[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1272338] Re: Xorg memory leak on trusty

2014-02-17 Thread Chris Wilson
There are leaks all over the place (the one most often reported is in
one of the KDE systray applets). This particular bug was particularly to
the Intel driver.

OK, I just realized eliminate-configure-output doesn't fix the bug.
The branch itself has a bug which prevents this bug from manifesting
(which it still should).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1281019] [NEW] Brightness controls are not working nvidia-319 and nvidia-331

2014-02-17 Thread Priyantha Bleeker
Public bug reported:

Brightness controls are not working when the binary Nvidia drivers with
version 319 or higher(for example 331).

This running on my HP EliteBook 8560w with a Nvidia Quadro 2000M and a
HP DreamColor2 screen.

The Brightness keys (FN+F9 and FN+FN10) are doing 'something' in the
right corner of the screen the brightness control window does show-up
and changes, but the brightness of the screen itself does not.

This is a bug which is a long standing one, and Nvidia seems to ignore it :(
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/539462/linux/-nvidia-319-12-brightness-controls-not-working-on-laptop-ubuntu-13-03-/2/
There is the bugreport at the official Nvidia forums.
Also another bugreport here on Launchpad can be found here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-319/+bug/1241745

Would be great if Nvidia did put some effort in this!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1087763] Re: VGA is blank/black on P4M900

2014-02-17 Thread Ken Yap
I can confirm this problem with P4M900 which is built in on the Gigabyte
GA-VM900M. Maybe about a year ago I installed 12.04 LTS (may have been
12.04-1 or 12.04-2) and it worked fine with this video card. This time I
used the updated 12.04-4 and it couldn't start X. I'm going to try
installing 12.04-4 but reverting to an older version of xserver-xorg-
video-openchrome from the CLI.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1277343] Re: XMir starts with black screen ([xmir] Failed to set new display config: ... std::exception::what: Invalid format for used output)

2014-02-17 Thread Edwin Pujols
Tried u-s-c (with ubuntu-desktop-mir). At first I got a blank screen,
but after running `sudo restart lightdm` I was able to log into Unity.
The fonts looks a a bit weird and some apps (Firefox, VLC, file
selector) are not themed. Otherwise, usable... Nonetheless, when I
removed these packages with `remove --auto-remove` and rebooting,
lightdm wouldn't start (and I was presented with the Low graphics
dialog). So for now I'll have to use XMir.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1281232] [NEW] control/capslock key swap lost and (almost) no way to recover it

2014-02-17 Thread Barry Warsaw
Public bug reported:

Probably not an xorg problem, but anyway, after today's dist-upgrade, my
very long standing swap of the control and caps lock keys on my standard
Ubuntu desktop got lost. Now capslock actually is capslock and ctrl is
actually ctrl, despite a my previous settings swapping them.
Unfortunately, it seems like the ability to swap them back has been lost
in System Settings, or gnome-control-center{,.real}.

I will have to resort to xmodmap for now, but please restore the ability
to swap these two keys and to honor previous such settings.

It's worse than that. Several apps are not mapping their menus to the
menubar, and several are not inheriting the Ubuntu desktop theme.
Examples include most prominantly firefox and chromium.

Another symptom: I have Alt+H rebound to minimize window. This has
worked forever. Now there's a regression where Alt+H will summon the
Help menu. This is even though I have Activate the window menu set to
Disabled and Minimize window set to Alt+H. This used to override the
menu setting, but this has regressed.

I was able to solve this by installing the latest proprietary drivers
for my graphics cards.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 274024]

2014-02-17 Thread Ran Benita
(In reply to comment #13)
So for wx-keymap for hindi we can remove it, but for other Indian language
 wx-keymap, it is useful.

There is no dead_V keysym, i.e. it doesn't do anything. I think we
should remove it, and if you want, add a real keysym instead.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1273832] Re: [fglrx] Lockscreen/lid-close xserver freeze if UXA accel used.

2014-02-17 Thread Anthony Kamau
UPDATE:

I got tired of the workaround and reverted to gnome-screensaver which
has since fixed my blank screen w/ mouse issue:

sudo apt-get install --reinstall ubuntu-desktop gnome-screensaver
sudo apt-get remove --purge xscreensaver* sudo apt-get autoremove

I'm now back to a bland blank screen as my screensaver but at least it
resumes every time!

Cheers,
ak.

2014-02-17 Thread Heikki Berg
Video and photos of the thing. Screen and video capture shows perfect pointer.
However on the screen pointer is corrupt.
Simultaneous screen capture and video (with camera) provided. Does this isolate
the bug at all?
