[Bug 1886677] Re: bootp replies go missing
** Description changed: I set up a bridge (linux bridge, also tried ovs bridge), with two taps. Two qemu vms, one using each tap, using virtio or e1000. Ran one as dnsmasq+pxe server, the other '-boot n'. Watching traffic on the bridge and each tap device, i could verify that boots replied to bootc requests, and the booting vm's tap did receive that reply. But it would just keep re-issuing its bootc request. When I build ipxe from git and install the result, it works. - This was happening with 19.04. [Bug 1679765] Re: cannot lock password for user created with useradd --extrausers
Extrausers is a concept introduced by the libnss-extrausers package. shadow and passwd simply know nothing about it. It simply is not a bug in the shadow package. It's a wholly un- implemented feature. It's not clear to me how this would function - after all these are supposed to be accounts 'copied from other systems' according to the package. And I'm not clear on how these would relate to ldap, for instance. So if you are interested in using passwd or usermod for these, I would recommend opening a discussion at either (or both) github.com/shadow- maint/shadow/issues, or probably better at the libnss-extrausers package. ** Changed in: shadow (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1679765 Title: cannot lock password for user created with useradd --extrausers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shadow/+bug/1679765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1817496] Re: Login always shows partitions to be fsck-ed, even after reboot.
You should be able to manually do fsck /dev/sda5 If the filesystem on sda5 is listed in /etc/fstab, then sixth fstab field for that filesystem should be '2'. If it is 0, then indeed it won't be fsck'd on reboot. fstab is owned by util-linux, but system bringup belongs to systemd, so I'm assigning this to the systemd package. However I suspect fstab lists '0' for the sixth field, and the system is doing what it is told. ** Package changed: shadow (Ubuntu) => systemd (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1817496 Title: Login always shows partitions to be fsck-ed, even after reboot. [Bug 776818] Re: [MIR] vde2
It's very hard, and it should be. I'm not on the security team, but I suspect they'd be more inspired to "just take another look" if someone went through Seth's feedback in comment #18 and for each item (plus each bug that he lists) say whether you believe it is fixed. For instance he lists bug 1119984. Is it solved, or can it be ignored if we go with @mterry's suggestion since it's not in the library part? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/776818 Title: [MIR] vde2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/vde2/+bug/776818/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1743718] Re: libvirt-daemon-system package runs dnsmasq as root
So - the two processes, one as root, one as unpriv, is expected. The use of 'nobody' is a bug in the libvirt packaging, or a misconfiguration on your system (in which case we should figure out what happened). @apricultor - that does look wrong. On my system (xenial) the libvirt dnsmasq is running as libvirt-dnsmasq user. This sounds acceptable to me. Issues or (even better) PRs against github.com/shadow-maint/shadow would be great :) Indeed the default should be the more permissible.
