracks.TrackID,CoreTracks.PrimarySourceID,CoreTracks.ArtistID,CoreTracks.AlbumID,CoreTracks.TagSetID,CoreTracks.MusicBrainzID,CoreTracks.MimeType,CoreTracks.FileSize,CoreTracks.FileModifiedStamp,CoreTracks.LastSyncedStamp,CoreTracks.Attributes,CoreTracks.Title,CoreTracks.TitleSort,CoreTracks.TrackNumber,CoreTracks.TrackCount,CoreTracks.Disc,CoreTracks.DiscCount,CoreTracks.Duration,CoreTracks.Year,CoreTracks.Genre,CoreTracks.Composer,CoreTracks.Conductor,CoreTracks.Grouping,CoreTracks.Copyright,CoreTracks.LicenseUri,CoreTracks.Comment,CoreTracks.BPM,CoreTracks.BitRate,CoreTracks.SampleRate,CoreTracks.BitsPerSample,CoreTracks.Score,CoreTracks.PlayCount,CoreTracks.SkipCount,CoreTracks.ExternalID,CoreTracks.LastPlayedStamp,CoreTracks.LastSkippedStamp,CoreTracks.DateAddedStamp,CoreTracks.DateUpdatedStamp,CoreTracks.Uri,CoreArtists.Name,CoreArtists.NameSort,CoreAlbums.Title,CoreAlbums.TitleSort,CoreAlbums.ArtistName,CoreAlbums.ArtistNameSort,CoreAlbums.IsCompilation,CoreAlbums.MusicBrainzID,CoreArtists.MusicBrainzID
 , OrderID, CoreCache.ItemID FROM CoreTracks,CoreArtists,CoreAlbums
INNER JOIN CorePlaylistEntries
ON CoreTracks.TrackID = CorePlaylistEntries.TrackID
INNER JOIN CoreCache
ON CorePlaylistEntries.EntryID = CoreCache.ItemID
WHERE
CoreCache.ModelID = 131 AND CoreArtists.ArtistID =
CoreTracks.ArtistID AND CoreAlbums.AlbumID = CoreTracks.AlbumID
AND 1=1
AND LastStreamError = 0
AND (LastPlayedStamp 1410024153 OR LastPlayedStamp IS
NULL)
AND (LastSkippedStamp 1410024153 OR LastSkippedStamp
IS NULL)
ORDER BY RANDOM () LIMIT 1

So, apparently, there is a really slow SQL query executed for finding
out the next song. What I don't understand, though, is why this problem
suddenly occurred, since I only added a few songs to that playlist –
also, there are now only 365 songs in that list, so really nothing that
should lead to such lags.

[Bug 1250550] Re: Java plugin crash

2013-11-12 Thread Monkey
-Ubuntu 13.04 (Upgraded over time from 12.04 x64)

[Bug 1222096] [NEW] Software Updater popup displays every hour

2013-09-07 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

Since yesterday, the Software Updater popup is displayed about hourly, no
matter whether there are updates available. It'll usually only read The
software on this computer is up to date., I'll click OK and an hour or so
later it pops up again.
Updating, if there are updates, works fine, so it's not a big problem, but it's

[Bug 993989] Re: can't connect to Jabber account

2013-08-13 Thread drunken monkey
Ah, thanks a lot for posting this!

However, I couldn't apply this workaround successfully on Ubuntu: I had
libsasl2-2 already installed, and adding libgsasl7, too, also made no
difference. Or would I need to re-install pidgin for this to take effect?
Have you succeeded in applying this fix in Ubuntu? If so, how?

Thanks again for sharing this! In any case, I hope it brings some
developer on the right track.

[Bug 1170783] Re: Opening shutdown dialog immediately triggers reboot

2013-06-02 Thread Monkey
This bug affects me as well on a fresh install of Raring, fully up to
date as of today. At first it seemed to work fine but shortly after I
began using the system it began exhibiting this behavior. It seems to do
it all the time for me now. I'm unsure of what information I can
provide, if any, to help.

[Bug 1179180] Re: Impossible to open Empathy contact list window if already started with '-h' option

2013-06-01 Thread Monkey
I just did a fresh install of Raring today on both my Desktop (64bit)
and Laptop (32bit). I also installed all available updates on both. I
can confirm that this is an issue in both and is extremely easy to
reproduce. I tried to use dconf-editor to enable the Hidden Window
option and it does nothing at all. The only way to get Empathy to start
hidden is the use of one of the two command line options and both cause
you to lose access to the contact list permanently, even while
everything else runs fine in the background. I can receive messages
fine, for example. When I click on them, I can see the chat window and
respond like normal.

[Bug 1176379] Re: Streaming videos over LAN with GVFS often locks up VLC Media Player in Ubuntu 13.04

2013-06-01 Thread Monkey
Fresh install of Raring 64bit with all updates as of this moment. I can
confirm this issue and add some detail. I've used the Marlin file
manager rather than Nautilus and it doesn't change anything. I'm unable
to play media files over 200mb, it locks up every time and I cannot kill
vlc at all other than closing the interface with Alt+F4. Media files
under 200mb play correctly 90% of the time without locking vlc up. Totem
(or Videos) can play all the same media files, all the time with no
issues. I've attempted to get a debug log from vlc but it crashes so
early/hard that it never logs anything to the debug log.

[Bug 958392] Re: scroll on workspace swicher doesn't change workspace

programs on top in the windowlist (windowlistapplet) and the workspace
switcher, when using fallback/classic in gnome3. (Commenting to add
keywords, as this was hard to find from google..)

[Bug 1082929] [NEW] Video muted after pausing

2012-11-25 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

Every time I pause a video in VLC and unpause it again, the sound is
gone. (It's not set to “Mute” or the volume to 0, I just don't get any
audio.) When I jump to another position in the video, no matter whether
with a mouse click in the progess indicator or with a keyboard shortcut,
and also no matter whether after unpausing or while the video is paused,
the sound will work again.

One note: I switched the Output module in the Preferences to ALSA, as
the audio with the “Default” setting had a nasty static in the
background. All other settings had that either, too, or no sound at all.

[Bug 1080847] [NEW] Screensaver not disabled during video playback

2012-11-19 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

Since I updated to Quantal (or, rather, re-installed, but kept /home), VLC
doesn't inhibit the screensaver anymore when playing videos (even in fullscreen
mode), even though the option is checked.
So, after 10 minutes of watching, the screen suddenly turns black (it doesn't
even fade slowly, like it usually does) and I have to move the mouse or press a
key to see the video again.

Could be related to this bug, but I thought it's too old to be still active:

[Bug 1002983] [NEW] Wrong URL / path used for repository

2012-05-22 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

Since 8 days the update manager (and command line apt-get) seems to use
a non-existent URL for one of the repositories. The error message I get
is this:

W:Failed to fetch
http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise/universe/source/Sources 404
Not Found [IP: 141.30.13.20 80]
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

Checking the URL in the browser, I see there's only Sources.gz and Sources.bz2.
Does anyone know why apt would think that's the right path, or how I could
change that?

[Bug 997968] Re: Error and stack trace on shutdown

2012-05-17 Thread drunken monkey
I'm sorry, but as the bug isn't freely reproducible (it hasn't occurred again
since I filed it) I don't think this will be possible. Even if I test the
kernel, I couldn't say whether the bug is really fixed there. Maybe it's even
fixed already …
I know that's an unsatisfactory situation for you, but I guess I'll first wait
whether it even occurs a third time.

[Bug 997968] [NEW] Error and stack trace on shutdown

2012-05-11 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

It's now the second time that when I shut down, after the normal shut down
procedures there is suddenly a black screen with console output indicating some
error*. The image changes every one or two minutes, apparently scrolling down
in the console output, revealing a stack trace after the error.
I managed to get my camera and take pictures of all screens after the first one
(regrettably, I was too late for that). See attachment.

* Actually, I always shortly see console output when shutting down,
which is also a bit nasty, but usually there are no (major) error
messages. This occurs ever since I installed precise, but should
probably be a different bug report. Maybe I'll make a video once.

[Bug 993989] [NEW] can't connect to Jabber account

2012-05-03 Thread drunken monkey
Public bug reported:

Since updating to Ubuntu Precise (before, I hand Lucid) Pidgin won't connect to
my Jabber account. It gets deactivated with the message Not authorized, no
further messages. It happens regardless of whether I use my old configuration
or move the whole .purple folder and set the account up afresh.
However, it works with (e.g.) Gajim, and even with Pidgin on Windows (2.10.3,
the same version), so this is almost definitely a Pidgin problem.

Here is the (hopefully) relevant (and slightly censored) output of
`pidgin --debug`:

[Bug 946755] Re: Cannot login to domain with likewise-open under Precise Pangolin Beta

2012-04-16 Thread Monkey
12.04 Beta 2, up to date as of today. The only issue I had was my domain
account not being recognized as a sudoer. Here are the details.

/etc/sudoers:
%DOMAIN\\domain^users ALL=(ALL) ALL

I changed it to this instead, which fixed it:

/etc/sudoers:
domain^users ALL=(ALL) ALL

Something must just have changed, which requires a small rewrite of how
we recognize AD groups in the sudoers file. Anyway, hope that helps
someone else.

[Bug 531190] Re: upower (devkit-power) reporting bad data when AC cable is unplugged

2011-09-29 Thread Monkey
In order to work around this issue in Oneiric, you can issue the
following command:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power 'use-time-for-
policy' 'false'

You can alternatively do the following:

1. sudo apt-get install dconf-tools
2. dconf-editor
3. Navigate to the 'org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power' section
4. Uncheck 'use-time-for-policy'

I still get a popup when unplugging the power but I just hit Cancel and
everything works fine. Before I did this, it would hibernate/turn
off/whatever no matter what I did.

[Bug 807943] Re: installation crashes

2011-07-09 Thread Monkey
Looking at the attachments in this bug report, I noticed that one was
flagged as a patch incorrectly. A patch contains changes to an Ubuntu
package that will resolve a bug, since this was not one I've unchecked
the patch flag for it. In the future keep in mind the definition of a
patch. You can learn more about what qualifies as a patch at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Patches. Thanks!

[Bug 802732] Re: Pidgin crashes randomly

2011-06-28 Thread Monkey
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can
be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable
apport in /etc/default/apport and restart.

Now open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the
crash report you wish to submit.
If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with
'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is
the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed
to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug
/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 802425] Re: Force close

2011-06-27 Thread Monkey
Looking at the attachments in this bug report, I noticed that one was
flagged as a patch incorrectly. A patch contains changes to an Ubuntu
package that will resolve a bug, since this was not one I've unchecked
the patch flag for it. In the future keep in mind the definition of a
patch. You can learn more about what qualifies as a patch at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Patches. Thanks!
