Similar-- Do a fresh install of 12.04 and go on to do the updates of packages which total 647 packages-- throughout the process I get the pixmap errors similar to this (they change a little but you get it off and on throughout the upgrade process. it looks that gtk2-engines-pixbuf is not installed by default. after installing this package (together with gnome-themes error is gone. The bug is the missing installation.
