[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2019831] Re: intel-media-va-driver VPP broken until 22.6.5
I also ran into a problem with missing VA-API post processing support on Lunar. I filed it as bug 2019917 since Lunar ships a version that includes the purported fix mentioned in the Github issue, and I'm unsure if it is actually the same problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to intel-media-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2019831 Title: intel-media-va-driver VPP broken until 22.6.5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-media-driver/+bug/2019831/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2019917] [NEW] No VA-API VAEntrypointVideoProc on Lunar
Public bug reported: On my laptop with an Intel Core i7-7500U CPU (Kaby Lake), the iHD VA-API driver does not report VAEntrypointVideoProc support in the output of vainfo: libva info: VA-API version 1.17.0 libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_1_17 libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0 vainfo: VA-API version: 1.17 (libva 2.12.0) vainfo: Driver version: Intel iHD driver for Intel(R) Gen Graphics - 23.1.2 () vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints VAProfileMPEG2Simple: VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointEncSliceLP VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointEncSliceLP VAProfileJPEGBaseline : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileJPEGBaseline : VAEntrypointEncPicture VAProfileH264ConstrainedBaseline: VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileH264ConstrainedBaseline: VAEntrypointEncSliceLP VAProfileVP8Version0_3 : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileHEVCMain : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileHEVCMain10 : VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileVP9Profile0: VAEntrypointVLD VAProfileVP9Profile2: VAEntrypointVLD Normally I'd expect to also see a line like: VAProfileNone : VAEntrypointVideoProc Among other things, this causes Totem to malfunction with the error "GStreamer element vaapipostproc is required to play the file, but it is not installed". Presumably it assumes that if hardware accelerated decoders are available, so is post processing. This seems like it might possibly be related to bug 2019831, but that was about problems in Jammy and the version it suggests should fix the problem is older than what's shipped in Lunar. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2019869] [NEW] nvidia-dkms-390: better support for kernel 6.2
Public bug reported: [Impact] Instead of disabling acpi support completely with nvidia-dkms-390, we should try instead to see if it's possible to support it somehow. [Fix] This patch looks promising (even if it says huge hack in the comments...): https://gitlab.com/herecura/packages/nvidia-390xx-dkms/-/blob/780a3c8b159f24c14e6c1cb35fd747338aefea39/kernel-6.2.patch Apply this patch and drop any 6.0 and 6.2 related patches. [Regression potential] With this patch nvidia-dkms-390 should build against 6.2 kernels without disabling any feature, but users of this driver may experience kernel bugs / crashes. However, the nvidia 390 driver is unmaintained so we should start to consider phasing it out. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Lunar) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Mantic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Lunar) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Jammy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Kinetic) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** No longer affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 (Ubuntu Kinetic) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-390 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2019869 Title: nvidia-dkms-390: better support for kernel 6.2 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-390/+bug/2019869/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 2019831] [NEW] intel-media-va-driver VPP broken until 22.6.5
Public bug reported: See https://github.com/intel/media-driver/issues/1662 for bug filed against upstream Intel media-driver project. The version of intel-media-va-driver on Jammy has broken functionality in the VPP path. This can be worked around by replacing with intel-media-va-driver-non-free. The root cause is that free EU kernel shaders were not updated before 22.6.5, causing the vaCreateContext call to fail with the VAEntrypointVideoProc entry point. Please could Jammy's (and Kinetic's ?) intel-media-va-driver be updated to 22.6.5 to allow users to do VPP in the free package. Thanks. Extra information: 1. Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS 2. intel-media-va-driver 22.3.1+dfsg1-1: amd64 3. Expected the call sequence to succeed, as with the intel-media-va-driver-non-free package's libraries. 4. The VAAPI vaCreateContext call failed, instead. ** Affects: intel-media-driver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to intel-media-driver in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2019831 Title: intel-media-va-driver VPP broken until 22.6.5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/intel-media-driver/+bug/2019831/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
