[Bug 824144] Re: [EeePC 1001 PXD] suspend/resume kills bluetooth

2011-09-29 Thread Nattgew
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 that I just upgraded to Oneiric. I've had the same
issue with Bluetooth not working when resuming from suspend. It used to work
fine in Natty.
If I do
sudo service bluetooth restart
Then Bluetooth works fine again. I also see the same lines in dmesg:

[ 7343.518981] btusb 7-2.1:1.0: no reset_resume for driver btusb?
[ 7343.518987] btusb 7-2.1:1.1: no reset_resume for driver btusb?

[Bug 862657] [NEW] Bottom of text cut off in Now Playing area

2011-09-29 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Where Rhythmbox displays the track and artist that are playing, everything
below the normal bottom of the characters is cut off. Any 'p', 'y', etc. has
the bottom part cut off.
This is kind of an extension of text being too big in Rhythmbox in general...
at least it seems like it's bigger than it was in Natty.

[Bug 838857] Re: Unity window manager places Gnome Terminal in odd places on vertical monitor arrangement

2011-09-29 Thread Nattgew
This is interesting... I was using a similar setup in Natty, but with the
laptop screen set to be above the secondary one (because of issue with
secondary one). I did notice some strange window placement behavior (not
exactly what you're describing), but I enabled the window placement plugin for
Compiz and it seemed to get better.
I'm running Oneiric now and I haven't noticed this happen, either.

[Bug 862738] [NEW] Panel on top monitor for dual monitor has no transparency

2011-09-29 Thread Nattgew

[Bug 231804] Re: Network doesn't start automatically

2011-09-20 Thread Nattgew
I know this bug is kind of old... but I've been having this problem with 11.10.
Every time I boot or resume my Cr-48, I have to manually run
sudo service networking start
And then I have to do
sudo iwlist wlan0 scanning
Only then does Network Manager finally pick up APs and connect.

[Bug 802040] Re: Last.fm Not Scrobbling

2011-07-23 Thread Nattgew
Evidently the implementation for Last.fm was changed and it was not clear that
this happened. Though the Last.fm section used to be just for playing radio,
it's now where the settings are managed (I like this, I just wish I had known
earlier). I had to re-authorize Rhythmbox with Last.fm. Once I did this, it
started submitting tracks again.
But I still don't know why it just stopped working without any indication.

[Bug 802040] [NEW] Last.fm Not Scrobbling

2011-06-25 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

I noticed that Rhythmbox is no longer submitting my tracks to Last.fm. I
checked the settings in gconf-editor and the command line seems to say nothing
relevant.
The plugin window for Last.fm used to show the username/password, and the
number sumbitted/queued tracks.
Now it just shows Last.fm/Libre.fm, and none of the other info.

[Bug 791025] [NEW] Banshee shows duplicates of U1MS purchases

2011-05-31 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: banshee

In my library, I have found some songs that are duplicated. I never had this
problem with Rhythmbox.
For songs purchased through the U1MS, I see two entries. Looking at the
properties, they are from these two locations:
~/.local/share/ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One/Band/Album
~/.ubuntuone/Purchased from Ubuntu One/Band/Album
It appears that the .local/share path links to the .ubuntuone path. So why is
it shown as two files?
I've also noticed that when I play some songs purchased from U1MS, it starts
uploading them to U1... I don't know if that's related.

Here's a set of photos and settings that gives me a sorting problem. The
problem with my full database is similar.
Photos should be sorted as shown in the Library section.
When I go to the Astronomy tag, they are sorted incorrectly. I closed and then
opened Shotwell, and they were sorted in a different incorrect order. I have to
switch the order between Ascending/Descending and back again for them to be
correctly sorted.

2011-04-26 Thread Nattgew
I had this happen after enabling the Expo plugin. I'm not sure if it
happened when I enabled it or after I used it, but it's doing just what
you described. The icons on the left still work fine.

[Bug 730968] Re: Upgrade from Maverick to Natty ignores some config settings

2011-04-26 Thread Nattgew
I've been playing around with different themes with Unity and had this black on
black issue too.
It seems that the Ambiance theme is the only one that will put white text on
the black panel, though the icons are still black.
Dust and other themes will set black panel with black text.
Some of the Equinox themes also do this (but not all), though they aren't
standard.
Setting an opacity with compiz-config in the Unity plugin helps things a bit
(if you have a lighter background, of course).
It seems silly that the themes included with Ubuntu will not be usable with the
default environment.

[Bug 192502] Re: bluetooth audio skips, cuts out

2011-02-26 Thread Nattgew
The BCM2046 in my Inspiron 1525 has always performed fairly poorly. Sometimes I
can get it to work, but even moving the laptop just a little tends to make the
audio skip, and it's tough to get it to play right.
Interestingly, the Atheros AR5BBU12 in my Cr-48 runs great under Ubuntu. If I
block it with my hands, it has issues, but otherwise works much better.

Ubuntu 10.10 on both.

[Bug 709310] Re: unable to send/receive files via bluetooth

2011-02-04 Thread Nattgew
iTux, what kind of laptop/phone are you having issues with?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 to Droid Incredible phone (Android).
I've been sending files with Blueman to my phone just fine. It never worked
with my old phone (G'zone Boulder), and last night I tried to send a large file
and had some issues. But other than that it's been fine for me.

[Bug 713360] [NEW] Sony HWS-BTA2W won't show up for input

2011-02-04 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

I'm trying to set up Bluetooth sound input from my Sony HWS-BTA2W Bluetooth
device. It can either receive or transmit audio, with a switch choosing the
mode (TX/RX). It works when I use it to receive audio from my laptop, Blueman
and the Pulse sound preferences set it up as an output just fine.
Even though it shows up as a headset in Blueman, it still connects it as only
an output in the sound preferences even when I have it set up in TX mode. The
laptop should be able to receive audio from it, right?
I'm not sure what other info I need to provide.

[Bug 630976] Re: Error when attempting to transfer music to iPhone 4

2010-10-30 Thread Nattgew
I get this problem too with my iPod touch 3G. I'm not sure it happens every
time, but it's pretty often.
Sometimes I've unenabled the iPod plugin, restarted Rhythmbox, and enabled the
plugin to get it working.

[Bug 667888] Re: Parts of text not rendered after scrolling

2010-10-30 Thread Nattgew
Maybe related:
Attached is a screenshot of Rhythmbox's title bar. Sometimes it loses parts of
the text, or some of it changes to the inactive color and some doesn't.
Also, whet I right click to get a menu or use menus in applications, sometimes
they only show parts of the menu, and I have to move the mouse down the entries
to get them to show correctly.

[Bug 667888] [NEW] Parts of text not rendered after scrolling

2010-10-28 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I notice this the most in Rhythmbox. If I scroll through music, some of the
rating stars on the right hand side lose their bottom half. Once the mouse is
moved over the row, they reappear. The rest of the text seems to be unaffected.
I also noticed it happened to the window title sometimes when switching between
workspaces, but I can't reproduce that for a screenshot right now.
When I take a screenshot, the screen refreshes and the stars are fine in the
screenshot. I took the attached image with a camera instead.

I noticed that under the menu for applications in unity, sometimes a group of
menu entries start to multiply. One was the example from Rhythmbox in attached

[Bug 545859] Re: Adding a facebook account to gwibber fails after logging into facebook

2010-10-26 Thread Nattgew
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 552227 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/552227

I tried adding the yalign line after the
property name=visibleTrue/property
line, still saw no buttons.
I don't think this is actually a duplicate of that crash bug if that's the fix
I'm after.

[Bug 595265] Re: Can not add Facebook account as add button not displayed after authorisation.

2010-10-26 Thread Nattgew
Seems like everyone has their own thing that works for them.
For me, it would not show the Save button until I removed Twitter first. Then
it showed the Save button, but it did nothing.
After trying many things, here is what finally worked (ideas found here):
Making Firefox default browser (I use Chrome), and logging into Facebook in
Firefox.
Opening broadcast account window and sizing it larger.
Adding account with username (not email address).
Following these steps gave me the Save button and allowed me to save my account
to Gwibber. Not sure if they were all necessary but I tried a lot of things
without success before this.

4xBilinear may be the fastest, but it barely blurs for me. Gaussian is the next
fastest, but it isn't as clean as Mipmap. Mipmap is slowest but looks better
than the others.
This bug shouldn't be a duplicate of 363174, that one is different and has been
fixed.

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult [please no more comments; patches welcome]

2010-10-20 Thread Nattgew
From the huge amount of comments here with people wanting a fix, and the
frequency that this bug would be encountered for the average user, I agree, it
should be higher. A simple task such as resizing a window should work better.
Yet, we must sit here and wish that it would be fixed in Metacity for Ubuntu,
and evidently it's more important that a theme look good than be usable. It
needs to do both.

[Bug 647599] [NEW] Mouse randomly left clicks after laptop lid closed and opened

2010-09-25 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I close my laptop lid for a while and then come back and try to use it,
the mouse randomly left clicks for a while. It's very annoying and makes it
hard to do anything. I thought it was by Bluetooth mouse, but even when I turn
it off and just use the touchpad it still randomly clicks. After a minute or so
it stops, which makes me think it's related to heat or something.
I've had this problem for a while. The last two times I've opened the lid, X
has been frozen, so I won't be able to test it until that doesn't happen.

[Bug 424215] Re: Bluetooth mouse usage makes A2DP audio stutter

2010-06-15 Thread Nattgew
Thanks for the tip about the hciconfig settings.

hciconfig hci0 lm ACCEPT,MASTER
hciconfig hci0 lp HOLD,SNIFF,PARK

Running those makes things much better. I can actually use the Bluetooth
mouse and play Bluetooth audio at the same time without totally losing
the audio. I'm going to try the udev rules and hopefully that keeps
things much better.

[Bug 263066] Re: Rhytmbox frezes when attempting to seek

2010-05-22 Thread Nattgew
I just tried it with Lucid. Dragging the position indicator is working
fine for me now (with an Ogg file). When I click on a position, it moves
there and plays, but audio goes away. Once I click pause, the audio
fades out and stops. I have to click play and then it plays fine.

Thanks for the update. I did have a .comments directory and upon removing it,

I didn't add any comments to the photos that I know of. Is it possible they
already had comments that gthumb put there?

[Bug 567025] [NEW] Compiz borks when tooltips are wider than screen

2010-04-19 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: compiz

I noticed this bug with Chrome. Chrome displays a tooltip of the page title
when you hover the mouse on a tab. It does not wrap the title so it displays
all on one line. Some pages I had open had really long titles (the whole long
web address of the page). Whenever I hovered for a tooltip, Compiz kind of
quits. Chrome goes fullscreen and won't go back to normal. It actually seems
like Compiz falls back to Metacity. The window manager stuff is still there,
just without compositing and effects. When run in a terminal, this is what
Compiz says:
Window manager warning: Treating resize request of legacy application 0x320006d
(http://air) as a fullscreen request
It doesn't crash, it just falls back. And doing Ctrl+C in the terminal really
does kill Compiz (always an adventure).
I do think that Chrome should handle the tooltips better (Firefox wraps the
same long titles), but Compiz should also handle this kind of event better.
I can get logs/screenshots if necessary.

[Bug 566381] [NEW] Lag when using module-loopback

2010-04-18 Thread Nattgew
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Using
pactl load-module module-loopback
I can route the mic input through output. However, the audio that comes out is
about half a second behind the audio coming in. This is okay for some things,
but for others, like musical instruments, game consoles, etc., the lag makes it
pretty much unusable for these uses.
Back in alsa this used to work fine without lag.

[Bug 566227] Re: run-parts: failed to exec /etc/kernel/postinst.d/pm-utils: Exec format error

2010-04-18 Thread Nattgew
I accidentally removed the -19 image and it's now having the same error
on install... which wasn't happening before. So maybe it's a problem
with something else?

[Bug 461044] Re: [gm45] Compiz is sluggish but glxgears runs at 1160 fps

2010-04-18 Thread Nattgew
I have the same things happening on a GM965. Expo and other switchers
are ok as long as there aren't too many windows. Desktop wall is always
really bad though. My glxgears is running at about 200 fps.
