[Bug 976632] Re: nfs4 mounts are not mapping userids, uses nobody/nogroup
I have seen the same problem on a recent upgrade of a client from 10.04 to 12.04. The server is still running 10.04 at this stage. To get the right ownership showing on the client I had to uncomment the 'Domain = localdomain' line as suggested. The interesting bit is that another client which has just had 12.04 installed as a new installation works correctly with teh same server out of the box with the 'Domain = localhost' line commented out. Perhaps there is some other configuration file that should be changed on upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04. [Bug 1026395] Re: vpnc fails with get_secrets: assertion `secrets_idx SECRETS_REQ_LAST' failed
The behaviour I am seeing with the OpenVPN plugin is a little different, but still gives the same result. The private key password does not seem to be displayed in the VPN edit window. I had assumed that this was a security feature, but perhaps it is not being saved? Anyway despite attempting to save the password several times it does not show up in the window when the VPN is reopened for editing I don't get asked for the password when trying to connect and I still get the same error get_secrets: assertion `secrets_idx SECRETS_REQ_LAST failed when trying to connect. [Bug 934707] Re: emachine e725 boots to valid display with no backlight
Seth sorry for the long time to reply, I had given up on this bug and do not check my email often. Can you specify exactly the last release or kernel version you used that worked properly? Thanks! Can you specify exactly the last release or kernel version you used that worked properly? Thanks! I cannot say exactly but it was around June 2011. I did not report a bug because I was hoping some updated would fix it. 1. What's the output of 'cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/device/firmware_node/path'? Does it change based on whether or not you pass acpi_osi=Linux? terry@terry-eMachines-E725:~$ cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/device/firmware_node/path \_SB_.PCI0.OVGA (I am now using acpi_osi= with a space after the =) 2. Does the acpi_video0 backlight work when you pass acpi_osi=Linux? Yes, but I have to use the brightness adjustment otherwise it is a black screen. The brightness keys are reversed ( Fn+Dim makes brighter) 3. Did the function keys work to adjust the brightness in older Ubuntu versions? Can't say for sure as I never needed to adjust. I'm suspecting that several things are broken about the backlight implementation in the bios on this machine that are worked around using a special driver in Windows. [Bug 978622] [NEW] every app becomes unresponsive when nautilus is copying files
Public bug reported: When copying a large amount of data from one folder to another folder on the same partition it is causing all other applications to become unresponsive, most noticably Firefox 11.0. Amount of data be copied (79GB) at a rate of between 18-30MBps, using the simple procedure of right clicking a folder, selecting copy and pasting it into another folder. During the copying process all other applications hang, or take a good 3-5 minutes to open up. Once open they become unresponsive - - all is rectified once the copy process is complete. [Bug 934707] Re: emachine e725 boots to black screen
Canonical Kernel Team Archive for June, 2011 Brad Figg Kernel Team Meeting Minutes Status: General Oneiric We’ve almost resolved all the issues from the v3.0 fallout. We’re just wrestling with module-init-tools to get depmod sorted out. We’ve rebased to v3.0-rc2 and pushed to master-next. With v3.0-rc2, there’s an issue on boot (black screen of death) when the i915 driver is loaded. This can be worked around using i915.modeset=0 at the moment. There’s also reported boot issues on some system’s with atom processors on at least v3.0-rc1. So, I’m a bit hesitant to upload at the moment knowing we’ll break some common hardware use cases. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/934707 Title: emachine e725 boots to black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/934707/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 617190] [NEW] Lucid kernel 2.6.32-24-generic causes crash on creation of logical volume
Public bug reported: Following a recent upgrade of Ubuntu server Lucid to 2.6.32-24 my normal daily backup script crashes the system when it tries to create a new logical volume to use as a snapshot. The normal logical volume created message does not appear and the script hangs. While the system seems to respond to pings and TCP opens, the server processes ( apache, postfix, samba, webmin) do not respond. SSH and the serial console accept the login but don't prompt for the password. System does not respond to power switch either so the only way to restart it is to do a hard power off. Symptoms have been repeated by running the backup script manually from both console and ssh logins as well. Syslog output at the time of the backup was as follows: Aug 13 00:05:01 zaphod CRON[2620]: (root) CMD (~tjon/bin/newbackup #Daily backup script) Aug 13 00:05:01 zaphod kernel: [55215.128950] RPC: Registered udp transport module.
