Eddie,

I think you just asked the dumbest
question I ever heard and you know the clarification to your own question even
answered in the thread below. UNAA is a socio-hopefully-economic means for
Ugandans (including you) in North America to get together and make something
out of our stay herelike voting by proxy.

I dont know what you mean by
different funding government levels of UNAA as a charitable organization (please
clarify).

A meeting between the representative of
Ugandans in North America and the current President of Uganda has nothing to do
with the few honorable organizations that do business with the growing Ugandan
community in North America and that companys interest in peddling their
trade within our community.

missive posted afew minutes ago. This has not been a been a secret of any sort
and had the information I earlier diseminated to the Board members this morning
beencorrectly related to Muniini, he would have had a better idea of the
whole scenario.

Before I paste my response to Hon Mujungu earlier in the morning, I
would like to avail my view as such:

- We are meeting Mr. Museveni as a head of state and not as a political
party leader (though he is) who deserves his due respect in his capacity as Uganda's leader.

- I initiated
the meeting to embark on issues I promised in my campaign manifesto. So we are
not summoned as wrongly stated here.

- I am
paying for my travel expences as I have done on other accasions, and no one
else or organization is.

- I have in
the last three years, met with Mr. Museveni, Hon
Mugisha Muntu, Mr. Mohammed Mayanja Kibirige,Hon Norbert Maoand a
few others. At any given opportunity, I will meet with them and others when and
where time and resources permit without having bias of their political

Here is my communication to the board this morning in
response to Mr. Mujungu's questions:

- We
are very thankful for your support and eventual fulfillment of your pledge to

Edward,
Let me educate you here. UNAA is in bed with UPC, NRM, DP, FDC, and whatever other political organization there is in Uganda. UNAA is composed of people from all these different groups so at any one time you can accuse UNAA of being in bed with any political group. That is true. This aside, when a UNAA board sits, just like the UN, decisions made are non-partisan.

Now, how do we know YOU are not an agent of ESO. You like antagonizing people so they say stuff you can use.

Obote is gone and Amin is dead. If you became the next president of Uganda, the UNAA leadership would certainly love to meet you or your FDC brethren.

Those honorable organizations can operate if they can register them selves as business organization. What idiots like Abdul Kimbugwe must realize is that The Jews here have business originations which interact with the home government/s, create a Uganda Canadian/American business council, and crack your self up, I have no problem with that. But we have ESO agents plawling in our midst and the only organization we have is in bed with NRM. What does that tell you?

Uganda's political situation is very fluid and any critical thinker must take his personal interests out of such organization. For tomorrow Obote or Amin will be the president of Uganda will the same organization show up to meet him? That is a firkin question no one in UNAA answers to.

But hey I told Baganda here very long ago that it is very wrong for any one to stand up and state that it is okay let the Northerners die Ffe Kasita Twebaka. And no one listened, Just yesterday Ssabasajja got out of that sleep and he denounced it. May be he should start by apologizing to the Northerners who have been truly offended by the same statement?

God loves stupid people so much that is why he creates more of them than critical thinkers.

LAUNCHING OF NRM USA CALIFORNIA LOCAL CHAPTER
JULY 17TH 2005

NRM USA launched its California branch over the weekend on Saturday July 16th. The NRM event was an overwhelming success. By 4.00 p.m.

enthusiastic delegates had began to arrive, each one proudly signing in at the reception desk with their names. The occasion was hosted by NRM USA at ABLE International in North Hollywood located in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world.

The NRM function organizers deliberately designed it to attract potential partners of Development for Uganda who delivered keynotes on the importance of being organized in order to create an environment that can breed development. It was graced by a notable number of invited dignitaries including Her Excellency Ambassador Sempala, Congress Woman Diane Watson and Kenya?s General Council to California Ms. Nyambura Kamau. The event officially started promptly after dinner at 7.00 p.m. with a prayer led by Grace Lubwama, after which both the Ugandan and American National anthems were sang by Ms Rachael Kiwanuka, daughter to the renowned Ugandan singer and entrepreneur, Halima Namakula. She was followed by Mr. Robert Ssebugwawo, whose poetry has appeared in international media, who recited a composition in praise of the wise leadership of President Museve
ni, after which the delightful Halima Namakula led the delegates in singing ?Kiboonge Kyanini? in a true Movement tradition.

The NRM USA national executive was represented by the Secretary General Mr. Allan Katatumba, National Executive Secretary for Mobilization Mr. Kenneth Kanyike and Executive Committee Member, Mr. Edriss Kironde who is also the chairman of the NRM Colorado chapter all of whom spoke with passion for the Movement in their addresses to the delegates and the newly elected chapter members. They reiterated the need for a voice for the Movement in the Diaspora, especially in light of the incessant distortions being propagated by members of the opposition, mainly ?FDC? which was dubbed a ?Forum for Disgruntled Candidates?. The audience was reminded by the NRM Mobilization Secretary, Mr. Kanyike that NRM was waging a ?New Struggle? just like the one waged by the founders in the bushes of Luweero. ?The war in the Diaspo
ra is intended to resist the negative distortions propagated by certain sections of the media and numerous disgruntled and corrupt individuals, whose aims are to derail Uganda from the path of development?, he said. Mr. Kanyike in his speech also highlighted the history of the National Resistance Movement USA and detailed their achievements so far.
Mr. Katatumba stressed the need for partnerships with other Africans and people of African decent in the war against neo-colonialism, backwardness and poverty.

In her address to the delegates, Congresswoman Diane Watson, who is also on the US Foreign Relations Committee, said she was glad to see a nation on the move, and acknowledged that Uganda had indeed come a long way from ?the Uganda of Idi Amin? ? a notion that is shared by the NRM. She was encouraged to see Ugandans believing that they can achieve the desired transformation. She pledged to continue to be Uganda and Africa?s advocate on AGOA. She said that her office doors are open to help in any way to help add value to Uganda?s journey towards Democracy. She also emphasized that it was key for all Ugandans to work together on creating an environment that will breed peaceful coexistence and empower the citizens to utilize their own resources to develop their nation, rather than depend on handouts.

Ambassador Sempala highlighted Uganda?s History and stressed the need for Ugandans everywhere to participate in the processes of democratizing Uganda. Madam Sempala stressed the need for Ugandans everywhere in the Diaspora to actively articulate Uganda?s progress and also encourage investors to partner with Uganda to improve her capacity to achieve the vision of transformation. She noted that Uganda in the next phase of development is looking to begin adding value to her products with a view of leveraging these in the processes of development rather than depending on foreign AID that has proved useless in terms of creating any meaningful sustainable means of development for Uganda. She was thankful for NRM USA for having invited her to attend the launching of it?s NRM chapter in California, and said that the embassy doors were open to any other organ
ized groups of Ugandan?s who have positive ideas that are geared to helping Uganda achieve the level of transformation it seeks.
The ceremony was also addressed by the Chairman of the Africa

Ugandan MP offers free college for virgins
Offer reportedly aimed at curbing AIDS; deal only available
for girls

Reuters

Updated: 8:16 a.m. ET July 20, 2005

KAMPALA, Uganda -
A Ugandan member of parliament has pledged to reward girls for their chastity
by paying their university fees if they are virgins when they leave school, a
local newspaper said on Wednesday.

Bbaale
County MP Sulaiman Madada said any girl in his district who wanted to take part
in the scheme aimed at promoting girls education would be given a
gynecological examination by health workers to check they were virgins.

The
criterion is that a student must be a virgin and from Kayunga district,
he told the state-owned New Vision.

The
MP did not extend his offer to young men.

He
urged pupils to manage their lives responsibly, and called on parents to
explain the threats from HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Our
children should be told the risks they face if involved in early and
unprotected sex, Madada said.

Uganda was
once seen as the epicenter of the global HIV epidemic, but a government education
campaign has pushed down infection rates to around six percent from as high as
30 percent in some areas in the early 1990s.

Kayunga
in central Uganda is home about 300,000 people, and researchers say it has one
of the countrys worst AIDS rates, with more than 80 percent of families
losing at least one member to the disease.

[Ugnet] Mulago Dialysis Machine

2005-03-31 Thread andama

Netters:

Mulago Hospital, the only referral hospital to 90% of our population had only two Dialysis machines until recently when one of them broke down. So we can all imagine whata horrendoussituation this is and remember that we will all be judged by history for not “giving to those in need” when we could.

UNAA President Rosette Serwangais leading a fund drive for the purchase of two or more machines.

After the story appeared in the printed media on 22nd January (New Vision). Mulago Hospital director, Dr. Gideon Kikampikaho, had some discussion with Mr. Abdul Kimbugwe Treasurer of UNAA.

There are 2 main problems with the Dialysis Unit:

There has not been a service provider registered with the Manufacturers of the machines to give satisfactory service. However reasonable service has been achieved using a technician from Nairobi, and a resident serviceman trained from the Mulago Workshop.

The Number of machines have just been 2. This contrasts greatly with our neighbours in Kenya who have more than 30 machines in Nairobi. This means any failure of one or two machines leaves our patients very vulnerable. .

The Manufactures of the Machines have recently appointed agents in Tanzania, to cover Uganda and Tanzania. The agents were invited to assess the machines in Mulago and make a comprehensive report.

In summary, the report states that the machines have defective CPU boards and a defective Ultra-filtration Unit. These are major components. The AK (100 Model of machines is old (10 years) and the spares are not available with the Manufacturers. They recommend Mulago purchase AK95 Model. This model costs US$26,000 each. At the moment Mulago needs at least 6 machines equivalent to about $150,000.

Meanwhile Meditec Uganda, a distributor of Gambro dialysis machines has also recommended AK 95 model machines at $25,652.00 each. We need to raise $153,912.00 for the six machines.

Please make your contribution for this very noble and important cause. The form can be downloaded at http://www.unaanet.com

  Fellow Ugandan

By the tone of your posting, it sends waves that you were touched by
the tough hand of the erosion of moral and morale that our nation have
been stuck into for the last 20 years. But I can as well conclude that
your life had the mercy to get out since you can talk about it. Many
Ugandans have not been so lucky. So we must thank God for that.
Now we must take this concern one step further, our nation can not be
healed by eliminating bad hotels, for what you saw is not a problem of
a hotel, it is not a problem of a soldier, it is a problem of a whole
nation which is heading for a total anarchy. So instead of playing the
elimination game, let us work towards changes in our nation. We must
stop this freight train as it continues to go faster and faster to the
total destruction of the nation. Today you have seen a hotel, another
one saw a worst taxi driver who robbed him, another one's parent was
operated on when Doctors were using torches for light, yet the other
one died for the electricity through rationing was cut off when his
   tummy was still open.

All those are true results of a nation with out a government. we all as
Ugandans must start to think and hard and together if we are to save
our nation. Uganda was supposed to be a pearl of Africa until when The
Movement got its dirty hands on it. That is what we must reverse.
