[Bug 1967329] [NEW] Full screen in Firefox and Ubuntu panel options can't be displayed
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 22.04 and all programs just normally displayed e.g. Firefox in normal view. I can hover to the clock widget or top-right corner network-sound-battery widget and panel widget color gets changed from black to gray color. When clicked on widget pop-up menu appears as expected and any option can be selected. Now when in Firefox playing some video e.g. youtube.com in full screen then when pressing Super key panel is displayed. Moving mouse over to clock or top-right network widget and clock or network panel widget color changes from black to gray as in previous example. But when clicking on clock or network widget and nothing happens. Maybe pop-up is opened bellow Firefox's full screen window, but this is not what I expect. Obviously I would like to have panel widget pop-up menu displayed on top of anything else. For example when in Firefox playing some video in full-screen and I decide to lower the voice in Ubuntu, now I am force to quit Firefox video full screen and lower the Ubuntu panel located voice. I somehow expect this to be simpler, just to never quit full screen and allow me to lower the voice by pressing Super key and then from top-right voice widget allow me to lower the voice. I don't know if this can be classified as bug, but to me it is for sure an usability bug. [Bug 1958665] [NEW] Some apps like Pinta strangly grouped
Public bug reported: I use deb, snap and flatpak packages, that is why I have installed "Software" package to have them all on the same app. 1. Open Software and at the title bar click on Explore button. 2. Left of title bar click on search icon. 3. Type in: pinta 4. Pinta app is displayed. Click on Pinta to go into details (attachment 1_search_window.png). 5. PROBLEM 1: Now first problem appears. At the top-right there is displayed "Ubuntu". As I understand this info is pointing that Pinta program is in my case installed from Ubuntu/deb, which is wrong. Pinta at my case is installed as snap package (attachment 2_default_windows.png). 6. In top-right click on Source selection button. 7. Excellent all three packages types are displayed: flatpak, snap and Ubuntu/deb. 8. From Source selection select flatpak and flatpak package is displayed. 9. PROBLEM 2: Click on Source selection and there are now only two options displayed: flatpak and Ubuntu/deb (attachment 3_flatpack_selected.png). 10. From left-site of title bar click on back button. Pinta is listed. Click on Pinta. 11. Click on Source button from top-right, we now have three options to select. Select Ubuntu/deb and Ubunt/deb package is displayed, which is fine. 12. PROBLEM 3: Click on Source button again and only flatpak and Ubuntu/deb packages are listed. 13. From left-site of title bar click on back button. Pinta is listed. Click on Pinta. 14. Click on Source button from top-right, we now have three options to select. Select snap package. 15. Snap package is displayed. [Bug 1786822] Re: Pinta constantly crashes in Ubuntu fresh install [double free or corruption (out)]
SUGGESTION TO GET OUT OF RABBIT HOLE OF CONSTANT PINTA CRASHES Anyone to get into this crashing problems I strongly suggest to do the following: 1. Check Pinta version. Open Terminal and type in: pinta --version 2. If version 1.6 is displayed, you are using 6 years old Pinta version. Pinta 1.7 was released more then a year ago, but sadly 6 years old Pinta version is still packaged in all of the recent Ubuntu releases (20.10, 21.04 and 21.10). I suggest to remove Pinta deb package completely: sudo apt purge pinta If using some other Linux distribution, check Linux distribution command to remove installed package. 3. Install Pinta 1.7 from snap package: sudo snap install pinta Why I suggest to install Pinta 1.7 from snap? a) Snap packages bound Pinta program all of the dependencies into single package completely independent from Ubuntu version and completely independent from any software installed on Ubuntu distribution like Mono versions etc that is the most likely candidate for crashes. If you are using some other Linux distribution, then you need to install snapd package before step 3 above is possible. See details (there is one single command): https://snapcraft.io/docs/installing-snapd b) I am using Pinta 1.7 snap package for more then a year and very little to none serious problems. c) Pinta 1.7 snap package is regularly updated by snap maintainer, so any new fixes in stable branch get released you get updates and so massively reducing potential problems. If you prefer Flatpack instead of Snap, there is also flatpack version of Pinta. See instruction how to install flatpack: https://flatpak.org/setup/ and instructions at the bottom of https://www.flathub.org/apps/details/com.github.PintaProject.Pinta how to install Pinta. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1786822 Title: Pinta constantly crashes in Ubuntu fresh install [double free or corruption (out)] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/pinta/+bug/1786822/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1903986] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freezes with remmina in full-screen
Daniel, on Feb 2 I have changed to "Ubuntu on Wayland" at login as you suggested and up till now I have had no issues with freezing. But yesterday after few months I needed to record my screen and found out that SimpleScreenRecorder program does not capture video if wayland is used, so I switched back to X session selecting "Ubuntu" session at login recorded screen. Today I have just forgotten to changed back to wayland. And the result? Today using X session and Ubuntu freezed and the only way to get it back was hard reset. So your theory of my problem being related to "X session" on my laptop may have some true in it. I just wanted to inform you about this. [Bug 1903986] Re: Ubuntu 20.04 freezes with remmina in full-screen
It may really be hidetop...@mathieu.bidon.ca Gnome Shell extension. Now that you mention it again I opened up Extension application and try playing with the extension and when pressing the new shortcut key (that was not set until now), whole screen froze and I was requested to hard reset the laptop (red rectangle on print-screen). I rebooted the laptop and I am playing again with extension keyboard shortcuts, but now everything works fine. I am playing it for a while setting all kind of setting and works fine. I still don't have reproducible steps, something just triggers the freeze, but I can't figure it out what that is. I have collected files like requested in #22 and I am attaching them. Maybe from the logs you can see if there is the same pattern. If yes, then this extension may cause freezes. ** Attachment added: "hide_top_bar.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1903986/+attachment/5449162/+files/hide_top_bar.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1903986 Title: Ubuntu 20.04 freezes with remmina in full-screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1903986/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1896519] Re: kworker consumes 80% of CPU
The same day after I have reported this problem, kworker stopped consuming CPU. I am pretty sure it was kworker/5 a problem. [Bug 1749993] Re: After turning low-resolution-graphics Dash is transparent to unusable state
In both cases "low graphic mode" true or false the "tab switcher" background is too transparent too. [Bug 1749993] [NEW] After turning low-resolution-graphics Dash is transparent to unusable state
Public bug reported: I have fresh installed Ubuntu 16.04 like two weeks ago or something. Today I have updated packages: sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade I have noticed compiz and other packages updated and from article http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/02/new-unity-desktop-update-now- available I have seen it is now possible to turn on "low graphic mode" which is excellent idea for my 14-years old 32-bit laptop. I did: gsettings set com.canonical.Unity lowgfx true logged off and logged back in. When I press Super key Dash is launched, but display is totally useless way too transparent. See print screen. I have never had such a problem. Turning low graphic mode off and this problem disappears. P.S. I also have the problem with Alt+Tab switcher now background in switcher is white (if white background) it looks the same transparent problem. I turn off low graphic mode, switcher is still white. [Bug 1598420] [NEW] Switch account and there is not possible to type in location bar in Firefox anymore
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop 32-bit. 1. Login into Ubuntu with normal user. 2. Everything works fine also in Firefox without a problem. 3. Wait for few minutes that screen gets locked or press Super+L to lock a screen. 4. Now on log on screen select another user and login. 5. Start Firefox (default browser installed when Ubuntu is installed). 6. Click in location bar and try to type something in it. It looks like keyboard does not work. This is a problem! With mouse selecting some saved link from bookmarks and then try to use keyboard, Home/End/PageUp/PageDown works without a problem, but typing letters in location or search box can not be performed. Looks like a keyboard problem. But open Gedit, Terminal or any other application and typing letters works without a problem. Work-around for this problem: 1. Close Firefox. 2.
