[Bug 964301] Re: [USB-Audio - Logitech G35 Headset, playback] Not swapping between headphones and speakers

2013-01-10 Thread atomic-penguin
This also affects me. This seems to be a Jack Sense bug for this
model of USB headset. I have run the ALSA Information script v0.4.61
against my Logitech G35 USB headset, and the output may be found here:

[Bug 964301] Re: [USB-Audio - Logitech G35 Headset, playback] Not swapping between headphones and speakers

2013-01-10 Thread atomic-penguin
Supposedly it does support 7.1, it doesn't just work out of the box on
Linux that way. I have mine set up for Stereo output / Mono Input. It
is not necessarily important that it supports 7.1 for my own purposes
either. Because frankly very few, if any, applications I use regularly
support 7.1 output right now.

[Bug 520386] Re: libvirt-bin hypervisor does not support virConnectNumOfInterfaces / unable to create domain with virt-manager using network bridge

2010-06-11 Thread atomic-penguin
This was a bit of a surprise that core functionality is missing. I
spent a good part of the day trying to figure out why the exact same
bridging setup under CentOS worked, and it didn't on Ubuntu.

Oh, yeah, and +1 for importance. Seriously, bridging is kinda important
in virtualization unless the user wants to NAT every single connection.
That just doesn't seem practical.

[Bug 60079] Re: shopt xsession error upon login

2010-05-03 Thread atomic-penguin
I came across this problem when doing a clean install of Lucid.

I had an existing /home partition which was not formatted. I'm not sure
if the installer overwrote my .bashrc, but I couldn't login to GDM after
the install was finished. I overwrote my .bashrc with the default Lucid
skeleton version of .bashrc to confirm this would happen with a stock
file.

GDM would not let me log in to Gnome, KDE, or XFCE, because of this
error. I wasted a good bit of time thinking that I had screwed
something up, or was missing something critical from the ubuntu-desktop
task. Bug, or not, the problem should be addressed in the default
install.

A co-worker did an in-place upgrade and was not affected by this bug,
however, he still has a previous version of .bashrc in place after his
upgrade.

2009-05-08 Thread atomic-penguin
Hamish,

Your MyPasswordSafe version 0.0.20061216-1ubuntu1~ppa1 works for me on
Ubuntu 8.10 (amd64).

[Bug 85014] Re: Fail to enter rc1.d by putting 1 in bootparam in edgy

quoterandominternet: ask yourself if you really need
runlevels?/quote

There are two basic runlevel controls in the Unix/Linux world, the
System V way, and BSD way. They both have there own pros and cons, and
I am not going to debate them here. The way init scripts and run levels
work is well defined. It is even part of the Linux Standards Base,
which defines how Linux distributions are supposed to work for 3rd party
vendors, application developers, etc. Take a good look at
http://refspecs.linux-foundation.org/LSB_3.2.0/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-
Core-generic/tocsysinit.html and http://refspecs.linux-
foundation.org/LSB_3.2.0/LSB-Core-generic/LSB-Core-
generic/runlevels.html.

If there are no separate runlevels, then standardization has been thrown
out the window.

quoterandominternet: you can easily add a grep /proc/cmdline trigger
into an if statement to control any rc script/quote

The end user shouldn't have to do this. With the BSD way everything
could be thrown into one directory (as opposed to rc1.d, rc2.d, etc.) or
it could be just 1 central rc script. However, there is still a
separation of runlevels and controlling what each runlevel does.

[Bug 199012] [NEW] MyPasswordSafe crashes on file save

File-Save and File-Save As both result in MyPasswordSafe crashing
while trying to save changes to, or a copy of a password safe file.

Output after File-Save:
*** stack smashing detected ***: MyPasswordSafe terminated
Aborted (core dumped)

It seems this is related to gcc-4.1 stack protection. I was able to do
a dpkg-buildpackage against the source package with g++-3.3 and avoid
the core dump, when I used the rebuilt package. I never had this
problem with this package on the x86 architecture. I've only had this
happen with the amd64 arch MyPasswordSafe.
