[Bug 991059]

2012-05-10 Thread Raphael Frey
(In reply to comment #4)
Raphael Frey, here is the problem with trying to correctly triage this bug:

 1) Your downstream bug is completely different then this upstream one. In the
downstream, you are requesting the ability to resize the window (ENHANCEMENT),
and noting you are having a UI bug in Linux.

 2) Here you include all that, plus a similar but potentially different UI
 problem on the Mac platform.

 3) All totaled, you have at least 1 bug and an ENHANCEMENT.

Please re-file this bug, one for the ENHANCEMENT, one for the problem on
 Linux,
and one for the problem on Mac. Thank you for your understanding in this.

Okay, I see the problem and I'm very sorry for causing this confusion
... Let me just explain the situation briefly: I remarked the problem
using LibreOffice in Ubuntu and I thought the problem comes from the
options window which is not resizable. (There were similar problems with
other programmes in Ubuntu in the past, with options/settings windows
which were too small and not resizable). Then I noticed the same problem
using LibreOffice on my MacBook. As you might know, settings windows on
Mac OS X usually aren't resizable. So I thought the problems on my
Ubuntu and Lion system were the same and therefore I reported the bug
here (only once).

To sum up, this bug report only concerns the bug itself (i.e.: too small
select lists in Language Settings Writing Aids). I don't know how the
bug can be solved (resizable options window could be one possible
solution, but I think larger select lists may be the better solution).
Therefore this bug report is really a bug report and not an enhancement
request. I'll adjust the bug title and description on Launchpad (Ubuntu)
if possible, because it is misleading and differs from this bug request.

[Bug 923011] [NEW] CD import 'year' tag problem

2012-01-28 Thread Raphael Frey
Public bug reported:

Importing an audio CD to MP3 shows following problems with the ID3
'year' tag:

- If Banshee can't get album information from Internet and you set the 'year'
tag manually, Banshee doesn't save the 'year' as ID3 tag. When opening the
files with EasyTag (or any other tagging software) , the 'year' tag is empty,
although visible in Banshee.
- If Banshee get album information from Internet, but the year is wrong (for
classical music I use the recording date as 'year', not the album release date)
and you change it manually, Banshee saves the wrong year as ID3 tag but shows
the correct date (see attachment)!!

could try to fix this bug (unfortunately I'm not able to do so) because
due to this bug I cannot use Evince/Okular to print sheet music created

Sorry for mixing up package names. Of course the bug cannot be in
‘gnome-panel’ because I cannot use the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl] + [Alt]
+ [→] either. As I do not use Compiz, the bug seems to be in package
‘metacity’ resp. in its the default settings. If you use Compiz but want
to reproduce this bug, you have to replace the window manager by either
typing ‘metacity --replace ’ in a console or by turning off desktop
effects under ‘System → Settings → Appearance → desktop effects’.

[Bug 560090] [NEW] ‘Detect keyboard layo ut’ option not working 100% correctly

2010-04-10 Thread Raphael Frey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

It’s no serious bug but still a bit annoying – the ‘detect keyboard
layout’ option in ubiquity present on the Live CD of Ubuntu 10.04 beta 2
doesn’t work 100% correctly: I’ve got a Swiss-French keyboard layout
(please see [1] for the difference between Swiss-German and Swiss-French
keyboard layouts). The suggested keyboard layout in ubiquity (step 3 of
7) is ‘France - Autre’. Because this is not the right layout, I’ve
chosen ‘Détecter la disposition du clavier’ (detect keyboard layout).
There I’ve typed following keys:

u, w, z (on an US keyboard: u, w, y)

Then I was asked if the letter ‘ö’ is present on my keyboard. I pressed
‘oui’ (yes) because it is. Now I had to type this letter which I can
reach with [⇧] + [é] ([shift] + [é], on US keyboard [⇧] + [:] I think).
Finally I was asked if the letter ‘é’ is present on my keyboard. It is,
so I pressed ‘oui’ again. The programme now showed me that it has chosen
the ‘Suisse’ (Swiss) keyboard layout. As I remarked while testing the
keyboard in the box below, the detected layout is the Swiss-German
layout and not the Swiss-French keyboard! So I had to correct this
mistake manually.

In addition it is a bit strange that ‘Suisse’ refers to the Swiss-German
layout while the Swiss-French layout is called ‘Suisse - Français’
(Swiss-French). It would be more obvious if the option ‘Suisse’ (Swiss)
would be called ‘Suisse - German’ (Swiss-German).

the ‘Suisse’ (Switzerland) keyboard layout. As I remarked while testing
the keyboard in the box below, the detected layout is the Swiss-German
- layout and not the Swiss-French keyboard. So I had to correct this
+ layout and not the Swiss-French keyboard!

** Description changed:

- the ‘Suisse’ (Switzerland) keyboard layout. As I remarked while testing
- the keyboard in the box below, the detected layout is the Swiss-German
+ the ‘Suisse’ (Swiss) keyboard layout. As I remarked while testing the
+ keyboard in the box below, the detected layout is the Swiss-German
layout and not the Swiss-French keyboard! So I had to correct this
  mistake manually.

In addition it is a bit strange that ‘Suisse’ refers to the Swiss-German
layout while the Swiss-French layout is called ‘Suisse - Français’

[Bug 560096] [NEW] Just one workspace is useless

2010-04-10 Thread Raphael Frey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

In Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 there is only one active workspace. I think this
is a bug because if you really intended to activate only one virtual
desktop (workspace) the workspace switcher is useless and can be removed
from the panel.

[Bug 550255] [NEW] SIFT algorithm is patented in US

2010-03-28 Thread Raphael Frey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: autopano-sift

Please remove ‘autopano-sift’ from the ‘universe’ repository (and move
it to Medibuntu if possible). The scale-invariant feature transform
(SIFT) algorithm used by ‘autopano-sift’ is patented in United States
(see [1] and [2]) by the University of British Columbia and therefore
cannot be freely used there.
