[Bug 1319267] [NEW] ubuntu template: don't set $http_proxy from $HTTP_PROXY
Public bug reported: I'm using apt-cacher-ng on my workstation, so my local apt specifies Acquire::http { Proxy http://127.0.0.1:3142;; }; That won't work in a container, because there the IP is 10.0.3.1. But with lxc-ubuntu's choose_container_proxy() there is no way to get it right: - If I specify HTTP_PROXY=http://10.0.3.1:3142 then the container's apt config is correct, but bootstrapping fails because it also sets export http_proxy=$HTTP_PROXY - If I specify HTTP_PROXY=http://127.0.0.1:3142, then bootstrapping works, but the container's apt config is broken Please do either of: - Don't set http_proxy to $HTTP_PROXY - Allow specifying/overriding $http_proxy and $APT_PROXY separately Thanks! ** Affects: lxc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to lxc in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1319267 Title: ubuntu template: don't set $http_proxy from $HTTP_PROXY To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxc/+bug/1319267/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1319267] Re: ubuntu template: don't set $http_proxy from $HTTP_PROXY
Hmm, and just after filing this bug and after I removed caches, old containers, etc. and run this again with HTTP_PROXY=http://10.0.3.1:3142 it works again (as it used to for a long time, until yesterday and this morning). [Bug 1275656] Re: open-vm-dkms 2011.12.20-562307-0ubuntu1: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build
In response to comment #9 from Michael Schaller: Robert, what are HWE kernels on Precise? Which of these metapackages will install a HWE kernel? linux-image-generic-lts-quantal linux-image-generic-lts-raring linux-image-generic-lts-saucy linux-image-generic-lts-trusty All of those install an HWE kernel, you want Saucy or later. A kernel which is v3.9 or later is required for functionality in these patches and I will clarify in the package description with an update to the patch attached here. I suggest Saucy as of today because it is the supported LTS kernel in Precise as per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack#Kernel.2BAC8-Support.Ubuntu_Kernel_Support. The Trusty LTS kernel for Precise is in early preview as of today and will not be supported until 12.04.5 according to that web page. To make things easier, there is a single meta package you can use to point to the latest HWE kernel, linux[-image]-hwe-generic. Sadly, that package is still pointing to Quantal but I have opened bug #1319471 to correctly point the linux[-image]-hwe-generic packages to linux[-image ]-generic-lts-saucy. Hopefully that can be resolved by the time this package becomes available and we'll have simpler guidance on which kernel to use. Robert, if you introduce a new package to Precise can you also make sure that there is a transitional package in Trusty? This would greatly help during a dist-upgrade from Precise to Trusty... The second patch does just that, it updates the trusty open-vm-tools packages to provide transitional packages and make for a smooth Precise to Trusty upgrade. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to open-vm-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1275656 Title: open-vm-dkms 2011.12.20-562307-0ubuntu1: open-vm-tools kernel module failed to build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/1275656/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1319595] [NEW] upstart script ignores some php-fpm.conf parameters, cannot be bypassed in preference of SystemV init script.
Public bug reported: Trusty 14.04 LTS x86_64 Server The upstart script invokes php5-fpm with --nodaemonize. This causes several options from the config file to be ignored, including log file locations, pid file, and others. It also means that logging is done to /var/log/upstart/ and is no longer configurable. Despite the advantages Upstart brings, these problems may cause some (like me) to choose to abandon Upstart for this particular package. Unfortunately, deleting the Upstart script does not have the intended effect of falling back to the /etc/init.d version by the same name. Due to the following snippet from /etc/init.d/php5-fpm, # Don't run if we are running upstart if init_is_upstart; then exit 1 fi it is impossible to successfully run the init script. The init script is permanently and fundamentally DISABLED by this snippet. A notice or warning output would be more appropriate; or perhaps some additional value set from /etc/default/php5-fpm that would override this behavior. As things stand, I cannot use the init script without making an incompatible edit, which I would then have to fight to maintain against updates for the next few years. Backwards-compatibility, please. This is the server version, after all! ** Affects: php5 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed ** Tags: server trusty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to php5 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1319595 Title: upstart script ignores some php-fpm.conf parameters, cannot be bypassed in preference of SystemV init script. [Bug 1310792] Re: dfree command is not working anymore in samba
My workaround for now is to allow zfs module access to all users from the zfs group, instead of only root. This way the zfs command can be run by by users from that group. /etc/udev/rules.d/91-zfs-permissions.rules #Use this to add a group and more permissive permissions for zfs #so that you don't always need run it as root. beware, users not root #can do nearly EVERYTHING, including, but not limited to destroying #volumes and deleting datasets. they CANNOT mount datasets or create new #volumes, export datasets via NFS, or other things that require root #permissions outside of ZFS. ACTION==add, KERNEL==zfs, MODE=0660, GROUP=zfs Note that you need to add the zfs group and add the users to it. This is also a bit risky, because every user of that group can now modify zfs stuff. [Bug 1319600] Re: maas-cli stack trace if .maascli.db unreadable
Is there any reason you missed that that we can help to fix? Only that in the middle of testing an update I followed the same directions for precise, quantal, saucy, and noticed no problems until trusty. Fair's fair, things change, but it would have been nice to have a hint in the right direction without resorting to the web.
