I upgraded to 9.04 from 8.10 on 30/05/09; I waited until then, as I had the idea that any bugs would have been fixed... I followed the steps as mentioned by LeeWells, but I had the same result as kit. So I uninstalled pulseaudio, Myth seems OK now. I experienced the problem of the frontend crashing in the following circumstances, but I suppose that all of these go through the same process that triggers the crash: 1. on Live TV, using the pop-up menu, trying to change channels (fortunately, I only use Live TV rarely). 2. exiting from watching a recorded TV program, using the KB escape button (whether at the end or not). 3. trying to delete from the pop-up menu that displays at the end of a recorded TV program. uninstalling the unstripped versions of those libraries, installing the standard ones and rebooting the computer worked for me. reinstalled pulseaudio, problem returned. installed libavutil49 libavcodec52 (as suggested by Apport retracing service), and the problem went away. My machine had -unstripped- versions of those libraries installed.
