[libreoffice-users] Draw - rotation angle

2013-09-10 Thread david_lynch
In Draw, when I right click on a line, then Positon and Size -
Rotation, I can get Angle only to be an integer number of degrees. Is
there a way to get it to accept and action a number that isn't an integer?

I'm trying to draw 16 lines radiating from a point, equally spaced: the
irregularity in having some 22 degrees apart and some 23 apart is visible.

My understanding of that recent files lists are files you recently
edited and are therefor likely to be editing again. That would not be
the case with PDFs. Creating PDFs would be more like printing the
document and I don't recall there being any recently printed documents list.

Karen,

Without the function does the query return the correct information?

A typical SQL query would look like this:

SELECT person, company, address1, address2, city, state, zip (use your column
names)
FROMcontacts (use your table name(s))

Also, does the form/report return a label that is correct without the function?
I have found sometimes trying the minimalist approach first yields the results
I wanted.

Yes, the report will return a label showing the address or PO box on two
separate lines. However, we would like the PO box to show where the address
line would normally be. Seems like a function should work for this. If
address line available, print, if not, print PO box.

[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice Object Rotation

2013-09-10 Thread Gerald Pechoc

If I want to rotate either a LINE object or a RECTANGLE object it does
not work, accept some 2 or 3 degrees deviation.

I have done as described under
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Rotation
but there is no correct result.

In former versions that worked, but version 4.1.1.2 is not usable for me
because of this failure.

Does anyone have a work around for this behaviour?
I am using Libre Office on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

Best regards
Gerald

[4.0.3.3 on Windows 7]

That is an error in that version. It is fixed in the daily build
versions from trunk. I do not know, whether the fix is/will be available
in the 4.0.* code line too.

If you want equally spaced angles, then Position and Size is the wrong tool.
Draw one line and mark it. Then use Edit Duplicate... In section
Placement set axes to 0 and angle to 22.5°, set number of copies to 15.

The lines are rotated around their middle point. So you might need to
drag them to the desired place. Enable snap to point in the Options
toolbar to get them snap to one center starting point.

Kind regards
Regina

Hi.
You could go back to LO 3.6 which has 1/00 of degrees. You could argue
not having this is a regression.

Since a PDF file is not normally a LibreOffice format, I don't believe

I say normally because when exporting a document as a PDF, one does
have the option to Enable OpenDocument File ... I have not tested

possibly it would then appear in File - Recent Documents? Maybe?

Ouch!  30 does sound about right.  it is possible to delete a lot without even
reading them at all.  For example ones in threads that don't interest you or

Also Nabble is quite a good way to see how certain threads 'develop'

Good Afternoon,

We are wanting to roll Libreoffice to many of our terminals across the business
so they can use Spreadsheet, Document Writer and presentation software. Is
there any way I can do this using a silent installer over the network?

Thanks

If you use ask.com or I assume the Google Search engine you will get at
least 10 pages of various options for remote install. back when i was
working, (retire 13 years ago) we used to do it on Win NT systems (if
your using Windows). I'm sure there are options no matter what OS your
using as long as the systems have remote connections.

This is where Linux Libertine G comes in. Although it is modeled after
Times, it's not quite as condensed, so it works better for longer
documents. But, with LO, one has access to all sorts of expert effects,
making it a full featured typeface. While I might prefer a different
font, I'd rather use Libertine to full effect than a less complete
Garamond.

Another excellent free typeface is OFL Sorts Mill Goudy. It uses old
style numbering by default. But, it lacks a boldface font.

I haven't followed this thread closely, but I need a little more
information on the Linux libertine font. Here's what I find on my
PCLINUXOS distro using filefinder for *libertine* :

file:///opt/libreoffice3.6/share/fonts/truetype/LinLibertine_RZ_G.ttf
file:///opt/libreoffice3.6/share/fonts/truetype/LinLibertine_RI_G.ttf
file:///opt/libreoffice3.6/share/fonts/truetype/LinLibertine_RBI_G.ttf

file:///usr/share/texmf-dist/tex/plain/font-change/font_libertine_kp.tex
file:///usr/share/texmf-dist/tex/plain/font-change/font_libertine_palatino.tex

file:///usr/share/texmf-dist/tex/context/third/typescripts/type-linuxlibertine.mkiv

file:///usr/share/texmf-dist/tex/context/third/typescripts/type-linuxlibertine.tex

--doug

Doug,

Can you be a little more specific about what information you need?

Virgil

What are all these fonts? From reading the thread, I got the impression
that there was just *one* libertine font. What is the one

like Goudy? (sp?) What is the one that looks like Times?
I don't even know what the various book fonts are. Libertine was
supposed to be such a wonderful thing--well which one is the wonderful
one? Which one comes closest to the font that most modern fiction is
published in? (Whatever that's called.) Is there a tutorial about these

wonderful fonts someplace?

Whatever is the wonderful one, I'll try it and see if is appeals to
me over just everyday Times-Roman.

Thanx--doug

I have LO 3.5.7.2 on a recent fresh install and up to date Xubuntu
12.04. I have done a lot of DTP since I bought my first computer in
1978, recently mostly with Scribus, but occasionally I use LO. I was
very interested in this discussion of the Linux Libertine font and its
amazing abilities with the typography toolbar extension.

I downloaded and installed Linux Libertine from the Ubuntu repos, and
also installed the typography toolbar 1.1. The font appears fine and
the toolbar appears as I think it is supposed to. But there is a
problem. I opened an unimportant LO file to experiment with, selected
some text that had a number in it, applied Linux Libertine font, then
clicked on the old style numerals button in the toolbar. Nothing
happened. I repeated this with ligatures, tried true small caps, and
various other features of the toolbar, but the text flickered for an
instant and no changes were made.

Of course I closed LO and restarted it, but still nada. I am guessing
there is some fundamental setting somewhere that must be turned on for
this to work. Anyone have any clues?

Re: [libreoffice-users] Created PDF files to not appear as recently created / used

2013-09-10 Thread Robert Orzanna
Hello,

Thanks for your insights. I managed to find a working solution to my
problem. As long as I just export the document to PDF (even with Embed
OpenDocument File option checked), the document won't appear in the
list of recently modified documents.

But if I check the option View PDF after export, then apparently my
PDF viewer Evince will modify the file so that it appears in the list.

See this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/Iqf7kPK.png

Thanks for your help,

Robert

My understanding of that recent files lists are files you recently
edited and are therefor likely to be editing again. That would not be
the case with PDFs. Creating PDFs would be more like printing the
document and I don't recall there being any recently printed documents
 list.

 Test results ...
opened a new LibreOffice text document
 added some text
 File - Export as PDF
check box to Embed OpenDocument file
 exported
closed LibreOffice text document without saving

PDF file was created, and could be opened with Okular
PDF file did not appear in File - Recent Documents
PDF file could be opened by LibreOffice for editing.

 Hope that helps
