[Bug 654493] Re: infinit loop with openssl s_client -connect xmpp-gmx.gmx.net:5222 -starttls xmpp

2012-03-27 Thread andi5
Indeed, s_client seems to support only poor man's xmpp.
You can still use it if you temporarily rewrite gmx.de (or any xmpp-gmx.gmx.net
hosted domain) to the ip address of xmpp-gmx.gmx.net in /etc/hosts and use
-connect gmx.net:5222.

(1) openssl does not detect the error situation at all and ends in an endless
loop loop.
(2) it should use -servername as to attribute of the stream if tls extensions
are enabled.

You could try to run gnucash with strace, i.e. edit the last line of

[Bug 184607] Re: pkgconfig file says Requires glib instead of glib-2.0

2008-01-20 Thread andi5
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gconf

  Version: 2.21.1-0ubuntu1
  File /usr/lib/pkgconfig/gconf-2.0.pc contains the line
  Requires: glib
  instead of
  Requires: glib-2.0

  So `pkg-config --cflags gconf-2.0` returns -DORBIT2=1 -pthread
- -I/usr/include/gconf/2 -I/usr/include/orbit-2.0 -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
+ -I/usr/include/gconf/2 -I/usr/include/orbit-2.0 -I/usr/include/glib-1.2
+ -I/usr/lib/glib/include -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
  -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include with glib1 remnants.

A fix has been committed upstream at
  http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/gconf?view=revisionrevision=2506 and will
probably be contained in the next release 2.21.2.

This breaks compiling of at least gnucash (bug 184176) as well.

[Bug 92477] Re: Gnucash uninstallable due to dependency on libgtkhtml3.8-15 (=3.13.6)

2007-04-06 Thread andi5
I am sorry for reopening, but: gtkhtml3.8 3.13.6-0ubuntu1 seems to be crappy.
I will give you a few pointers and let you decide what to do.
Maybe 3.13.5 will work, I do not know...

gnucash crash when printing

http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gtkhtml/tags/
crashes, no GTKHTML_3_13_6 tag anyway, so I will use r8356, which is probably
the one used for the release

http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gtkhtml/trunk/NEWS?view=markuppathrev=8356
internally, 3.13.6 seems to be 3.13.90 already.

http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gtkhtml/trunk/src/htmlengine-print.c?view=markuppathrev=8356
html_engine_print takes a GtkPrintContext*

http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gtkhtml/trunk/src/gtkhtml.c?view=markuppathrev=8356

[Bug 92477] Re: Gnucash uninstallable due to dependency on libgtkhtml3.8-15 (=3.13.6)

2007-03-23 Thread andi5
GnuCash builds perfectly against gtkhtml-3.8. It is a ubuntu packaging bug to
use gtkhtml development releases leading to 3.14 and mark them as 3.8. Why
that?
GnuCash 2.0.x will probably never work with gtkhtml 3.14 or some other version
lacking gtk_html_print. Please consider downgrading gtkhtml to 3.12.x.

[Bug 68339] Re: Gnucash can't read (or write ?) its own files

2006-11-12 Thread andi5
From my point of view, all directories ~/.${app}, like ~/.gnucash,
belong to the application. Yes, they are owned by the user in the unix
sense, but you are not supposed to work there unless somebody tells you
to do that. So I think this is notabug (rejected).

[Bug 57837] Re: Gnucash hangs when changing directories

2006-09-02 Thread andi5
Thank you! I cannot see it though ;-(
But, if you find a function from libgncmod-gnome-utils.so.0 (like
_gtk_tree_data_list_header_free) near the top, called by a function of
libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0 (like gtk_tree_model_filter_convert_child_iter_to_iter),
then you can close this bug as duplicate yourself =)

[Bug 57837] Re: Gnucash hangs when changing directories

2006-09-01 Thread andi5
See http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Stack_Trace
If it still hangs and does not crash, i.e. gdb does not print its prompt,
interrupt gdb by Ctrl-C and enter bt then.

What is this bug report good for? Ubuntu Edgy has GnuCash 2.0 included
and the Dapper package will not be updated (imho) :-)

[Bug 54820] Re: Finance::Quote support requires libcrypt-ssleay-perl, but gnucash doesn't require it.

2006-08-20 Thread andi5
Seems to be a bug in the Crypt::SSLeay CPAN package that is fixed in
debian/ubuntu packages. See
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/general/perl-modules.html
http://librarian.launchpad.net/1407790/crypt-ssleay_0.51-5.diff.gz

It is definitely no bug in the gnucash package :)

[Bug 54820] Re: Finance::Quote support requires libcrypt-ssleay-perl, but gnucash doesn't require it.

2006-08-20 Thread andi5
OK, I will stop rejecting bugs ;-)

I assumed you did what gnc-fq-check told you, namely run gnc-fq-update
as root. If you do this, you will see that Crypt::SSLeay is not
installed, since there is indeed a bug in the CPAN package.

So now i suppose (hopefully correctly) that you want gnucash to depend
on libcrypt-ssleay-perl. I would rather propose to make libfinance-
quote-perl to depend on it.

What do you think?

PS: From the release notes of FQ 1.12:
* Makefile.PL: State the dependency on Crypt::SSLeay that several modules now
have.

[Bug 55462] Re: Gnucash crash

2006-08-19 Thread andi5
I see this crash with the stock packages, but in none of my self-
compiled installations. Could the packager try to remove the four lines
containing gnctreemodelsort and gtktreedatalist from src/gnome-
utils/Makefile.am and see whether this helps? If it does, we will
probably rename gtktreedatalist (as there seems to be some linking
conflict with gtk) upstream.

[Bug 45533] Re: gnucash translations are missing

2006-07-03 Thread andi5
Indeed. I do not know where it comes from, but debian/rules unlinks po/*.gmo,
but leaves po/stamp-po in its clean target. So the *.gmo's do not get
recreated.
Please either remove stamp-po too or do not remove these files. I think dapper
needs a translated gnucash.

[Bug 51008] update-grub ignores empty defoptions

2006-06-26 Thread andi5
Public bug reported:

The following lines may be part of /boot/grub/menu.lst. Then run update-
grub.

Observed:
[# defoptions=quiet splash] - append quiet splash to every default kernel
line
[# defoptions=] - append quiet splash to every default kernel line
[# defoptions= ] - do not append anything, but write [# defoptions=] to file

Expected:
update-grub should treat defoptions= as what it is, the definition of
defoptions as empty string. Setting defoptions to (a space) fixes the
problem once, but as the defoptions line is rewritten without space, only once.

I observed this while trying to remove quiet splash once and for all.

[Bug 50824] Re: Keeps dying on grub-install attempt

2006-06-24 Thread andi5
I think I have seen the same: the installer repeatedly crashes at 95% :(

One question: What file system is /boot on? I was able to install dapper
finally, after having realized that maybe there was just an unfetched
warning about grub having problems with xfs file systems.

If you have the same problem: Make a small /boot partition with an ext
file system.
