For me it is a showstopper to!! So please if someone has a temporary solution, pleas tell. Perhaps it is possible to install an older version of Xorg or of some packages? And if it is possible, how to do this? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835945] Re: [needs quirk] Hansol H750 giving wrong EDID refresh rate
I think the poor chaps at Hansol have encoded the detailed mode clock frequency as big-endian instead of little-endian. Swapping bytes 36 and 37 would give a frequency of 125.22 MHz (1280x1024@70) instead of 599.22 Mhz. I have studied a couple of other Hansol EDID dumps but I could not find any other model having this error. I therefore made a proposal for a quirk for your model. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 861268] Re: text corruption in terminals (xterm, urxvt) and emacs
I have also been having this bug. I have tried quite a few things to narrow it down but I could not find anything too definitive. Basically, to reproduce it, I just go into a big php file and search for a string that will cause vim to jump around the file a lot. Every once in a while, when it should be redrawing the screen (I think...) is when this bug occurs and there will be text corruption. I have reproduced this in both xterm and gnome-terminal, so I don't think it is a problem with any specific terminal. Also, the actual corruption that occurs is different with each terminal. In gnome-terminal it will just show the same text as before the search jumped around the file, but the cursor and half the character after it will be changed to what should be displayed. Moving the cursor up and down will fix stuff line by line. Xterm on the other hand will jump to the correct location and redraw most of the screen, however chunks of text will simply be completely missing (see attachment). I did a few tests with xterm to try to further pin down what was causing it to fail and I think the main problem was the font. I tried using the default xterm font and color scheme and everything seemed to work fine. After changing the color scheme to the gnome-terminal scheme that ships with ubuntu, it was also running fine. However once I changed the font to Ubuntu Mono, size 13, the text corruption started. So either I was just getting really lucky or the errors were extremely rare using the normal font, or the change in font is somehow related to this bug. And finally, I am able to completely get rid of this bug by switching from unity to unity 2d. I am using 11.10 with pretty much all default settings and the default nvidia driver. Hope this helps, please let me know if you guys need any more info! ** Attachment added: Text corruption in vim, xterm https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/861268/+attachment/2638762/+files/Screenshot%20at%202011-12-18%2016%3A48%3A08.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/861268 Title: text corruption in terminals (xterm, urxvt) and emacs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/861268/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

In this case the app calls glXGetProcAddress with the incorrect function name, e.g. glCreateShaderObject, mesa incorrectly returns non-NULL, the app calls it. Sounds like a bug in the application to me. From the GLX 1.4 spec (though that's certainly not new in 1.4): A non-NULL return value for glXGetProcAddress does not guarantee that an extension function is actually supported at runtime. The client must also query glGetString() or glXQueryExtensionsString to determine if an extension is supported by a particular context. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/905456 Title: needs to be built with --disable-asm for super meat boy to work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/905456/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The client must also query glGetString() or glXQueryExtensionsString to determine if an extension is supported by a particular context. AFAICS the problem is that extension is supported (ARB_shader_objects), but the app tries glxGetProcAddress with the wrong name first (glCreateShaderObject), and if it returns NULL, then the app tries the same name with the ARB suffix and gets the correct pointer. When glXGetProcAddress returns non-NULL for the wrong name, the app just uses the returned pointer, which leads to nowhere. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 906107] Re: Chrome browser doesn't render correctly with xserver-xorg-video-radeon
Thanks for running apport. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 905591] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 00000018 when trying to configure one display centered above another
It also happened to me a couple of times in the last few weeks. I also had random hangs (without the above kernel panic message shown) that could only be solved by hard resetting the machine. I'm on precise and running the latest unity from the unity-team/staging PPA. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/905591 Title: BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0018 when trying to configure one display centered above another To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/905591/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
