RE: [Unattended] Dell Precision 370/ Unrecognized interface type (boot device)
Thanks, Marek! This seems to work splendidly. I still suppose it would be nice to have native SATA support in Unattended in the future, though. If possible and necessary. Regards, Lars Ivar Igesund Quoting Marek Tyc [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Dear Lars, In the bios there there are several options for sata : choose combined. We had the same problem with kickstarting linux. Maybe this is THE solution for you. At first I tried with 4.2, but it didn't recognize the SATA disk. Then I updated to 4.5 and it bombed on the EDD firmware. At first I thought it was the same problem reported by someone else (fixed in 4.6-rc1), but after getting the same error with the 4.6-rc1 bootdisk I looked closer. I get (after the EDD facility is succesfully loaded): *** Unrecognized interface type in /sys/firmware/edd/int13_dev80/interface Unable to determine boot device at /usr/bin/find-boot-device line 208 *** find-boot-device failed *** Dropping to shell The contents of /sys/firmware/edd/int13_dev80/interface : SATA device: 0 Looking at find-boot-device, I believe that this is indeed not supported (or looked after at all). Is there a quick fix for me to do or can I expect a fix in the next release? RE: [Unattended] Dell Precision 370
are you using SATA drives? What version of Unattended with which boot disk (linux or dos?) I have a drive format problem with my dos boot disk. It creates the partition fine, but format.exe bombs. I haven't updated in a while so my linuxboot is still on 4.2 which doesn't seem to support the broadcom nic version... Maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and try a current linux boot disk. RE: [Unattended] Dell Precision 370
Yes, it booted off a SATA drive. I was using an old version of unattended (3.2?) with the dos boot disk. I am in the process of upgrading to the latest version. I guess this doesn't help too much, sorry. -Original Message- From: Scott Card [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, October 04, 2004 7:44 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [Unattended] Dell Precision 370 are you using SATA drives?
