Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.

2012-06-11 Thread Fabio Pedretti
Can you open a new bug for this and report the number here?

Citando Martin 993...@bugs.launchpad.net:

This bug affects me to. Running a Dell Latitude E4300 CORE Duo with
 Intel graphics.
It's a graphics freeze for me, I can move my pointer and the
keyboard still functions when it locks. This usually happens after
my account automatically locks following a short period of
inactivity as per my settings. Restarting Compiz doesn't fix it for
me, but restarting lightdm does as per comment #151.
 1). Ctrl-Alt-F1
 2). Login
 3). Type sudo restart lightdm
4). This takes me to the greeter.
5). Login to my account, and the graphics are functional again.
Sadly restarting lightdm kills all window processes, but background
and backend processes continue to run through the lightdm restart.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 606907] Re: [xorg-edgers] Texture corruption with Radeon gallium driver r300g and 'big' textures (xorg-edgers)

2010-09-21 Thread Fabio Pedretti
Could you check if your bug looks like one of the following upstream reported
bug?
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advancedbug_status=NEWbug_status=ASSIGNEDbug_status=REOPENEDcomponent=Drivers%2FGallium%2Fr300product=Mesa

If not and if you are using and old kernel try using a recent (= 2.6.35)
kernel from here:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D

If the bug still appears with the newer kernel please open a new bug using:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Mesa

r300g developers are quite fast at fixing bugs when reported upstream.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 644458] [NEW] please provide gallium drivers as an option

2010-09-21 Thread Fabio Pedretti
Public bug reported:

Starting from mesa 7.9 the r300g gallium driver is more stable than the
classic r300 driver, and it also support OpenGL 2.1 (1.5 with classic
r300).

It would be nice to provide both driver r300c_dri.so, r300g_dri.so and
make a symlink r300_dri.so to one of the two (for safe, r300c_dri.so). A
user that want to use the other driver should only change the symlink.

The same could be done for r600g and swrastg (this one already available
on libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental package).

2010-04-07 Thread Fabio Pedretti
OK, there are probably 3 different bugs here:
- the original reported (by willem.dreyer) drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -12 with UMS
kernel which should be karmic only;
- the drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -12 reported in
http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23993 and
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=563257 with lucid KMS kernel
which should be fixed with the 3 patches pointed by Pauli and integrated in
Leann kernel;
- the drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22 experienced by Ville Hallik and me which I just
reported upstream here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27507

@Leann: your kernel doesn't fix the issue (are the patches really in the
kernel? I don't see them in the changelog).

Also note that the original bug filed by willem.dreyer is probably a
different one with the same mesa error (with karmic UMS kernel) than the
one that should be fixed with the 3 patches.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 459961] Re: radeon_dma.c:210: radeonRefillCurrentDmaRegion: Assertion `dma_bo-bo-cref == 1' failed.

2009-11-25 Thread Fabio Pedretti
I am also able to trigger this bug on a RV530 with current mesa_7_7_branch with
the game Enemy Territory Quake War. However I am not yet able to take a
backtrace of it because ETQW also triggers a different crash and I get only
this last one when running it under gdb. I suspect that this two may be related
to this one:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24131
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25179

Probably we should ping Dave Airlie (as also suggested by Maciej
Cencora) to fix this issue (note that these problems appear only when
KMS is disabled so it's not an issue on Fedora). Maybe we should before
set up a wiki page with all informations related to this to summarize
the issue.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 392544] Re: [i945G] [intel KMS regression] wrong X resolution (fuzzy aspect match)

2009-10-08 Thread Fabio Pedretti
Citando Bryce Harrington br...@bryceharrington.org:

From the discussion in the upstream bug, it appears they believe this to
be a kernel issue that is now fixed. Can you confirm?

Yes, that discussion was between an intel developer and me. I
confirmed the bug was partly (see my comment 13) fixed in drm-next,
which is now merged in 2.6.32.

Backporting the fix for karmic 2.6.31 should not be easy, since the
patch depended on other previous patches. Maybe all drm should be
backported.

This is only the case with UMS (i.e. without KMS). The attached xrandr

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 392544] [NEW] [intel KMS regression] wrong X resolution

2009-06-26 Thread Fabio Pedretti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I am testing current karmic LiveCD. When booting without KMS X gets the
correct 1280x1024 resolution of my monitor (a I-See S 171 17 inches).
This is what I see with my monitor's OSD:

while booting with usplash: 640x...@59,9Hz
X: 1280x1...@59,9Hz
when switching to a VT: 720x...@70hz
while shutting down with usplash: 640x...@59,9Hz

When booting with KMS (adding i915.modeset=1 to kernel command line) VT
and usplash while shutting down have a 1280x1024 resolution, but X has a
lower 1024x768 resolution. This is what I see with my monitor's OSD:

while booting with usplash: 640x...@59,9Hz
X: 1024x...@75,1Hz
when switching to a VT: 1280x1...@74,6Hz
while shutting down with usplash: 1280x1...@74,6Hz
