[libreoffice-users] Numbering/Lists - promote/demote issue

2015-02-17 Thread Steve Edmonds

Hi.
Before unnecessarily filing I thought I would check if the following
would be classed a bug.

To see the problem.
Create a list or numbering with list or numbering style of say 3 lines.
Demote the second line 1 level and the third line another level.

Clicking on each of the lines you can see bottom right of the window
Numbering1:Level 3 etc.

Modify the style so level 2 Options has Number None and Character Style
None. In LO 4.3 if I click on the line the status bar says
Numbering1:Level 2 but I no longer have the tool bar to promote or
demote this entry.

If I modify the style to Number Bullet, Character Style Place Holder and
Character Space (32) I can then promote and demote with the tool bar.

Cheers,
Steve

[libreoffice-users] problem with import of excel file, cells contain new lines

2015-02-17 Thread Uwe Brauer

Hello

I periodically receive excel files (generated by Office 2010 I think,
but saved in the old binary format).

Some of these columns cause me problems, since they seem to contain spaces
and even newlines. I could correct that manually, but since the file
contains hundred of lines this is cumbersome.
So the question is whether there exist any formating function which
could resolve the issue.

I attach an (shorted) example of the problem and would appreciate any
help.

Regards

Uwe Brauer

As you will see from that panel, this says that you have none (zero)
of the eleven subfeatures of Optional Components (currently hidden)
selected. So there are eleven things you have chosen not to install.

Either:
o (recommended) Click on the down-arrow to the left of Optional
Components and select the option to install all of them.

Or:
o Click on the plus sign to the left of Optional Components to show
the menu of those eleven items and then use their down-arrows to make
individual choices about what you want to install.

I trust this helps.

[libreoffice-users] Re: Solver bug

2015-02-17 Thread John LeMoyne Castle
Hi Paolo,

Thanks for your interest. This issue is recorded in the bug tracker Bug
87074 - If called NLP Solver macro is interrupted by an error on the line
where the set ObjectiveCell.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87074
Patch submitted -- https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/14499

Not sure if there is an immediate fix possible. It might be possible
because the repair is in the AddIn java code, external to the LibreOffice
compiled code. However...
The corrected AddIn won't install (interface is already there) and
the built-in NLPsolver can't be removed (doesn't appear in Ext Mgr).

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Solver bug

2015-02-17 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
If you are able to write Python or C++ code then the fastest way might be
to write an Extension/Add-on/Plugin to fix the immediate problem.

For the longer-term you could then upload that Extension to the LibreOffice
Extensions page and let the devs know. Probably best if you use an
OpenSource license such as LGPL or MPL so that other people can move it
into main branch after testing and maybe editing it.

A slightly longer, but more direct, route might be to join the devs and
maybe ask for a Mentor or for guidance and then work on that bug directly.

If you are more like most of us here then maybe try using Gnumeric
spreadsheet program instead. It's much smaller and lighter and faster
because it's a dedicated spreadsheet program and doesn't have to worry
about fitting in with other programs/modules such as word-processors or
anything.

Regards from
Tom :)

 Thanks for the patch!

Your 14499 patch has already been picked up and applied to master,
 4.5.0alpha0+

 http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=c290998df667bd2a8a12379642f79d09eca471c3

So folks should test against one of the daily builds of master to verify
correct function (using a parallel install is sufficient).

When it proves functional, possible the correction could also be backported
for use on the 4.4.2 and possibly the 4.3.7 patch cycle releases -- a
 separate patch submission for each.

Agree, direct patching of the 4.2.8.2 build JARs would be dodgy at best,
but the 4.2.8 was the last LO build in that branch--its build
 infrastructure
 has been removed.

Re: [libreoffice-users] installation problem LO4.4 - linux mint

2015-02-17 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
So to install that PPA from a command-line the command is probably
something like;

sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:libreoffice/ppa

I'm not sure what the -y tag does though.

This is the PPA for the latest Fresh so it might be good for your own
machine but your clients and any machine that you can't easily access to
help with any problems that might arise and any machines that don't have a
decent internet connection might want to settle down on a Still from some
other PPA or the regular repos or something.

Tom :)

thanks mike! adding the ppa means, you did not remove the old

 in the first place?

Correct. I added the ppa, did a refresh, and was offered the new

 versions
 in synaptic.

(Irrelevant probably, but synaptic then refused to actually do the
 upgrade
 - but this has happened lately for various packages, not just LO. Using
 apt
(or was it apt-get?) directly performed all the upgrades correctly.)

Mike, I use the LO PPA to install all the upgrades to my 64-bit
 Linux

 Mint
 box (currently 17.1)
, which means that they are installed automatically via the Update
 Manager
 - i e, I don't have to look for them in Synaptic or use «apt-get» in a
terminal to install them. Very convenient, but as I recently mentioned
 on
another thread, Base seems to be missing from the latest version
 (4.4.0.3)
installed on this computer - in any event, when I click the Base icon in
LibreOffice nothing at all happens, and when I enter «soffice --base»
 in a
terminal, LibreOffice opens not to Base, but to Writer !...

I'm not a frequent user of Base, but I can't recall encountering this
problem with previous versions of LO on Mint. I note that all LO
 services,
including Base, work just fine on my Windows 64-bit 8.1 box. Any
suggestions as to what may be wrong and how to fix it would be greatly
 appreciated !...

 Henri

PPA installs are fine, if you want to run the one that is currently on
 the
 PPA list.

Personally, I have not changed over to the 4.4.0.x package. I usually
wait for the .2 or .3 version before I switch.

Because of an extended illness, I have not started testing 4.4.0.x on
one of my systems. I do this before I install the new line onto my
 main/default system.

It might be helpful to have someone to post the PPA script here so
 those
who want to try it can get the correct install procedure.

Tim, here the URL of the «LibreOffice packaging team»
's webpage on the Launchpad site :
 https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

 Henri

Thanks, I have saved the info in a Writer document.
