[Bug 289034] Re: Disable wallpaper on connection + restart = wallpaper gone forever
I had the same problem. Great that there will be a solution in future releases, but how to get the wallpaper back? When the Gnome is started, the wallpaper is loaded, but during all applications are loaded the wallpaper is replaced by the background color. I understand it has something to do with Nautilus, but I can't find the right solution. -- Disable wallpaper on connection + restart = wallpaper gone forever https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289034 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 320298] Re: Please add Gestikk to the repos?
[needs-packaging] Gestikk gestikk is an application for nearly all netwm-conform windowmanagers (written in Python) that recognizes predefined mouse gestures and executes defined actions. For example, with gesture “down - left” you could run Firefox or simulate the keyboard shortcut Alt Backspace which restarts the grahpical user interface (better: The Xserver). There are also included some usefull features like showing the gesture on the screen while drawing it and notifications when it has been recognized by gestikk (as a balloontip or as on screen display (OSD). [Bug 234355] [NEW] [hardy] dvd devices are not correctly configured in xine (affecting DVD-playback in Kaffeine)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libxine1 [hardy] dvd devices are not correctly configured in xine (affecting DVD- playback in Kaffeine) In Kaffeine under settings for the xine-engine under media. There is a setting dvd.device. This is set by default to /dev/dvd, but there is no /dev/dvd (anymore), but instead the dvd-player is using /dev/scd0. So xine should somehow know how to find right device or /dev/dvd should be created as a symlink for backwards-compatibility. [Bug 220798] Re: [KDE] Applications tab in preferences is empty in Firefox-3.0b5
An official tar ball doesn't have this kind of problems, so if I understand correctly there are parts of the official Firefox code split off and are now part of the Ubuntu firefox-gnome-integration. This package is not installed when you install the firefox meta package. So someone on Kubuntu or another Ubuntu-edition that has no Firefox installed by default (I also understand the firefox-gnome-integration is installed by default on the Ubuntu-desktop) misses some (essential) functionality when installing a meta-package. I think this is a very serious bug, especially because in the past there was never any kind of problem like this. Also understand that many Kubuntu users install Firefox as their default browser. [Bug 104553] Re: upgrade failed when fontconfig cache dirs are newer than system date
Actually I had this problem today with a fresh Gutsy installation on a PC. It is not my machine, so I can't get more information than I will give below. Note, that I installed Gutsy a few weeks ago, without problems, but with the Live CD. 1. Windows XP was already installed. 2. Used the alternate Gutsy Install CD. 3. There was already a Dapper installation on the partition used, but I manually rearranged the partitions. 1.5 GB Swap, 10 GB root and the 60 GB home. Windows NTFS partitions untouched. So overwriting the previous installation 4. Installation went fine. 5. Booting went fine. 6. Installing the upgrades (after doing an extra update) worked until the configuration of ttf-opensymbol. It gave exactly the same problem as the original poster. It also refused the upgrade the OOo packages, because of dependence of the most recent ttf-opensymbol. 7. After reading the forums and launchpad, I found out very quickly that I had do a sudo touch on all above directories that gave failed to write cache. 8. Problem fixed. [Bug 85751] Re: Distorted MP3 sound
I have Kubuntu and have the bug, as everyone should already know by now. [Bug 149609] Re: [gutsy] Running a Wine application freezes up the whole system
The system also freezes when I go to the webcam properties of Kopete. This is properly related to each other, because I had similar bugs that freezes the system: Bug #132000 Bug #147269 So it is properly not Wine related, so I assign to another package. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-driver-via (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: wine = xserver-xorg-driver-via -- [gutsy] Running a Wine application freezes up the whole system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/149609 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@mlind: That is very arrogant. The problem is here since Feisty and a lot of non-developers/non-packagers provided solutions and even patches (that one unfortunately was not accepted because Ubuntu changed the way they handle patches). This bug should already be fixed 8 months ago. @Frode: Yes, I even restarted X. When I downgraded to kdesudo_1.1-0ubuntu3, it worked again right after I'd downgraded. [Bug 155032] Re: kdesu ownership change
@Frode: Thank you. The new deb (5 (2nd upload)) works fine, I don't need xhost +local: anymore to start X-applications as another (non-root) user. Only issue that remains (by maybe thats a feature) is the issue with the passwords. I have to give my own password (like sudo root) to start an X-app as another user. -- kdesu ownership change https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155032 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 155032] Re: kdesu ownership change
I don't if it is related, but a part of this bug is not solved. (confirming to marked as duplicate bug #144722. I can indeed now start X-applications with root. I still can't start applications as another user on my local system (user test in the below example) without doing xhost +local: (xauth does not work either) first. With the previous kdesu I didn't need to set xhost +local:. Another change is that I don't need to fill in the password of user test, but my own password that I also use when I want to start a root-application with sudo/kdesudo. So I can now access every user on my system with my own password. I changed /usr/lib/openoffice/program/openintro_ubuntu.bmp to a 24bpp bitmap (see attachment) and now the brown is used. [Bug 151093] [gutsy, feisty and below] Text in Openoffice.org can't be pasted correctly with the middle mouse button
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org Since I can remember it is always almost impossible to copy text out of Openoffice with just selecting the text and paste it somewhere else with the middle mouse button (is there a name for this great unix/linux- feature?). When you select a text in Openoffice and want to paste it with the middle mouse button in e.g. a Firefox text form or Kate, the pasted text is cut off. The exact position where it's cut off is not always the same and if you select e.g. only a few words it works. Most of the times the start of the selection is shown, but also sometimes the middle part or the end part. There seems to be some kind of structure in this bug: 1. How further down into the document you select the text, how bigger the problem. 2. How more selections you make, how bigger the problem. Above rules are not always the same, so maybe it's coincidence. The bug is also present in reverse (dropping into Openoffice, although not as worse as into Openoffice), except for formatted content from out of Firefox (that is pasted 100% correct, i.
