[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1193991] Re: second screen horizontal sync problem when SNA is on

So the first step would to be to check we haven't caught this bug
already - look in ppa:xorg-edgers and ppa:mainline drm-intel-nightly for
the latest drivers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 531164] Re: [pineviewgm] resolution drops to VGA when external monitor is connected while X starts

2013-06-25 Thread Chris Wilson
The driver is doing exactly as it is told. The default behaviour of
fbcon and X is to create a mirrored fb that is the same on all
outputs. The display manager then sets whatever mode it wants upon
loading. There is no logs here from the failure of the display manager,
and since subsequent attempts to change mode work fine, there is no
indication that there is a bug in the driver - just userspace.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1158934] Re: HP ProBook 6570b using acpi_video0 for backlight rather than intel_backlight

2013-06-25 Thread Chris Wilson
Note that other HP machines are being blacklisted in acpi/video.c, e.g.

commit 780a6ec640a3fed671fc2c40e4dd30c03eca3ac3

ACPI / video: ignore BIOS initial backlight value for HP Pavilion g6

This patch addresses kernel bug 56661. BIOS reports an incorrect
backlight value, causing the driver to switch off the backlight
completely during startup. This patch ignores the incorrect value from
BIOS.

You could tweak that patch to match your machine and submit it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1054257] Re: [fglrx] Compiz (opengl) - Fatal: glXQueryExtensionsString is NULL for screen 0

2013-06-25 Thread JoaoPinto
It seems that every single time I update and reboot, I have this
problem. Not funny at all!

The solution is to sudo apt-get install linux-headers-'uname -r'.

When I do that it seems that the package is not installed. Was it
removed on the update?? After installing everything is back to normal.

How can we permanently solve this issue?

J

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1194478] [NEW] firefox image corruption

2013-06-25 Thread Simon K
Public bug reported:

since upgrading to Ubuntu 13.10 I've a problem with image-corruption in
firefox.

Symptoms:
1. A loaded image is shown instead of an other loaded image (image is
duplicated / replaced) [see screenshot, the icon in the top-left Meine Abos -
Youtube has the Icon of IT-News ct, iX, ... and of Portal ubuntuusers.de]
2. A image is corrupted so you can't even recognize what shall be shown
2_1. The image is black either entirely...
2_2. ... or some pixels are repeated over the whole image [see attached
screenshot, the icon in the top-left Meine Abos - Youtube]

This happens nearly every time, when the image is scaled down by
firefox. It happens less often when the image is actually in the right
size.

The problem can only be solved by reloading the image (preventing the
cache, i.e. hitting ctrl+f5)

Animated images [gif] are never corrupted.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1137817] Re: [ivb] System freeze after high memory usage

2013-06-25 Thread rsoika
Yes your are right. I changed the mtrr_gran_size and mtrr_chunk_size so no more
BAD*gran_size messages occure.
But the system still freezes :-(

Is there any thing I can do instead of testing every new kernel version
available at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ ??

In the moment the idea with the cpu-temprature is my favorite theory.
But I do not know how I should look into it. Currently I put a marker
under my laptop so the fan got more fresh air

It is so frustrating :(

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1174495] Re: Window Managers instability with r600 radeon and high monitor resolutions

2013-06-25 Thread Sylvain Falardeau
I installed the version 1:0.9.9~daily13.06.19-13.04-0ubuntu1 from
raring-proposed and rebooted.

It seems to work like the prior daily version I installed (see #68). The
virtual desktops seems to work correctly. The ALT-TAB still freezes from
time to time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-06-25 Thread Lothar Fausthenze
Is it possible for me to test the above fixes (g-s-d, x11-proto-core,
udev, xkeyboard-config) on precise?

I just built x11-proto-core from proposed but apparently the package
alone doesn't fix the bug for me. I also have to admit that I'm not
familiar with inter-distribution fixes and how to apply them to my
distribution, be it Ubuntu or Debian.

Thanks in advance. :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1174495] Re: Window Managers instability with r600 radeon and high monitor resolutions

2013-06-25 Thread Sylvain Falardeau
I am not sure about the ALT-TAB if it is related or not. The problems I
had with the old version was a combination of freezes when changing
workspaces AND doing ALT-TAB. Now the workspace switching works fine but
the ALT-TAB is still buggy. The showing and disappearing of the
applications logos when ALT-TAB switching is buggy (freezes).

I removed my Radeon card again and rebooted with my Intel integrated
card. The ALT-TAB works fine. This is why I think it is related to the
Radeon bug (but it may be another one).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1180986] Re: X Segmentation fault with dual-head config on Matrox G45FMDVP32DB /32MB /DVI /VGA

2013-06-25 Thread Tormod Volden
I am pretty sure it is the same problem and solution in Saucy. Here is a
debdiff for Saucy.

For upstream, I think Cyril's 02- Debian patch is a prerequisite and it
hasn't been upstreamed either, so dualview is simply broken upstream. I
will (re)post that one together with my one on xorg-devel (soon). There
is also a related third patch from Matthieu in December, but that one is
not needed for Ubuntu.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 408903] Re: Does not handle microphone mute button (KEY_MICMUTE)

2013-06-25 Thread James M. Leddy
Hi Lothar,

In order to get full functionality, you have got to download x11-proto-
core (sounds like that's already done), and then follow steps 3 and 4
from comment 108. If haven't compiled Ubuntu packages from source
before, this bug probably isn't the best place to start ;)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1194678] [NEW] Xorg high cpu usage

2013-06-25 Thread christian246

happening.
Also when I start to copy files the system seems to block for a while and then
I see xorg 90%

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 299727]

2013-06-25 Thread Sergey V. Udaltsov
My Type 7 keyboard has a PC layout. For at least the Type 6 keyboard there
are at least two layouts: PC layout and UNIX layout. The UNIX layout has the
capslock and control keys switched and I believe the Escape key was also
moved. Another difference is that the power key was changed to a standby key
(same keycode, but different icon printed on the key?)
Well, these days all linuxes are using same keycodes from evdev driver. What
keycode does that key generate?(In reply to comment #5)

Another detail of my Sun Type 7 USB keyboard: It has a euro sign on the 4,
instead of on the 5 as is more usual for other keyboard vendors.
You can you XKB option euro:4 if you like...

For a moment it looks there is no immediate need in separate model.
Perhaps an alias for Sun Type 6. Alan?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 299727]

(In reply to comment #6)

Yeah, an alias sounds more likely than a separate model, if people feel the
need to see the specific type name there.

BTW, the Sun Type 7 keyboards are reaching end of life, and being phased out
and replaced by a new Oracle keyboard that's much more standard PC/USB like:
