[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 723905] Re: Semi-multitouch devices should be disabled in Natty

2011-04-15 Thread Chase Douglas
Given that X evdev isn't used for trackpads and that a fix has been
added in X synaptics, I'm marking this bug as won't fix for the server
and X evdev.

** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
Status: In Progress = Won't Fix

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu)
   Status: Triaged = Won't Fix

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 723905] Re: Semi-multitouch devices should be disabled in Natty

2011-03-18 Thread Chase Douglas
I'm going to mark this as won't fix for xserver-xorg-input-evdev because
evdev is not used for trackpads by default. There is no benefit to using
evdev for trackpads in Natty. In Oneiric, the code would just be changed
to fully support semi-multitouch devices anyways, so there's not much
benefit to be gained by disabling semi-multitouch support in Natty.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 723905] Re: Semi-multitouch devices should be disabled in Natty

2011-03-15 Thread Chase Douglas
A synaptics test package has been pushed to ppa:utouch-team/unstable.

** Summary changed:

- Semi-multitouch devices should be handled properly
+ Semi-multitouch devices should be disabled in Natty

** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev
-
- Semi-multitouch devices need to have their touch class mode set properly
- to notify X clients of their nature. The devices also need to emit the
- correct number of touch sequences to match the number of touches active
- on the touch surface. See the protocol spec for more details.
+ SemiMultitouch devices are not enabled in the Natty x server, so their
+ touch support should be disabled in the input modules.
