[Bug 664533] Re: Installer stuck on keyboard layout selection

2011-06-03 Thread mikeloco14
Still on Natty release.
I know many people who tried ubuntu and ran into this. This is a huge bug, as
you waste your time waiting for the installation to finish and thinking you
might be able to fix it after install, but nothing happens.

Took a picture of a friend's laptop when this happened:

[Bug 160311] Re: Resizing windows by grabbing window borders is difficult [please no more comments; patches welcome]

2011-01-09 Thread mikeloco14
I thought I was the only one who really had a problem with this. But
then I thought that wouldn't make sense, and that probably nobody had
filed a bug.

So I searched and found this.

And I'm shocked this HUGE bug has been filed here for around 3 years yet it's
low priority.
How can this be low priority if it affects _every_ window? And this is ubuntu,
not some distro targeting command-line hackers.

I'm sorry I can't contribute any code to fix it, but I think you should
reconsider some of your priorities.

Now, from looking at
http://blogs.fedoraproject.org/wp/mclasen/2010/10/09/getting-a-grip/,
GTK+3 will include this (hopefully this is mainstream and not only
Fedora), but unless GTK+3 is included in natty (AFAIK it is, correct me
if I'm wrong. and I hope I'm not… also, this leaves lucid out in the
cold, and the latest LTS shouldn't be left suffering this terrible bug)
and all existing GTK+2 applications use GTK+3 when ran on a system with
GTK+3 (which I doubt, considering how horrendus GTK+1 apps look) the
outcome won't be pretty at all...

[Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards

2009-10-18 Thread mikeloco14
Seems bgerlich's last deb does not work in Karmic (and neither does Karmic's
gdebi... ad to use dpkg -i)
However, that sisimedia package does!

Btw, I don't think it was the xorg.conf, as it didn't even exist.

[Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards

2009-10-17 Thread mikeloco14
I changed monitors, and now it does work. The older monitor only supported
1024x768, but for some reason, the driver limited it to 800x600 and some
widescreen weirdness in it. The new one supports 1280x720 and works perfecly!
However, I'm going to install the karmic beta. Does it work with it?

[Bug 301958] Re: no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards

2009-02-18 Thread mikeloco14
It works fine, it is much faster than stupid vesa... But when i
restarted X, it looked like widescreen compressed on my 4:3 monitor...
The monitor said it was 800x600, so I went to System - Preferences -
Screen Resolution. It said it was 960x600, and there was no 1024x768...
My monitor is capable of 1024x768 and so is the card (in windows it
could use 1024x768 and so it could with vesa.)

I don't know how to fix this... Could someone help!???
