2016-05-23 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
I have been running linux-image-4.6.0-040600rc6-generic for two weeks
now. And have not experienced a GPU hang since.

[Bug 1553882] Re: GPU hangs after resume from suspend

2016-03-16 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Ah, of course, I have to install the corresponding headers too, so that
DKMS module gets built. Now I'll run daily on the latest kernel, that
will increase the testability.

Additional symptom to the bug report. Sometimes instead of freezeing,
GPU accelerated windows get kinda disturbed - flickering and artefacts
on screen.

[Bug 1553882] Re: GPU hangs after resume from suspend

2016-03-09 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
I'll try.
Problem is that it's not happening every time. If I suspend and resume a moment
later, it usually still works.
And I cannot just run on the newest kernel all the time, because it's my main
work machine and I need Virtualbox guests to work.
Stand by :)

[Bug 1545238] Re: Gpu Hang After Resume From Hibernate State With 4.4 and 4.5-rc4

2016-03-06 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
I have very similar symptoms on Xenial, currently Linux 4.4.0-10-generic.
Graphics hardware acceleration doesn't work after resume from suspend.
Chrome window does not respond, is not redrawn. glxgears and games do not
launch.

I have it on Dell Latitude E5520 with Intel HD Graphics 3000.

in dmesg I found a line:
[22663.178783] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed [i915]] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer
elapsed... blitter ring idle

And then this follows. It's repeated several times in the dmesg output.

[Bug 1380480] [NEW] network disabled after suspend - resume

2014-10-13 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

Background:
this started to happen after the upgrade to Utopic Beta 1

3) When I close the laptop's lid and open, the wifi should reconnect
4) Wifi does not reconnect. It says Wi-Fi networks - disconnected when I
left-click on NM icon in notif area. However the context menu (right-click) has
items Enable networking and Enable Wi-Fi both with checkmarks.

Workarounds:
switch off - on the physical switch on laptop OR two times go and select
Enable networking in the NM context menu (after first time it removes
checkmark and the Enable Wi-Fi item - visual feedback of being disabled).

[Bug 1375819] [NEW] gnome-font-viewer freezes up itself or the X session

2014-09-30 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

4) What happened instead
When I open gnome-font-viewer by clicking on font file (tried on TTF and PFB)
it sometimes locks up. Then nothing can be done within the window, but the rest
of X session works. However sometimes the whole X session freezes, only mouse
cursor moves. It can be worked around by switching to tty1 and killall'ing

[Bug 1307717] Re: multiple problems with new chromium-browser

2014-05-02 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
many of the issues and some others also have affected me in version 34.
 - Address bar font is HUGE, cant be changed with Xfce DPI settings anymore
 - Horizontal scroll does not work
 - Every other file download randomly crashes chromium

As this is really a meta-bugreport - If You know, please point me to
specific bug reports, so I can track there.

I found this page with all the builds
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-chromium-builds/+archive/stage/+builds?build_text=build_state=built

and from that list here is last (AFAICT) amd64 build with version 33 for
trusty/14.04

As Heikki and James mention, replacing light-locker helps. In my case I
removed light-locker light-locker-settings packages and installed gnome-
screensaver package. gnome-screensaver locker looks much nicer than
xscreensaver IMHO.

[Bug 1309984] [NEW] Middle-click mutes more channels than unmutes

2014-04-19 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

Xubuntu 14.04 amd64 upgraded from 13.10 (but the issue was also in
previous releases)

1:4.10.0-1ubuntu2

I'm using Notification area instead of Indicators and I have Audio Mixer
plugin in the Xfce panel

1) Open xfce4-mixer, have Master, Headphone and PCM channels visible and not
muted
2) Middle click on the Audio Mixer plugin in the Xfce panel
3) Observe that not only Master is muted, but also Headphone and PCM get muted
4) Middle click again
5) Observe that Master is unmuted, but Headphone and PCM stay muted

[Bug 1259339] Re: Xfce4 Power Manager does not restore screen power

2014-04-19 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
This bug should really have higher importance. Both laptops that I have
upgraded to 14.04 have this bug, can't vote twice though :)

Are you sure it's the fault of xfce4-power-manager?
When I use gnome-screensaver instead of light-locker (still using
xfce4-power-manager), all is fine.

When using light-locker:
 - I lock the screen (also but not only after suspend-resume)
 - Wake the display
 - Light locker appears, fill password, confirm
 - Display turns off
 - Blindly run xrandr --auto
 - Display turns on

[Bug 1309369] [NEW] Filtered list rendered incorrectly after refresh

2014-04-18 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

Xubuntu 14.04 amd64 upgraded from 13.10

synaptic 0.81.1

1) Open Synaptic
2) (with apt-xapian-index) Search for something in Quick filter
3) Choose a package and mark it for changed status
4) List refreshes and item count is the same but these are phantom items from
the top of this same listing, but as if it was not filtered
5) Move cursor over the list and the real items are revealed

 - Intel Graphics card
 - Bug reproducible both when Xfwm compositing is enabled and disabled

[Bug 1289992] Re: blueman-applet crashed with Exception in start_server(): Configured share directory /home/username/Publiczny does not exist

2014-04-09 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Same here after upgrading from 13.10 to 14.04. I'm quite sure I did use
Blueman during these ~6 months, with no problems.

Path in my report title was
/home/username/Public
NOTE: username not replaced here. That is what the actual error says.

Then when I go to Local Services - Transfer, the Shared Folder is set to
(None).

[Bug 999875] Re: My camera stopped showing video feed since about two weeks ago

2014-02-20 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14-rc3-trusty/ has only
i386 packages and although directory name says v3.14-rc3, inside there
are only packages with 3.13 ... rc3 in their file names(?? :().
Anyway, I tried :) but got only blinking CapsLock. Then I searched and
found out that one can not run 64 software on 32 kernel :)

Then with high hopes tried amd64 packages from v3.14-rc2-trusty, but
they also gave me blinking CapsLock :(

Then I tried v3.14-rc2-trusty packages with my Trusty test installation,
kernel worked but still no video.
Just realized that my original report is missing one detail - usually image
appears for fraction of second, when opening video and then blanks out.

[Bug 999875] Re: My camera stopped showing video feed since about two weeks ago

2014-02-17 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
It took me lot's of hours over many weekends to finally upgrade BIOS.
Dell is really trying to make it hard for us. None of the procedures in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DellBIOS worked.

My BIOS' version A14. But unfortunately it has not solved my problem.
The video feed is still black the same way.

My main installatiion is now 13.10 and I have alos tested 14.04 dailies.
Same issue.

[Bug 999875] Re: My camera stopped showing video feed since about two weeks ago

2013-03-25 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
dmesg seems to have a lot of private things in it. What should I look for?
For now I found these lines:
[ 14.390031] Linux video capture interface: v2.00
[ 14.633504] uvcvideo: Found UVC 1.00 device Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_FHD
(05ca:181e)
[ 14.635082] input: Laptop_Integrated_Webcam_FHD as
/devices/pci:00/:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.4/1-1.4:1.0/input/input17
[ 14.635149] usbcore: registered new interface driver uvcvideo
[ 14.635151] USB Video Class driver (1.1.1)

I tried qv4l2 now. Clicked File - Open Raw Device - chose /dev/video0 -
switched on Show frames and hit the red record button, but still the same
results as described above.

[Bug 1025236] [NEW] cannot pan (drag around) image

2012-07-16 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Release:12.04

$ apt-cache policy gpicview
gpicview:
  Installed: 0.2.2-1ubuntu1

 *** 0.2.2-1ubuntu1 0

3) When I grab and drag an image, it tries to drag along, but jumps back to
0,0 still hiding right and/or bottom part of the image. However scrollbars show
as if I had actually dragged the image.

4) When dragging image, appropriate parts of image should reveal.

[Bug 999875] [NEW] My camera stopped showing video feed since about two weeks ago

2012-05-15 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Public bug reported:

1) Kubuntu 12.04 amd64
2) v4l-utils: Installed: 0.8.6-1ubuntu1
3) It was working fine all the time on 11.10 and Precise Beta. And I believe it
was still working after final release, but I'm not 100% sure.
4) The returned video is just black and a bit of faint colored circle in the
middle

It's built in webcam of Dell Latitude E5520
In lsusb, I think, it shows as Bus 001 Device 003: ID 05ca:181e Ricoh Co., Ltd

BTW I think it's fixed in 2.1. I had a PPA before upgrade and I remember
that then also vlc versions 2.0 = x 2.1 behaved the same way. With
this I hope 2.1 versio will be included in Xubuntu 12.04 final release.

Package `skype' is not installed.

i checked the file

[Bug 568453] Re: [lucid] Ubuntuone-syncdaemon using enormous amounts of ram

2011-07-04 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
I have a situations very much the same in Natty. I am on Lubuntu 64 bit.
First time installed ubuntuone. Found out that I have no way to add folders
from Ubuntu One Control Panel(!?). Was forced to install Nautilus. Marked some
.folders to backup configuration (one after previous is synced, because sooner
it wouldn't respond to marking in nautilus context menu). Went to sleep.

In the morning my computer was almost completely irresponsive, because all the
free ram was eaten by syncdaemon:
roodis@rootnis:~$ ps auxw|grep ubuntuone
roodis4737 0.0 0.0 88572 1060 pts/1S+ 10:10 0:00 grep
--color=auto ubuntuone
roodis 13738 0.6 32.1 1071552 660168 ? Sl Jul03 4:40
/usr/bin/python /usr/lib/ubuntuone-client/ubuntuone-syncdaemon
As it reads - over 600 MiB - 32% of RAM

Closed some programs, started to look around how to report this bug. An
hour later, now, that it has more free RAM, it has reached 740 MiB.

[Bug 622238] Re: blank screen on resume from suspend

2011-04-26 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
Fixed for me in latest Natty, but only with Nvidia binary drivers. With Nouveau
still blank after resume. Although I can change LCD's brightness in that state,
so display is switched on at least partially, so I guess it's something to do
with video signal not being delivered from card to display.
Should this be reported elsewhere?

[Bug 750209] Re: btrfs does a full partition check on each boot

2011-04-15 Thread Reinis Zumbergs
only after reading the referred bug #660649 bug I understood that i can bypass
the 2 min fsck just by removing symlink. I did it and it worked! fsck now
complains about missing fsck.btrfs but that's ok.
Joke, You could get rid of those 20 min, too. Just do:
sudo mv /sbin/fsck.btrfs /sbin/_fsck.btrfs

About bug - all subsequent updates have worked and this problem have not
occurred. Marking this as Invalid as asked.
