[Bug 334198] [NEW] Seahorse displays prompt with incorrect language

2009-02-24 Thread Steven McCoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

I have a Ubuntu 8.10 machine set to Chinese, /etc/environment as
follows:

PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
LANGUAGE=zh_HK:zh_TW:zh:en_US:en
LANG=zh_HK.UTF-8

If I change the login language in GDM to English, login and initiate a
ssh connection I am prompted in Chinese not English.

Everything else is in English, environment variables are set correctly
by GDM:

stev...@nozomi:/etc$ env | grep LANG
LANG=en_HK.UTF-8
GDM_LANG=en_HK.UTF-8

It's probably either Seahorse or Gnome-keyring, both their descriptions
seem to match.

[Bug 450149] [NEW] Print multiple pages-per-side in Calc

2009-10-13 Thread Steven McCoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Basic problem is how to print multiple pages-per-side in a spreadsheet
to save paper.

OO.o Writer has this functionality and so does standard Gnome printing.
My current workaround is to print to PDF then use Evince to print the
PDF to multiple pages-per-side to the printer.

Affects all versions of OO.o through 3.1 as packaged in Karmic.

[Bug 450149] Re: Print multiple pages-per-side in Calc

2009-10-14 Thread Steven McCoy
It's hidden under the option brochure, some more details:

http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71t=19268start=0

Preferably OpenOffice.org should print like gedit, giving the full range of
print options.

[Bug 444151] Re: Have to delete search line for system to boot

2009-10-19 Thread Steven McCoy
Same here when install 9.10 multi-boot with Windows XP. The installer
created the following partitions:

/dev/sda1   *   1   14236   114350638+   7  HPFS/NTFS
/dev/sda2   14237   1945741937682+   5  Extended
/dev/sda5   14237   1923740170501   83  Linux
/dev/sda6   19238   19457 1767118+  82  Linux swap / Solaris

With UUIDs:

/dev/sda1: UUID=8A34BE3E34BE2CD7 TYPE=ntfs
/dev/sda5: UUID=c290075b-f3a3-4155-8d9c-d450d268c26a TYPE=ext4
/dev/sda6: UUID=d3ba4c62-5290-4d55-88a7-88729dbf9bfa TYPE=swap

Then the search lines in grub.cfg always fail and need to be removed,
one from 00_header gives a warning first but can be ignored, then the
10_linux entries stop the system from booting:

search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set c290075b-f3a3-4155-8d9c-
d450d268c26a

Windows XP launches fine with it's search line:

search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set 8a34be3e34be2cd7

[Bug 476091] [NEW] Karmic regression printing Chinese

2009-11-05 Thread Steven McCoy
Public bug reported:

Printing Traditional Chinese from OO.o is broken in Karmic, output is
similar to PDF display problems in Jaunty when poppler-data is not
installed.

Screen copy looks correct, exporting to PDF and viewing in Evince looks
correct. Converting PDF to PS using pdftops and viewing in gs, or
printing via Evince shows some characters with outline instead of solid.

Reproduced on two systems.

[Bug 353835] [NEW] NetworkManager 0.7 lacks 802.1Q/VLAN tagging support

2009-04-02 Thread Steven McCoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

I have eth0 as a static unconfigured interface and eth0.615 as a VLAN
tagged interface in order to allow me to create virtual machines on
different VLANs. I currently have to manually configure this and would
like to use NetworkManager instead considering it has 802.1x now.

[Bug 369012] [NEW] Firefox instability after security update, before restart

2009-04-28 Thread Steven McCoy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

The notification mechanism for Firefox background security updates is
not sufficiently obvious to users. In Jaunty a dialog box appears
stating restart is required but no details of the consequences if not
taken. If the request is ignored or hidden under various windows the
user may not be aware or have forgotten about the action.

The Firefox window should be modified itself to alert the user of its
now limited function state, preferably with some steps taken to limit
the actions the user can take or make it more obvious when errors occur
instead of actions like navigation to pages or creating new tabs just
silently fail.

[Bug 441990] [NEW] Buffalo WLI-UC-GN 802.11n USB-WiFi adapter non functional

2009-10-04 Thread Steven McCoy
Public bug reported:

The WLI-UC-GN adapter is not functional in Ubuntu 9.10 beta with Linux
2.6.31.11.22.  USB details:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0411:015d MelCo., Inc.

With either the live cd or installing, a wireless network does not
appear in NetworkManager. It is not clear the support status of this
adapter or what driver should be used. Google suggests anything from
Ralink 2800 to 3070 drivers. The provided modules do not detect an
interface.  Building the 2009_0820_RT2870_Linux_STA_V2.2.0.0 drivers
fails due to API changes in the Linux kernel. Patching the changes for
the new API creates a driver that can be loaded, appears in ifconfig and
iwconfig but does not appear in NetworkManager. Running wpa_supplicant
makes a wireless network heading appear in NetworkManager but other
than that is non-functional for scanning networks or joining a network.

Trying to use ndisgtk on the bundled Windows driver CD fails due to not
detecting the adapter. However the CD lists what would appear a
different product UCGN and that gives an error about unable to
determine whether an adapter can be detected. Using the ndiswrapper
command line shows that the adapter can be detected. Running the
ndiswrapper shows a runtime link error due to an undefined function:

[Bug 546871] Re: [i945gm] System freeze induced by Chrome

2010-04-12 Thread Steven McCoy
It doesn't take a lot of imagination to extrapolate what the preceding
lines where, run this in your terminal if you can't:

perl -e 'for ($i = 0; $i  103013; $i++) { print
[drm:i915_add_request], $i\n; }'

It's not enough context because the DRM logging is not sufficient for
this problem.
