[Bug 2063557] [NEW] After upgrading to Ubuntu 24.04, login screen shows "Ubuntu 23.10"

2024-04-26 Thread Javier de la Puente Alonso
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from Ubuntu 23.10 to 24.04 following the instructions in
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/NobleUpgrades#Upgrading_Ubuntu_Desktops_to_24.04_LTS
(that is, with update-manager -d), everything went smooth.

However, in the bottom left part of the login screen it shows "Ubuntu
23.10" instead of the expected "Ubuntu 24.04".

You can find attached a picture of the login screen.

[Bug 2063502] Re: 24.04: dvd image wont fit on dvd and missing libraries

2024-04-26 Thread Chris Guiver
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures.

At a minimum, we need:

1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem.
2. The behavior you expected.
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Please also ensure that you include the release and flavour of Ubuntu
that you are using.

The capacity of a dual layer DVDR(W) is 8.3-8.5GB (8.5GB unformatted),
which will fit a Ubuntu ISO though you didn't specify what Ubuntu
product/ISO you're meaning; eg. a Ubuntu Desktop 24.04 LTS ISO is
smaller (5.7GB) than this size for example. A single layer DVD is of
course smaller, but the intended install media today has been a USB
flash drive for some time.

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at
https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709.

Thank you!

   Status: New

** Changed in: openscap (Ubuntu Mantic)
   Status: New => Fix Released

** Changed in: openscap (Ubuntu Noble)
   Status: New => Fix Released

** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

   * This issue causes a crash in openscap when there's a circular
  dependency in systemd services, and currently affects both Ubuntu 20.04
- and 22.04.
+ and 22.04. openscap on Ubuntu 23.10 and 24.04 already contain this fix.

   * This indirectly is affecting the usage of USG (Ubuntu Security Guide)
  for CIS auditing in systems with ceph-mds. See LP: #2060345.

   * This issue was reported to upstream here:
  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1478285 and later fixed in
  openscap upstream git repo
  https://github.com/OpenSCAP/openscap/pull/1474. This SRU is a backport
  of the mentioned pull request.

  [ Test Plan ]

   * There are a few ways to reproduce this issue, as you can see some notes on
LP: #2060345.
     But for simplicity, the easiest way to reproduce this issue is to run the
following commands.
     On Ubuntu 20.04:
  ```
  $ oscap oval eval --id "oval:ssg-service_rsyslog_enabled:def:1"
ssg-ubuntu2004-oval.xml
  Definition oval:ssg-service_rsyslog_enabled:def:1: true
  ```

   * The other tests we will do is to run full usg fix and audit and
  report if the output is as expected.

  [ Where problems could occur ]

   * This fix was never backported to version 1.2 in upstream git repo, but was
applied to openscap 1.2 in
     RHEL-based distros, it is unclear if the backport ever created another
issue with the
     systemdunitdependency probe. If that is the case we expect to see some
other tests

2024-04-26 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello ATTAFI, or anyone else affected,

Accepted chibi-scheme into mantic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chibi-
scheme/0.9.1-3ubuntu0.23.10.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
mantic to verification-done-mantic. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-mantic. In either case, without details of your testing we will
not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s)
fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in
-proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

[Bug 2054395] Re: [sru] sos upstream 4.7.0

2024-04-26 Thread Arif Ali
@Lucas, it is ready.

We were planning to resolve that bug as part of the whole SRU of 4.7.0.

When n/m/j/f are done, we'll get the bionic one done too, and that will
be 4.7.0 as well, I hope that makes sense.

Or, would you prefer us to fix the current version there first, and then
do the SRU for 4.7.0?

EDIT: in-fact I already uploaded a debdiff on that LP, so that is ready
for SRU for that fix too

Bug reporting is about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future
users from hitting the same bug.

I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg.
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your
problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community
http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or
https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at

[Bug 2063535] [NEW] Ubuntu-Cinnamon 24.04 language

2024-04-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hello,

After a fresh install of Ubuntu-Cinnamon in French, the language was still in
English.
The locale command shows the variables are "fr_FR.UTF-8" except LANGUAGE which
is "en".
I didn't find how to switch language in the control panel so I had to write
"LANGUAGE=fr" in /etc/environment to have the French language at restart.

[Bug 2056331] Re: [SRU] fix suspend/resume when there are no input devices

2024-04-26 Thread Talha Can Havadar
Hello Timo,

On jammy,
```
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Release:22.04
Codename:   jammy
```
I was able to reproduce the issue using old version of the xorg-server
package(2:21.1.4-2ubuntu1.7~22.04.10), for the ones who are curious about the
bug, first you need to boot the board with keyboard/mouse connected to usb and
display attached and then login as usual. Then remove all usb device and follow
the steps in bug description through tty console.

After enabling -proposed and updating xorg-server packages to
2:21.1.4-2ubuntu1.7~22.04.11, I followed the same steps to reproduce the bug.

I can confirm that the bug has been fixed with
2:21.1.4-2ubuntu1.7~22.04.11

Thank you all!

[Bug 2056331] Please test proposed package

2024-04-26 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Talha, or anyone else affected,

Accepted xorg-server into jammy-proposed. The package will build now and
be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-
server/2:21.1.4-2ubuntu1.7~22.04.11 in a few hours, and then in the
-proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been
performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-
jammy to verification-done-jammy. If it does not fix the bug for you,
please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-
failed-jammy.

[Bug 2063150] Re: No sound after upgrade to 24.04

2024-04-26 Thread Fred Vkigg
Bug occurs with released 24.04 where the kernel is 6.8.0-31-generic

Strangely the live version of 24.04 booted on same machine form the
released desktop ISO image does NOT have the problem with the same
kernel version.

The Precision 5520 had hybrid graphics with both integrated Intel (HD
P630) and discrete Nvidia (GM197GLM) processors.

The live system is using the 'nouveau' driver for the Nvidia graphics. I
suspect the problem is being indirectly caused by the Nvidia drivers
HDMI HD Audio support combined with the Intel AVS audio driver

[Bug 2048404] Re: Don't WARN_ON_ONCE() for a broken discovery table

2024-04-26 Thread Ubuntu Kernel Bot
This bug is awaiting verification that the linux-xilinx-
zynqmp/5.15.0-1029.33 kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please
test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is
solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy-linux-xilinx-zynqmp'
to 'verification-done-jammy-linux-xilinx-zynqmp'. If the problem still
exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-jammy-linux-xilinx-zynqmp'
to 'verification-failed-jammy-linux-xilinx-zynqmp'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!
