[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 765090] Re: Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty beta)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771655] [NEW] [i965gm] Xorg crash, randomly since ca. Apr 20
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Seemingly random crashing, usually quite soon after logging in if it happens. Started recently during the last two weeks, about the same time as unity stopped crashing (which didn't bring X down). Seems to be triggered by _some_ action of mine, usually alt-tabbing or some other application switch / startup event. But it easily doesn't happen during a day more than once. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771713] [NEW] Image on external monitor is broken when only the external monitor is enabled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I have this strange regression in Natty. Everything was fine in Maverick. I have an intel core i3 CPU with the default video card. I connect the external monitor using the D-SUB (VGA) connector. First time when I have connected the external monitor, Ubuntu was trying to be smart and automatically enabled the external monitor and disabled the builtin monitor. The image on the external monitor was broken, flickering very hard and it was not possible to see anything on the screen. I pressed the external monitor key from the keyboard and `Display properties windows was opened with both monitors enabled. Now the image was stable on the external monitor. I tried various configurations, it it looks like the image on the external monitor is only broken when the internal monitor is turned off. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771716] [NEW] middle click emulation not working
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-mouse This looks like a regression in Natty as in Maverick everything was fine :). I have installed a fresh Natty system, but the middle click emulation on my external mouse is not working. I am using an external mouse attached to the laptop. The middle click emulation is working when I used the 2 buttons from the laptop touchpad. Thanks! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771837] [NEW] xorg died (gracefully to login) but without ado
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I was using it normally (firefox, chrome, banshee, and also reading a PDF) when suddenly the X turned off, back to a textual background (as I would expected if I have pressed Ctrl+Alt+Bckspc, but I have not) and shortly after I was presented with the login screen again (gdm?) ... it has happened at least five time the last two weeks, but I was not sure if it was related with other issues I was also facing during the beta testing, but now I am sure it had nothing to do with anything else I was doing. The system is fully up to date (checked just after the issue, to be sure). I do not had a real step-by-step to reproduce the problem, as it seems to happen kind of out of the blue. Sice the first few times I have experience this issue I have installed a current kernel (not from apt-get) to try to solve something else (it did not seemed to have any influence on the current problem, as it happened before and after the upgrade anyway). I also suspect it might have something to do with intel drivers in xorg, but I am not skilled in x enough to even try this theory. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 753994] Re: [arrandale] Display is slanted when using 1360x768 resolution
Hi Bryce! 1- Carl first noticed it while certifying some systems, he stumbled upon a particular resolution that triggers the problem. Since we hadn't run the full, exhaustive set of tests on Natty, this was the first time we noticed it. I then went back to Maverick to confirm whether it'd happened there as well. 2- No, it's only on the 1360x768 resolution, and only on those two machines; to begin with, very few systems support that particular resolution, and none of the others exhibit the problem. 3- I connected an external monitor and switched to the problem resolution on the built-in display, it's still crooked/slanted. The external monitor shows no change. I then used xrandr to cycle through all available resolutions on the external display; none of them exhibit the problem on that display (though it's independent from the built-in one). The external display doesn't support 1360x768 so I was unable to test that :( 4- I'm attaching xrandr and Xorg.log from Maverick, booted with a LiveCD. 5- I tried the indicated kernel, the slanting/crooking problem still persists :( Kernel version from dmesg: [0.00] Linux version 2.6.38-8-generic (root@ubuntu-Vostro-V131) (gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu3) ) #42 SMP Tue Apr 26 09:07:43 CST 2011 (Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2) ** Attachment added: xrandr.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/753994/+attachment/2091821/+files/xrandr.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/753994 Title: [arrandale] Display is slanted when using 1360x768 resolution ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755715] Re: [RV670] radeon 3870 X2 gives black screen if using extended desktop
Oh no, I just realized you are on amd64... I was building i386 modules :( I am not going to cross-compile for amd64, but I will attach the patch here in case someone else is willing to do it. Otherwise, you can also try booting a i386 live CD to see if the issue is the same there. In that case, you can boot with radeon.nonsense=1 to block the normal radeon module, then insmod my module. But then you need to acquire the dmesg output afterwards, either by installing openssh-server and setting a password for the ubuntu live user and logging in from another computer, or by mounting a hard drive, and running sleep 60; dmesg /media/your-harddrive-ID/dmesg.txt on another virtual console so that it gets written to your harddrive (or memory stick). If this is too much for you, that's ok, we'll just have to wait and see if someone else can contribute. ** Patch added: (upstreamable) patch to get more debug information https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/755715/+attachment/2092050/+files/0001-drm-radeon-Print-out-gart-initialization-details-for.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755715 Title: [RV670] radeon 3870 X2 gives black screen if using extended desktop ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771991] [NEW] Resume from suspend causes video crash on Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro M1437G Laptop (ATI Mobility X700 )
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Hi. I Installed Ubuntu 11.04 on my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro M1437G laptop. When I m trying to suspend it and resume it wakes up, shows a multiple colorfull grafical artefacts, and a white screen in a few seconds. This is end, until I send laptop into cold reset. Or, It is possible with malfuncted display to open a console by ctrl-alt-F1 (completely blindfold), to login (blindly) and to enter (blindly) sudo reboot. Then it is rebooting. Disabling KMS choosing radeon.modeset=0 via grub causes my laptop to suspend and resume propertly. But in that case grafic is poor and there is no 3d, there is no compiz, there is no Unity ever. lspci 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM/GMS/910GML Express Processor to DRAM Controller (rev 04) 00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/PM Express PCI Express Root Port (rev 04) 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 04) 00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #1 (rev 04) 00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #2 (rev 04) 00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #3 (rev 04) 00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB UHCI #4 (rev 04) 00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 04) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev d4) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801FBM (ICH6M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 04) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) IDE Controller (rev 04) 00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 04) 01:03.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG [Calexico2] Network Connection (rev 05) 01:04.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments TSB43AB22/A IEEE-1394a-2000 Controller (PHY/Link) 01:05.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 754799] Re: [arrandale] external VGA output doesn't output anything (i686)
Oops, sorry, you're right about the hotkey, I'm repeating the test with xrandr this time. I'm running the same experimental kernel: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next- proposed/current/linux- image-2.6.39-994-generic_2.6.39-994.201104200727_amd64.deb On booting I see the following references to the GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging message: [ 14.327182] [drm] GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 3 [i915 gmbus panel] [ 15.375376] [drm] GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 4 [i915 gmbus dpc] I then tailed both /var/log/syslog and /var/log/Xorg.0.log, then plugged in the external display (no key presses, no xrandr yet). Here's what happens right when I plug it in (you're right, the GMBUS message appears right when I plug the external display): == /var/log/syslog == Apr 27 15:14:49 201002-5345 kernel: [ 530.567145] [drm] GMBUS timed out, falling back to bit banging on pin 2 [i915 gmbus vga] == /var/log/Xorg.0.log == [ 531.748] (II) intel(0): Allocated new frame buffer 3072x1050 stride 12288, tiled I produced a dmesg file with this experimental kernel and the xdiagnose settings as described on #6. I do see some events when plugging in the external display and also when running xrandr --auto: - Plugged in the external at [ 96.419325] - xrandr --auto at [ 198.077408] I'm attaching this new dmesg file as it might provide some information. Still, the problem persists and the external display shows nothing, even though it's being detected and used (terminal windows still appear in the external monitor, for instance, and I have to move them to the built-in to be able to use them). ** Attachment added: dmesg with the drm-intel-next kernel and drm.debug=0xe https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/754799/+attachment/2092045/+files/dmesg-5345.txt ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/754799 Title: [arrandale] external VGA output doesn't output anything (i686) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 564593] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 2
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a regular (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Thanks for testing Ubuntu and helping report GPU lockup bugs by using the automated bug reporting tools. Unfortunately, due to a bug in these reporting tools that existed in maverick and prior Ubuntu versions, the error dumps that were collected don't actually include the correct error codes. Because of this, the bugs cannot be diagnosed using this data. On a more positive note, using the fixed tools we were able to make a huge amount of progress on these freeze bugs in natty. In some cases the issues were resolved, in other cases we have a much deeper understanding of what is causing them. For these reasons, this bug report no longer needs to be kept open. Thank you again for participating in the effort to stabilize the Intel video driver for Ubuntu. Hopefully with natty we're getting closer to achieving this goal... ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/730451 Title: [i945gme] GPU lockup 5a68bc15 (ESR: 0x0001 IPEHR: 0x0211) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 747612] Re: [sandybridge-gt2] GPU lockup
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 557744] Re: [arrandale] lucid beta 2 live shows black screen
** Description changed: Image http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/20100406.1/lucid-desktop-i386.iso MD5Sum 8f323f741fefdb3e9e72aaa5666b2d6e Check disc for defects (run on a different computer than the test system) reports no errors. I booted from a CD, chose English, and selected Try Kubuntu without installing. After ~10 seconds the screen flashed on and off repeatedly, then stayed in the black-but-powered-on state. Eventually I heard the KDE start-up sound. The screen did not light up when I tried moving the cursor or pressing keys. Ctrl-Alt-F1 and Ctrl-Alt-F7 did not switch to other TTYs or sessions. The test computer is an HP Elitebook 8440p model WH255UT#ABA. Chipset: Mobile Intel QM57 Express, graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD. Note especially that this computer _does_ boot up successfully with a year-old Xubuntu 9.10 Live CD. + + [lspci] + 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Core Processor DRAM Controller (rev 12) + 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 12) + 00:1f.6 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset Thermal Subsystem (rev 06) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/557744 Title: [arrandale] lucid beta 2 live shows black screen ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
