[Bug 519773] Re: Files not uploading

2010-02-12 Thread TheAlteredState
I've tried the other way around, also didn't work.

But after reading the following on your Twitter file syncing has been
very slow for the last day. we'll be rolling out a fix in a few minutes
that should get speed back to normal.

I rebooted and edited the document again, seems to have taken now. Also the
files I created online were pushed down.
So, no more problems :)

[Bug 310545] Re: SIOCADDRT: No such process error when adding static IP information

2008-12-25 Thread TheAlteredState
The addresses are irrelevant.

My point is that it won't let me add static anything. Only after I removed the
dhcp3-client could I add anything.
Otherwise, all settings were lost after reboot.

[Bug 291897] Re: Only can get a command prompt after installing Nvidia 177.80 drivers

2008-12-22 Thread TheAlteredState
This problem does still exist. I've even updated all my software
packages first to ensure I have the latest software.

This thread describes everything quite nicely:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=965180

But basically, if you enable the nvidia drives from the restricted
drivers icon, after the reboot the xserver fails to start with a similar
error: no devices detected and no screens found

I have 2x nVidia 9600GT's in SLI.
I would have liked to use EnvyNG but it seems to also be having problems in
8.10 :-P

[Bug 291897] Re: Only can get a command prompt after installing Nvidia 177.80 drivers

2008-12-22 Thread TheAlteredState
I seem to have come right... but at a cost

I used the solution mentioned in the forum I mentioned above:

System-Administration-Hardware Drivers
- Activate the 177.80 drivers
- DO NOT RESTART YET

Open a terminal and enter the following

Code:

sudo lspci | grep VGA

The output will be something like the following;

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7600 GT]
(rev a1)
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation G70 [GeForce 7600 GT]
(rev a1)

Take note of the number at the start. This is the BusID. In this example
it's 01:00:0

Then in terminal type

Code:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Add or edit the Device section, putting your Busid that you noted
earlier in.

However, this still gave the same error... I then edited xorg.conf and
set the secondary adapter as the primary one and the xserver started!!!
But SLI was disabled.

I then changed xrog.conf back to the first device and I booted with
another screen plugged into the other card (so now I have 2 screens,
although it doesn't detect the second one for some reason). I can now
get into the gui and SLI works!! :-)

Only shlep is I need to use a spare screen to boot my pc every time :-/

[Bug 255246] Re: Black Screen after boot

2008-08-07 Thread TheAlteredState
Alrighty Jim, so I did what you said, seems to load all the modules
fine, then go into a blank screen again...

I have tried it in Graphics Safe Mode which seems to work fine... you
think I should look at what module was the last to be loaded perhaps?
