[Bug 599149] Re: [945GM] Xorg freeze
Hi, I installed the xorg-edgers ppa and the 2.6.35-rc3 kernel from the link you provided. Unfortunately, I can't troubleshoot the initial bug as now the screen just flashes a square white/grey box (looks like 4:3 on my 16:10 monitor). Switching to vt1 gives a black screen. I can still log in via ssh, so not all is lost. I can confirm this is still an issue in Lucid. I would also like to reiterate that empathy itself is not started, just the telapathy/mission-control-5 back-end, contrary to Omer's edit of the title. [Bug 516887] [NEW] bcm4312 not properly handled by jockey
Public bug reported: Upon upgrade to lucid, wireless for my bcm4312 no longer works. While there are probably some workarounds, people with this chipset (i.e. Dell Mini 10v) should have a seamless upgrade experience. This means: it still just works after upgrade. If this is not possible, jockey should popup (as it does for other things) to suggest the installation of the appropriate firmware/driver/whatever. Clicking on the Activate button then installs the correct drivers, prompting the user to connect to the internet through other means if they are not connected. I tried launching jockey myself but it just said the activation failed and pointed me to a log file /var/log/jockey.log : 2010-02-03 21:47:21,538 WARNING: modinfo for module wl failed: ERROR: modinfo: could not find module wl 2010-02-03 21:47:21,540 WARNING: /sys/module/wl/drivers does not exist, cannot rebind wl driver 2010-02-03 21:47:21,617 DEBUG: BroadcomWLHandler enabled(): kmod disabled, bcm43xx: blacklisted, b43: blacklisted, b43legacy: blacklisted Clearly this is not an optimal experience. [Bug 362920] Re: [Dell Computer Corporation Latitude D600] suspend/resume failure
Apparently I spoke too soon: I'm still getting the resume failure with the latest updates of Karmic. I haven't had a chance to test the mainline kernel yet, but here is the answers to the Suspend/Resume questions listed above: Did the machine break while going to sleep or waking up? - Machine sleeps perfectly. When waking up from sleep (by lifting the laptop lid) it resumes in the normal way except I am presented with a black (or blank, not sure) screen and an unresponsive system. Only hard-powering off works (ie re-sleeping, vterms, etc don't work) Is it reproducible? - I'd say 1-2 out of every 10. Symptoms are identical each time. Did it work before? - I think it's always been like this. Do you end up with flashing caps-lock or similar?/ - No, the machine looks just like it woke up correctly, except it's completely unresponsive. Hopefully this helps. If I get a chance to try the mainline kernel I'll update the bug. -Stuart -- [Dell Computer Corporation Latitude D600] suspend/resume failure https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/362920 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 362920] Re: [Dell Computer Corporation Latitude D600] suspend/resume failure
Hi Andres, I have tested the latest alpha of Karmic, the problem does not appear to still exist (although it was intermittent to begin with). Hi, thanks for the quick response. Here is the information: Model/make: Dell Bluetooth keyboard/mouse with Bluetooth adaptor. Despite the Bluetooth connection, it operates in a USB keyboard/mouse emulation mode as far as I know. [Bug 287303] Re: install or LiveCD fail because of bluetooth KB/Mouse
I've been having a possibly related issue with the same keyboard/mouse combo. Have you tried unplugging the dongle and then plugging it back in? While awkward, this works for me. I can't figure out why this is happening, but I think it has to do with whether the dongle is in Bluetooth adaptor mode or (as you call it) 'legacy' mode. I think plugging it back in after boot triggers this legacy mode, as it doesn't show up under the bluetooth menu. This is actually the desired behaviour for me, since I triple-boot the system and re-pairing bluetooth every boot is not a fun time. dmesg seems to agree, as the dongle seems to show up as a USB hub with a keyboard and a mouse attached (see attached). -Stuart ** Attachment added: dmesg http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23207703/dmesg -- install or LiveCD fail because of bluetooth KB/Mouse https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/287303 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 232219] Re: Second evince window does not focus when launched
Aha! In trying to repeat the bug I discovered a condition. It only seems to occur if a pdf is already open in another workspace. I didn't notice this before because I always have a pdf or two open for reference in another workspace. So: Open a pdf file. In Firefox _in another workspace_: Click download link to pdf file, select open pdf from popup menu, pdf pops up and is readable but does not grab focus (light window bar). Hope that helps! [Bug 197819] Re: [Hardy]b43-fwcutter install script fails to fetch firmware in first run
Hey folks, I think there's two separate problems here: 1. The restricted drivers program installs the fwcutter in such a way that it doesn't offer to download the firmware, while installing the same package via synaptic does. This is obviously confusing for new users, but can be solved by simply completely removing the b43-fwcutter package and reinstalling it via synaptic. 2. There is an outstanding bug in network-manager which causes it to crash after asking for a wireless passphrase. This bug is solved by the debdiff posted in Bug #204868, but hasn't been applied to the network- manager package in the repositories yet.
