[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice Portable (PortableApps.com Launcher) has stopped working (Version 4.1.4, MultilangualNormal), Re-download: Installer integrity check has failed, WinPenPack X-Libre
Hello, I have noticed that The Document Foundation has released the PortableApps.com version of LibreOffice 4.1.4. It successfully downloads! Before, I was having trouble just downloading it (as seen here: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/msg35225.html). I installed it on my flash drive, and everything worked fine. Then, upon opening the LibreOfficePortable.exe file, I got an error: LibreOffice Portable (PortableApps.com Launcher) has stopped working. I am using a Windows Vista x64-based system. I prefer to use the Mozilla Firefox web browser. However, after opening soffice.exe in %LibreOfficePortableDirectory%\App\libreoffice\program\soffice.exe, the program functioned perfectly At first, I thought maybe something happened when I checked the Remove extra languages box in the installer. But, after reinstalling it without that box checked, the problem persisted. After rebooting the system (I don't know if that changed anything), I opened the same download and installed LibreOffice Portable to a different folder. It successfully installed, and I didn't get any stopped working errors. I went back to the folder I previously installed the software under and the stopped working error persisted. The filesystem permissions for the two folders were the exact same, so I don't understand what happened. I re-downloaded LibreOffice Portable, and upon opening the installer, now the Installer integrity check failed. I don't know why the NSIS installer was complaining. I could still see the contents of the .paf.exe file when I opened it in 7-Zip. $RO, $_OUTDIR, and other common directories in a PortableApps.com/NSIS installer, along with the files, were present. Yet, according to the NSISError thrown, common causes include incomplete download or damaged media. Is there any explanation for this? The WinPenPack X-LibreOffice worked fine for me (http://www.winpenpack.com/en/download.php?view.1354). However, at the time of this writing, the LibreOffice Portable page on libreoffice.org only links to the PortableApps.com package, and does not mention the WinPenPack version. I am confused, since the Author Link on the WinPenPack page goes to libreoffice.org, instead of some other third-party. Is X-LibreOffice made/supported by The Document Foundation? If so, why doesn't libreoffice.org mention the WinPenPack version? Other people in this mailing list have recommended the WinPenPack version over the PortableApps.com version, and even asked the same question (http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/msg35761.html and http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/users/msg35771.html). It's difficult to tell without more information. But note that character formatting and character style formatting can each override the paragraph style you have applied. Try this: select the relevant text and then go to Format | Default Formatting (or Ctrl+M). This will remove local formatting and should leave you seeing the effects of your paragraph style. Note also that if you type immediately after some text with local formatting, that formatting is replicated in the new text. Local formatting can also be remembered even if you delete all the previous text. I trust this helps. [libreoffice-users] LibreOffice Portable Edition Will Not Install
Win XP Pro SP3. I downloaded LibreOffice Portable v 3.3 and tried to install it on my USB drive along with several other Portable Apps. I got Please close all instances of Libre OpenOffice PE and then click OK. The portable app can not be updated while it is running. But it is *not* running. It isn't even installed; this is the first time I've downloaded it. Help. Please. NB I have also reported this via the PortableApps (LibreOffice) forum. Please also look carefully at the error message: it says Libre OpenOffice PE.
