[Bug 1045477] [NEW] incorrect handling of two batteries

2012-09-03 Thread Pawel Kot
Public bug reported:

I have two batteries: one main and one extended. The problem is when the
extended runs out of power and the main is still full, g-p-m triggers
the action on the critical power level while IMHO it should recognize
the other battery will last for more than two hours.

[Bug 908742] [NEW] screen backlight changes automatically for no reason

2011-12-26 Thread Pawel Kot
Public bug reported:

When working on HP EliteBook 8540w the screen gets lighter (up to 100%
brightness) and then darker (down to ~50% brightness). And it goes on
and on. It's kind of annoying. I think it was not like that before
upgrade to 11.10.

I have the screen setting to dim the screen on inactivity turned off.

[Bug 717921] Re: suspend does not work

2011-02-25 Thread Pawel Kot
I have tried the following two:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.36-maverick/
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.37-rc2-maverick/
There seems nothing more recent from 2.6.37 series for maverick. The result is:
 - 2.6.36 makes no difference
 - 2.6.37rc2 suspends and resumes correctly

Only additional thing about 2.6.37rc are the following messages in
dmesg:

[  101.165020] btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb 880221725240 failed to

BTW. With each kernel there seem to be something like 10 second break
when booting. Looks like something ext4 related.

[Bug 427805] Re: usb_find_devices() crashed with SIGSEGV in free()

2010-07-12 Thread Pawel Kot
As for realloc(). It indeed does not guarantee that it will point out to the
old chunk of memory. However it does guarantee that it will copy the relevant
part of the memory. Reading man realloc:
 The contents will be unchanged to the minimum of the old and new sizes;
So that should be just enough.

[Bug 427805] Re: usb_find_devices() crashed with SIGSEGV in free()

2010-07-09 Thread Pawel Kot
The patch applied is actually very wrong. And it breaks for example gnokii.
If you look at the code you find this:

interface-altsetting = realloc(interface-altsetting, sizeof(struct
usb_interface_descriptor) * (interface-num_altsetting + 1));

Which means that the structure is reallocated to add new altsetting. If
you then zero the whole altsetting you zero all previous altsetting.
What about zeroing just allocated space? Please see the attached patch
(untested).

** Patch added: libusb_memset_altsetting_alloc_02.patch

Well, it almost helped. The system is now usable, but from time to time
the fonts (especially in firefox) get fuzzy. When I will be able to
capture I'll post the picture here.

[Bug 580984] Re: Running firefox causes problem with screen refreshing

2010-05-21 Thread Pawel Kot
I've went through some information from:

 http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI
 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15626
 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14801

and kernel parameter

 pci=nomsi

does not help but kernel parameter

 radeon.modeset=0

does help. So it looks like KMS does not work well with my card.

Oh, and there are still some problems with saving the recurrence to the
phone. But it definitely works better now.

Did you build gnokii with libical support? That's indicated in the
summary after autogen.sh/configure run.

Please check current gnokii git version. I've added support for
recurrence in ics files. I gave only limited testing though.

It happens also with gwibber shipped with Karmic. However it does not
happen every time. I triggered it three times in the row and now it
looks okay.

[Bug 431233] Re: gnokii 0.6.28.1 does't compile

2009-09-23 Thread Pawel Kot
I need in fact gnokii debug log. That is probably the part that was printed
before the output you provided. It will give me the clue where something goes
wrong. This glibc dump is black magic for me.
For SMSD problem -- the same story.
